I have already updated the code to work for 1.6 and ran some quick tests.
I thought I would rewrite the priority system, add support for Anomaly books and quest chances that were added with Odyssey. Reading length also needs tuning, or maybe it should be made dynamic, for day longer work time means less walking to pick up books, but then sleep schedule comes and pawn is still reading 2h later (which is actually realistic XD).
But I can release it early if there is demand, reading and priority work ok. Other changes will have to wait as I am in the middle of writing another mod right now.
Now I'm wasting stupid amount of time on front stuff like name and description. It needs to be changed as books are vanilla now and I dont need Vanilla Books Expanded dependency.
It will be released as a new workshop item, as steam does not support different dependencies for different versions.

No of course it doesn't work for 1.5 because Vanilla books Expanded doesn't have books anymore
Books are a base game feature now, and, VBE just expands on them by adding book writing
