Why Does Far Cry 3 Crashes in Windows 11 ?
This game uses maximum of 2GB ram to load game files, but recent operating system needs more ram to load and optimize files so it ends up crashing game when it couldn't load files.

Note: This guide is to fix crash which happens every 10-15 mins in the middle of gameplay, This guide is not meant to fix game not launching with black screen or crash

Fix
Force the game to use more upto 4GB ram instead of 2GB ram, this method is called Large Address Aware (LAA).

Warning
Use LAA method only if you have 8GB or more Ram

Steps
Note: Keep backup of farcry3_d3d11.exe and farcry3.exe file before making LAA changes just in case

1. Download LAA software from here[www.techpowerup.com], or you can use any other LAA software of your choice

2. Run the software downloaded from above link

3. Select farcry3_d3d11.exe which is located in steam folder, steamapps -> common -> Far Cry 3 -> bin -> farcry3_d3d11.exe in LAA first dropdown

4. After selecting the farcry3_d3d11.exe, you will see a check box to enable more than 2GB ram limit, enable this one

5. Click on Save

6. Above one is for DirectX 11, If you are playing in DirectX 9 then Select farcry3.exe instead of farcry3_d3d11.exe in above step 3

Done, the game won't crash anymore

Far Cry3 DX11 vs DX9
Why use DirectX11 instead of DirectX9 ?

- The game water and vegetation looks better and vibrant in DX11
- We get motion blur when driving vehicle or running in DX11

Thank You
Hope this guide helps you, if you have any suggestions or any other method to fix crash then feel free to comment on this guide, which will help others.

Guys, I found a good solution to many of the problems:
-Disable Async Shaders from GamerProfile.ini file in the Far Cry 3 folder in Documents/My Games location.
-Limit the FPS to 60 (especially on DX11).
Did that last night and had several hours of gameplay with no issues whatsoever.

Did not use the Large Address Aware software, that is why I am posting this here.
It helps to set the game in Fullscreen too.

Finally got FC3 working w/o any compatibility mode!
All VC++ packages are required. (2005 - now)
Ubisoft connect wants FC3 and Ubisoft Connect to be installed on the same drive your Windows is installed on.
Therefore, no more "FC3UpdaterSteam.exe not found" prompt. FC3 on Steam works like a dream. No more funny business, hassle free and seamless :D
