I would also suggest, before putting the solutions, to put the grids with the "hints" (diamonds, dots, line...)
While solving the columns is technically not needed, you still need to understand what the solution would look like, to know the proper flowers for the columns. So it does help to solve it first.
I would maybe just reformulate the 6 to something like You are left with some flowers on the columns
Here is my idea of a hint that could work:
1. The grid consists of 4 parts, each relying on different objects and hint extraction method.
2. Flower patches are a part.
3. Columns are a part.
4. Final puzzles patches are a part, though not every cell has a hint.
5. Canopy is a hint, though not every cell has a hint.
6. Flowers, columns, final patches and canopy represent 6, 9, 6 and 3 cells correspondingly.
7. Final patches hint is starting flower.
