Introduction
First of all, before we start the guide i would like to give a brief introduction about myself. I am no where near a pro guide maker, in fact this is literally my first ever guide. I just thought im so in-love with this game and i see all these new influx of players i have to share some knowledge so everyone is on the same page. Any feedback is highly appreciated and please let me know in the comments below! My in-game name is Slay, i am the leader of the corp Sleepless (recruiting btw). I started playing ZMR back when open beta literally just started and i was instantly hooked. I was very intimidated with the fact that the only way to get perms back then was from shooting galleries and believe it or not i pretty much have been living the game off of temp items but i did not care much because i played ALOT of pvp back then. In pvp armor doesnt matter and the UMP was pretty much all you needed and i practiced hard and i participated in the ladder season 1 for PvP. I peaked at rank 6 then stopped playing the game for about 2 weeks and ended the season rank 24. Now i strictly play PvE and i am running my corp. I am known around the game as, Slay, Chicken Nugget King This is why , and Death Magnet (I die alot, for many troll reasons, i cant express how stupid my deaths are.. video montage of my deaths in the future) If you ever need help with anything please ask me and i will try to help you to the best of my ability.

Getting Started and General Tips
Basic Interface

  1. This shows your PvP Win Ratio, PvE Wins and quits, Your active boosts at the upper right of the card, i have VIP Active, you can also activate exp and gold boosts (Shown later in guide), Your DPS (Damage Per Second), Your AP (Achievement Points), and your card avatar and details. If you click on the card avatar (The little guy with diamonds) you get access to your card art, in mine its the pink valentine type of thing, your personal info, avatar, and security. Clicking on Details shows all your stats and achievements.
  2. This is where you have access to your friends list, Mail, and the Ranked leaderboards.
  3. This is the chat, press enter to type in chat and click on the corresponding tab you want to see specifically. /g Guild /t Team /w [name] Whisper /y Say.
  4. Here are tabs relating to different things. First is game rooms where all the lobbies show up next you have inventory where you have access to all your items, boosts, armor, costumes, shooting galleries, and weapons. Next is the store.. pretty self explanatory. Next is the missions (Will be explained more in-depth later). To the right of that is the corps, you have access to look up any corp and apply to any you meet the requirements for. Lastly is the ranked pvp tab where you have access to ranked PvP and MvM. Unfortunately ranked is up only on specific dates and times that will be announced via reddit and the official website[playzmr.com]'
  5. These are the game rooms where you will find games. To make one simply click on create a match, Select the desired game mode and map. Keep in mind to start a room with a password in it you need a minimum of 3 players. If you want to solo just join the solo ripley channel and you will be able to solo maps without a password and a max of 1 player.

Missions

Missions provide us the players things to do around the game. Wether its kill 'X' amount of people or its to do "x" amount of a mission. Regardless missions are thing you want to do. Personally i do all my missions and dailies except for the dailies that dont give REP. Dailies reset every 8 PM PDT, along goes the 3 platinum bullets you can acquire a day. The missions that reset are the ones that are marked dailies and the ones that require you to get game. (Shown in the picture) Missions give you access to some of the most powerful guns in the game just to give you a taste of true power.

Tech Items

Techs provide small but extremely useful boosts to PvE and PvP. Uni stands for universal techs and these work for PvP kind of like CoD perks, they also work for PvE modes also. Personally i use innerverator, attronine pump, and the shrapnel magnets (Damn warmongers). Co-op ones are strictly for PvE, personally i use Endorphin Pump, mag loader, and anti-coagulant. Techs can be bought using gold, EMP, and REP.

Shooting Galleries

So most people when they start the game have no idea what these are! Fear not Slay is here, Shooting Galleries are the games way of a reward on beating a certain difficulty or opening some reward pack. You literally click on the bullet that you have and you "shoot" at a target of your choice. In doing so you will be rewarded with some random item. This is essentially the most free way to progress in the games weapons and make you stronger. Of course make sure you pray to the RNG gods before every bullet. Silver bullets are earned in reward packs, missions, or normal/advanced difficulty maps. Gold is earned through reward packs, missions, expert/nightmare difficulty maps. Last but not the slightest bit least, Platinums, they are earned through Nightmare. Nightmare is extremely tough for first timers so make sure you have a well prepared group. Completing nightmare with a certain amount of points will reward you with a platinum bullet and 2 golds also your nightmare ticket is returned :)

General Tips

Basic Interface and Missions are the 2 main things you need to know about when just starting this game. Next i will give you a few key tips you might not have known.
  • The currency. There are 3 types of currency, Gold, EMP, and REP. Gold is acquired through completing matches and missions, they give you access to items, mods, weapons, and armor. EMP is the games version of Money currency and you can get that through real world money. They give you access to exclusive weapons and items such as hair changers and extra loadouts. Keep in mind EMP items like armor or weapon mods do not give an advantage in PvP. REP is acquired through missions and is used to buy REP Exclusive items !
  • To activate your starting 50 revive tokens Inventory>All items>items find the 50 revive tokens and activate it.
  • Normal and Advanced difficulty gives you 3 free revives before you start using your own.
  • To play higher difficulties you have to beat the difficulty before it.
  • Using cover in PvE is highly encouraged, especially in higher levels.
  • You dont need the best gears or weapons to run higher difficulties.
  • Practice makes perfect.
  • Have fun!
Finding your way in ZMR

In my opinion, when you start ZMR you want to find what you want to do. Meaning figure out what you love most, PvE or PvP. Find out what you want to do and set goals for it. In doing so it will provide yourself a much more fun gaming experience overall in ZMR. In the next section i will talk in-depth about PvE and PvP. In this section i will give brief summaries about Corporations (Clans/Guilds) and some common goals.

Corporations

Aside from playing with friends, i think that Corporations are the absolute BEST way to get the most out of ZMR. Corporations provide you with more players to play with so your not always with random users and some may help you with anything you need help with (Including Nightmare!!). In the future its rumored that a Ranked PvE system with corps will be implemented and maybe some Corp PvP. Corps allow noobs to gain alot of knowledge from the vets in the corp and is absolutely a must to join if you are looking to be playing this game for awhile. (Aside from Sun hes truly a Solo Warrior)

Common Goals

Setting goals for urself in ZMR is very usefull on getting your mindset on ZMR. ZMR can get a bit grindy and what you need are goals. I have compiled some super easy goals for the average ZMR player looking to become greater players overall.

[/b]PvP Goals[/b]
  • Find Your Favorite Weapon (Gun Analysis in PvP Section)
  • Play every map and learn them (Map analysis in PvP Section)
  • Find your play style (Discussed in the PvP Analysis section)
  • Learn to shoot headshots
  • Get Rekt and Learn from it
  • Evaluate mistakes

PvE Goals
  • Learn every map (Map Analysis in PvE Section)
  • Farm bullets and earn ZK/AS Weapons (Explained in PvE Section)
  • Learn to hit headshots
  • Get used to kiting
  • If you dont know what to do, copy someone!

With these goals some will be further explained in the PvP/PvE Analysis sections below. Hopefully some of these goals will help you guys further your ZMR skill.
In-Depth PvP Analysis

Okay so, in this section i will be going over in the best detail i can maps, MvM, modes, guns, tactics, techs, and Right Hand Advantage. Many people are discouraged with PvP mainly becuase they think its p2w or they just arent good at it. I will describe some guns that you aquire from leveling or from starting the game and how to be decent with them. Lets get started.

Disclaimer: I'm not a self proclaimed pvp pro, i simply just think i have enough knowledge to be able to share with you guys :)

Maps

Every map i talk about will include one picture of my favorite spot to have the most "Advantage" im sorry i cant provide a video of the best spots because simply i dont have time. anyways along with a picture i will include map name, best gun types, Game modes associated with the map, and a paragraph about tactics. Now lets get started.

1. Map Name: Hot Dam

Favorable Gun types: SMG's, Snipers, AR's
Game Modes: Team Deathmatch, Elimination, King of the Hill, Free-for-All

Picture Description:
On the left is what i call the "Castle". Given a sniper being on the castle provides so much information on where the enemy is. You practically have a view point of the whole map and you are able to relay enemy positions to your teammates with ease. This spot can be used on both sides because both sides have it. Highly prefer snipers to learn this spot. If you are more of a SMG/AR type of guy the right picture is the spot i prefer. I call this spot "Grenade". Getting on top of the grenade spot provides pressure on the snipers and the spawn. Having control of that spot most of the game will most likely win you the game. Just like the castle, Grenade spot allows you to have vision of their castle and rpg, also you can make your way towards the back side where you can look over to both the spawns. If you want to win everytime on this map, control Castle and Grenade, and you will win.

Tactics:
Hot Dam is almost identical on both sides. That being said if your own castle is the most important building on your side, then doesnt that mean their castle is the most important thing to "get control of"? Correct, for tactics i advise, if your confident with your skill, to literally rush their castle. If you gain control of their castle then you have so much map pressure and cover that its almost impossible to kill you unless you get out-gunned or they send 2+ people. Rushing the cyclone side, behind grenade, gives you a flank to their side and most noobs would not expect it. Rushing under their castle is a great way to take control of their castle and provide map pressure.

2. Map Name: Bullet Train

Favorable Guns: SMG's, Shotgun
Game Modes: Team Deathmatch and Elimination

Picture Description:
This map is super small so there isn't much from a control stand point but these stand out. The one on the left is upper part of the map. If you learn to control that when people pop and you one shot them with a m1100, you could be one of the most deadliest people to play on Bullet Train. Gaining control of upper side can allow your team extra viewpoints the enemy can't have. On the right you have the middle box. Gaining control of that allows you to control the whole underpass(Under the bridge) and the outer side. If you have enough pressure you can push up towards the tractor, or the boxes on their respective sides and apply spawn trap pressure. Takes more skill to do that but you will learn.

Tactics:
Not much tactics to this map other then run around and shoot. In my opinion my tactic is to control the hallways, if i control the hallways then my team can push up towards underpass and towards the tractor/boxes and apply some sort of spawn trap. Other then that the guy on top is controlling those enemies and you have yourself a structured spawn trap.

3. Map Name: Killville

Favorable Guns: SMG's, Shotgun, Sniper
Game Modes: Team Deathmatch, Elimination, King of the Hill, Free-for-All

Picture Description:
Killville is very symmetrical. In-fact most of the maps in ZMR are symmetrical. The more you play the more you will catch on and learn the maps easier. KillVille has a left straight away and a right straightaway with a building in the middle. The picture on the left is what i call the "Date Room". I have learned to dominate this place, and its very common for people to be going into that room. If you learn how to correctly hold that place then you will be racking alot of map pressure and kills. On the left you have the middle building. Obviously who ever control that building has alot of upward pressure. having the middle building advantage is like 50% more cover and its easier to spawn trap. This map is all about pressure and map control nothing else to it.

Tactics:
Rush. Rush Date room and middle building. The faster you control those 2 fast, the easier you will win. I just see those 2 rooms as the most important rooms to victory. Very straight forward map not many tactics to it.

4. Map Name: Rooftop Rumble

Favorable Guns: SMG's, Shotgun
Game Modes: Team Deathmatch, Elimination

Picture Description:
Rooftop Rumble is a awkward map but features some good flank routes that can either be picked up super fast or can become super effective. The picture on the left is the ledge, when taken over you can sit on the wall and have amazing vision on enemy side. You can literally see people spawn at their spawn. Amazing. Having this cover and knowledge will go a long way in this map. The picture on the right is the death tunnel. You're thinking to yourself, why would a place be named death tunnel and be an important place? Well because death tunnel is death tunnel, if u you learn to master it you can kill half the team in literally 30 seconds. If no one covers it, boom your on their building and you will literally flank the whole team and spawn trap them.

Tactics:
Rooftop Rumble, honestly im not the best at it but oddly enough i dont even play around where the picture show. I control middle but i didnt show that because i dont think its as important as the ones showed in the picture. Rush tunnel if you can, mostlikely unsafe, rushing mid to kill the people running to ledge is a good idea. Having control of the 2 points provides extreme spawn trap and miserable time for your enemy. Not much tactics here, just control and push :)
In-Depth PvP Analysis (cont. 1)
5. Map Name: Black Gold Rush

Favorable Guns: Sniper, Shotgun
Game Modes: Team Deathmatch, Elimination, King of the Hill, Free-for-All

Picture Description:
Black gold rush is my favorite sniper map, its just so easy for me. The picture on the left is one of 2 of the sniper buildings, i go here all the time and i get every one of my kills there I have learned all the sniper peaking spots and where everyone goes its just so easy for me to get headshot after headshot in the sniper buildings. Learn this spot and you will become a great sniper. The right picture is similar to the grenade spot in Hot Dam, Works just the same, if you get there, as you can see in the picture, you have a perfect sight of the enemy sniper building. Same goes for the other side. Having this angle and with teammate snipers in your own building provides overwhelming pressure on enemy snipers in their building. Get control of this platform and literally destroy that enemy sniper building.

Tactics:
Get control of the platform and provide sniper cover so your SMG Rushers can push towards mid and the far side that open, if your SMG people can make it towards their sniper building then you won the game. Now you're wonder, well slay why didnt you put the beloved SMG in preferable guns?? Well because its hard, really to rush with a smg against a good sniper you will get picked off, why shotgun over smg? because shotguns are a great defense if that one smg rusher does come to the sniper building its easy picking with a shotgun. All in all, provide sniper cover and pick players off, be a smart sniper.

6. Map Name: Shell Beach

Favorable Guns: SMG's, Shotguns
Game Modes: Team Deathmatch, Elimination

Picture Description:
I love shell beach totally fun map, its small compact and super fast. The left picture is my favorite spot to camp, its the wooden bridge side and its super easy to control all points. You can see when people spawn and pick them off also have good view of snipers up on the high deck. Using shadow coverage most people dont see you. The picture on the right is another place similar to the left picture except its literally on the other side. Same concept has good coverage and can see spawns. Both have good control and constant kill pressure.

Tactics:
I say for this map is to pick one side and stick to it. Its roughly hard to dominate both sides of the map considering both sides have their own sniper nest and its tough to get up there. Pick one of the cave pictures and own it. Rush it and own it. Other then that Kill. Every. Thing.

7. Map Name: Area 51

Favorable Guns: Shotguns, SMG's
Game Modes: Team Deathmatch, Elimination, King of the Hill, Demolition, Free-for-All

Picture Description:
Area 51 isn't like most maps where the sides are the important, here i feel like the sides are over-populated and the middle is a big gap. Using the crane looking thing in the middle of the map shown in picture right u can flank all the box spots on either side. Very useful plus you can literally spawn kill people because from there you can see both spawn points. In the left picture you have the middle boxes/straight way, this spot helps with the right picture if u own the middle of this map, your enemy wont know what to do.

Tactics:
Short and simple for this one, Rush middle pick off stragglers and control the sides from the middle. Having that long strip in the middle creates so much opportunities to pick people off before they even get where they want to go. Overall the middle strip is by-far the most important thing in this map.

8. Map Name: Death Metal

Favorable Guns: SMG's, Shotgun
Game Modes: Team Deathmatch, Elimination,

Picture Description:
Death Metal is a super simple map, keep out of middle and run to the sides. The left picture is the catwalk, this is the easiest way to get 30 kills on this map as u can easily see people coming down the stairs and you can just pop them easily and they would never expect it. This map isnt about map pressure its about getting in the right position and camping and letting them come to you. The picture on the right is the downstairs ally way, When you spawn look to the right or left and find stairs, most noobs dont know about this downstairs part and the trick to this place is nothing. Patience is key and pop up super fast when enemies do and kill them, fairly simple side just be patient.

Tactics:
Really not much tactics here, just get to your spot ASAP and camp, patience is key to this map

9. Map Name: Wetworks

Favorable Guns: SMG's, Shotguns
Game Modes:Team Deathmatch, Elimination

Picture Description:
Yes you're right, the pictures are almost identical, both of them are the respective side's 'cover boxes'. What you need to do is to push past middle and get to their 'cover boxes' and literally hardcore spawn trap. This map is one of the most brutal spawn traps in the game.

Tactics:
Like i said in the picture description, push past the middle and get to their side of the 'cover boxes' and spawn trap them, have 2-3 people cover the side alley so no one flanks and continue to kill. BTW dont run in the weird mist/air/smoke looking thing in the middle you will get downed. :)

10. Map Name: Headshot Hotel

Favorable Guns:Sniper
Game Modes:Team Deathmatch, Elimination

Picture Description:
Headshot hotel is made for snipers. I only see the sniper being the best weapon on this map, for me its tough to rush. I get picked off so easily by snipers its not even fun to rush. The picture on the left is the sniper nest on both respective sides. You can actually see the other sniper nest directly across/diagnol (shown in picture) and yes that means a sniper war from up-top. The picture on the right is the middle bridge, Its self explanatory, you can spawn kill and see the whole map. If you control that i dont see how this is a negative as it helps your team in every way possible.

Tactics:
Pick off rusher and snipe, get behind cover and literally just look for rushers. If you have good sniper control get to the bridge and spawn kill and literally dominate the game. Again straight forward map not much to say.
In-Depth PvP Analysis (cont. 2)
11. Map Name: Sand Trap

Favorable Guns: SMG's, Shotguns
Game Modes: Team Deathmatch, Elimination, King of the Hill

Picture Description:
This picture just shows a picture of the side routes, goes both ways. Middle is a death zone no point in going there.

Tactics:
Rush the sides and push to the point where you dont go up the stairs, this goes for both sides respectively. Camp at the bottom of the stairs and just pick people off, by far this is the best way to make the most of this map. Having control of the sides is the best way to create the most map pressure and spawn trap.

Why are all the maps not here?
Well simply said, i dont have enough knowledge on the remaining maps, Once i do be sure to check back on this guide and see if its here :) Also mean streets and tourist trap will not be added because imo they are so bad. Sorry!

Game Modes

Most of you can skip this part of the "book" because its relatively boring and everyone knows the game modes. BUT! for those of you who don't, well im here for you :P

  • Team Deathmatch
There are 2 team, objective of the mode? Get to the kill goal as a team, meaning kill. literally just kill. First team to 60, 120, 150, 200 kills wins the game.

  • Elimination
This game mode is super similar to CoD's Search and Destroy except the fact that there is no bomb. Objective? Kill. If you die you dont spawn, you get one life per round. First to 3, 5, and 7 round wins the game. To win a round either run out of time or kill every member of the opposing team.

  • King of the Hill
One objective, Is to capture and hold the designated point, first team to get a certain amount of seconds total wins the game. Dont have to kill just go run and suicide.

  • Demolition
Just like CoD's Search and Destroy, One team is defending a bomb the others are planting, Successfully defend/plant and you win the round. First to however many rounds wins the game.

  • Free-for-All
You are a one man team, First 'person' to get to the designated amount of kills wins the game.

Monsters Vs. Mechs
MvM gets their own section. Now i am no MvM pro but i guess i know a few tactics so hopefully i can dish out a good amount of information.

Zombies
In my opinion i would describe the zombie side as more of a Crowd Control, Map control team. You have a list of people who have long range spears, Green bubbles that blind, Healers, Teleporter, and Demon lord who is pure damage. Lets take a look at some of the most important characters. (In my opinion)

  • How to Use Normal Zombie
-Normal Zombies have super fast mobility so to use that in your advantage, Run in a super zig zag motion with random stops and straight movement in between, (Once i get a proper video i will add it)

  • How to use the Spear Guy
-This guy is more for the skilled and is better in the early game to save for the terracota or cocubine. Use steady aim and aim for bigger targets since they are easier to hit pretty straight forward, just aim and shoot :D

  • How to use the Green ball throwing guy
-This guy is my favorite on the zombie (aside from the assassin) side because hes so gosh darn annoying, Use cover to pop in and out while throwing you green balls of death, Aim for the big guys and block vision. (Super important character imo)

  • How to use the Assassin
-This girl is awesome, Get in stealth and one hit the regular scouts. Simple and do this all game haha

  • How to use the Cocubine
    - Important healer on the team, stay in the middle building spamming zombies and popping heals for your terracotas, spearmen, and green ball throwing guys. Dont die and play safe. Support of the team

  • How to use the Terracota Warrior
-Fun to use easy to die with, my suggestion is to teleport in next to a group immediately press the Stun (F) and chop a few heads off and ASAP teleport out. Hopefully this tactic drastically decreases the amount you die with this guy because hes hard to use imo.

Mercenaries AKA Mechs
I see this side as a more hardcore damage and push team. Most of their characters are raw power with fair amount of health. Given that lets take a look at some characters that stand out the most.

  • How to use the Scout
    - Simple yet hard to use in the beginning. Give that Zombies have super fast mobility you can't run from them so you have to sit in the middle by spawn and wait for them. Stay all together and dont full auto them, just 1 tap and have super steady aim.

  • How to use the Warmonger
-Awesome cheap character fairly straight forward. Become one with the GL and launch away. Aim for the green ball guys and shields spear guys. Careful, remember it arcs.

  • How to use the Super stealth robot guy
-Unlike the assassin this guy can actually go for bigger guys and has faster mobility in stealth mode. When attacking somone use your emp blast and hack away, Again simple guy not hard go for green ball guys and cocubines.

  • How to use the 2 rocket guys with red shield!
-Favorite character to use in the whole game super op. Launch rockets at anything and you have a ton of health, not much tips to give out hes super fun and super op. Hold F to make your shield go on the ground!

I dont play MvM much therefore i am no pro at it i just tried to give the information i know !

Guns
There is a distinct difference in guns in ZMR as a whole. I see what i call a Gun META Game. What i mean by that is there are specific guns/types that are part of the META meaning they are the best to use. IMO I think the ZMR Gun META is SMG's and Shotguns (Feel free to discuss in the comments below). Why do i say that? Because AR's simply lack the Rate of Fire, SMG have so much rate of fire it completely out classes the AR's in a gun fight. Not to mention SMG's have no recoil or spread and are fairly accurate. Shotguns are super strong right now, They have a one shot capability and are Fairly easy to A-D smash around a corner. Lets take a look at some favorable guns, non-emp and emp types, and their pros and cons.

PvP Techs
I explained what techs were earlier in the guide so i will just give you the main techs i think you should use and why.
  1. Tread Dampener
    • This helps a lot because you can use flank routes way easier, if you're going to play competitively then you definitely want this.
  2. Innervator
    • This isn't really noticeable but it still makes a difference, helps rush and totally ties in with the whole mobility of ZMR.
  3. Atropine Pump
    • This is super helpful because increased health recovery just provides you more play time pretty much, the faster you have full health the faster you can get back to shooting.
  4. Adrenaline Boost
    • This is personal preference if you like to melee and are all close range this would be great, but i still prefer the upper 3!
Those are my preferred Techs all the others are optional!

Tactics
Here i will explain some tactics to play in ZMR

A-D Smashing

Shotgun Wall Hug

Flanking
Flanking is a big part of ZMR, especially in Elimination or Demolition. If you see somone camping or not paying attention to anything but their line of vision. Then flank, if you know the map take a side route and flank them, If you dont know the maps then feast your eyes on my maps section because i explain it all.

Rushing
Rushing provides map pressure and control, Rushing is super appropriate on wetworks, hot dam, bullet train, sand trap, pretty much all of the maps. If you learn to rush the right spots then you can have so much control and pressure it would literally win you the game. Refer to maps sections for famous rush spots.

Right Hand Advantage
I will provide you 2 videos my own explanation and the video in Fayygo's Guide
