Introduction
Welcome! This guide is a work in progress and I will update it when I have time. I'm aiming to get front and profile views of each animal's brain and innards.

I was disappointed that this game didn't have an x-ray view of the animals or any pictures of their innards before sending you out to shoot them. Hopefully this guide helps remedy that problem and the uncertainty of where to shoot.

Suggestions are welcome, and thanks for viewing!

Update: Realized most of my pictures were private, and couldn't be expanded. Whoops. If there are any more problems, please let me know.
Shooting Basics
  • Lungs can be shot from directly behind the shoulder, brain is usually directly above/behind eyes

  • Spine, brain, and heart shots instantly drop the animal. Lung shots quickly drop them.

  • Lying prone helps steady the shot

  • Hold your breath with rifles and bows by pressing shift

  • The red circle that appears when holding your breath is where the arrow or bullet will land

  • Remember that animals have a layer of bones and muscles covering the internals. I recommend going with a higher penetrating round.

  • Small animals die no matter where they are hit, but don't count for anything unless you're shooting them for an achievement with the weapon specified for that achievement.
Scoring
There are two parts to scoring: The vitals score and the muliplier. The actual score of the animal does not factor in. The vitals score depends on where you hit the animal, the multiplier is how you hit it.

Vitals

Below are the scores for each. What these basically mean is that you should go for the lung shot whenever possible, especially the double lung shot. I have hit the brain and spine together, but it is more difficult and the combined score is the same as a double lung shot. The stomach should be avoided at all costs, as should any shot that you aren't sure will hit a vital.

  • Stomach: -100
  • Brain: 100
  • Lung: 200 (400 if both are hit)
  • Spine: 300
  • Heart: 400
  • All vitals missed: -75

Whatever vitals you hit will be added together for a vitals score, e.g. if I hit one lung and the stomach my vitals score would be 100 (200-100).

Multiplier

  • Default: x1
  • Pro: x10
  • One Shot: +1
  • Stationary: +1

Default is the multiplier you will always get, and what the others stack on. Pro you will only get if you have beaten all pro hunts in the game. One shot is when you take the animal down with one shot. Stationary is shooting the animal when it isn't running. Negatives are not multiplied, so if you kill a stationary animal with a single stomach shot you won't get -300 GC.

Example: If you take down an animal when it is feeding and it only takes you one shot, your multiplier will be 3 (default 1 + one shot 1 + stationary 1). Your vitals score will be multiplied by this number. If the animal was taken down with a double lung shot the score would be 1200 (200x2 for lungs, x3 for multiplier).

Important: Any unclaimed trophy is an automatic -500 GC. If you really don't want to claim it, quit the hunt before it dies.

Animals
Similar species have been combined. Heart is red, lungs are purple, brain and stomach are blue. Rules of thumb: To shoot lungs, shoot directly behind shoulder. To shoot brain, shoot right above/behind eyes.

Black Bear / Grizzly

Brain - slightly above eyes, in front of ears

Internals - Lungs from shoulders to halfway down upper arm, heart about quarter way down upper arm when standing.

Deer / Caribou / Pronghorn / Elk

Brain - Directly above and behind eyes, below antlers

Internals - heart between legs, lungs behind/between shoulders

Moose

Moose are very similar to the above, but have much more bulk on top of everything.

Brain - Pretty small and further back

Internals

Wild Boar

Brain - Above eyes. It's tiny so make sure you're shooting right in the middle of the head

Internals - Lungs seem to be further up, get as close to behind shoulder as possible
