How to install Total Annihilation with mods in 2024

This is a brief but detailed guide for installing Total Annihilation, a game that came out over 25 years ago, on modern systems and machines with modern support.

Installation Guide
To play Total Annihilation (plus the mods you see on my channel) you will need to use the following steps:

1. Purchase a copy of the game from Steam or Gog.com.

2. Download and install the game to your computer. You will need to remember where it is installed. This is important.

3. Download and install the TAForever client by visiting TAForever.com.

4. Make an account for TAF in order to login and play online.

5. Login to the TAF Client and link the TAF Client to your TA Folder (which you remember the location of because you were following Step 2).

6. Choose a directory to install your TA mod to (for example Escalation or ProTA) and it will install the mod.

7. Create a test game in the TAF client with your chosen mod, press the Start game button and see if it works. If you did everything correctly, it will launch the game.

Wont this procedure work with Steam ?
Plz reply here because you might also be answering another question (killing two birds with 1 stone typa thing) I had about new maps where to unzip them to

When I attempt to install Escalation into TAF, exactly as you've described I just get an error that says "taesc.tauniverse.com" with only a dismiss button. I've tried everything, nothing seems to change it.
