[CS2] Best sticker positions for all guns - visual guide

This is a visual guide for the best sticker positions on all guns.

Knowing the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and sometimes 5th best sticker position on a gun is useful, as expensive stickers can add a lot of value if applied on some of the best positions of any given skin. A lower position ranking tends to mean a lower value added from the sticker.

A few notable stickers include Katowice 2014 stickers, Katowice 2015 stickers, the Crown (Foil), and the infamous Howling Dawn.

Introduction

This guide is to help anyone who wants to know the best sticker positions ranked for any gun. Expensive stickers use these ranked positions to calculate how much extra value a sticker (or stickers) adds to the gun, or to determine the best spot for overall sticker visibility when playing.

This guide takes the sticker positions ranking to it's core and will work with 99% of weapon skins, but certain very specific skins may have different best sticker positions depending on the art on the skin. For example the best preset sticker position for the M4A4 | Howl is widely considered to be on the back of the body, second to rightmost position. The AK-47 | Jaguar has similar properties yet only with certain very specific stickers.

Additionally, this guide ranks the preset positions from #1 to up to #5. While custom positions are not ranked, the most popular ones are shown in this guide. These popular custom positions are notable and hold a decent cosmetic and resell value. Custom positions cannot be ranked because they are unpredictable in both cosmetic value and in resale value.

Please note that this guide displays the new CS2 models, but there may be small visual differences on the same presets for legacy gun models.

Here is how the visual sticker position ranking works:

If a gun has a popular custom position this ghostly crown will represent it:

Rifles

Galil AR

1st best: back of the body, second to rightmost position
2nd best: above the mag, second to leftmost position
3rd best: on the barrel, leftmost position
4th best: on the stock, rightmost position

FAMAS

1st best: middle left of body, second to leftmost position
2nd best: front of the body, leftmost position
3rd best: middle right of body, second to rightmost position
4th best: back of body, rightmost position

AK-47

1st best: on the wood, leftmost position
2nd best: back of the body, rightmost position
3rd best: middle right of body, second to rightmost position

1st best: above the mag, leftmost position
2nd best: back of the body, second to rightmost position
3rd best: above the 1st best, second to leftmost position

1st best: above the mag, middle position
2nd best: middle of the body, second to rightmost position

1st best: above the mag, leftmost position

AUG

1st best: above the handle, second to leftmost position
2nd best: front of the body, leftmost position
3rd best: above the mag, second to rightmost position
4th best: on the stock, rightmost position
Notes: Controversial ranking. The #1 position placed is above the handle because although the #2 position is slightly bigger in size (if applied pre-CS2) and is placed in a slightly nicer spot, the #2 position also makes sizable holes in the applied sticker. Regardless sticker value wise #1 and #2 tend to have very similar overpay.

Sniper Rifles

SSG 08

1st best: above the mag, second to leftmost position
2nd best: front of the body, leftmost position
3rd best: middle right of the body, second to rightmost position
4th best: back of the body, rightmost position
Notes: Popular custom position represented by ghostly crown. Currently only possible on new CS2 model SSG 08 skins

AWP

1st best: on the scope, leftmost position
2nd best: below the scope, second to leftmost position
3rd best: middle of the body, second to rightmost position
4th best: on the stock, rightmost position

1st best: in front of the mag, leftmost position
2nd best: middle of the stock, second to rightmost position

Please leave a comment below if you believe a preset position ranking is incorrect or if I am missing a popular custom position. Please state what it should be instead and why you think so.

Example:

I think the sticker position rankings for the _ are wrong. You should switch the 1st best and 2nd best positions because the current 2nd best position is more visible than the 1st best position when holding the gun normally in game.

CS2 definitely needs to be tightened up :(

Some of these issues shouldn't still be in the game, and after so long who knows when it'll be adjusted.

Put up a screenshot of a skin with stickers from gameplay and you'll see that the positioning seems irrelevant depending on the map and lighting. After all, there's no way to tell which sticker is being used.

The AK-47 position #1 is weird because it cuts through the sticker.

For the AK you have a fair point however aesthetically while holding an AK it makes most sense on the wood, and the hole isn't super visible until you inspect. Still might need a change rank but as of rn people expect that to be fixed on Valves part, but who knows when.

As far as preset positions, pistol #1 slots should be correct. The thumb has always covered partly when you inspect, but when you play the game it is by far the best looking spot and playing the game takes up 95% of the time you see your skin.

why #1 best position for the AK is still on the wood? since the wood has huge holes in CS2 models, sticker on the wood have holes as well and sticker on that position looks bad, especially Kato14 stickers (in CSGO it makes sense since no holes on the wood). Also for the Glock and some other pistols most right position is covered with a finger while inspecting the weapon so it can't be #1 position imo. Probably we need to do adjustments to the best positions due to the new reality. Thanks
