Gun preferences
most players in versus will use the pumpshotgun because the stamina meter pops up and not in campaign

•pump shotgun clears faster

•Uzi helps wave-clear hordes, or far off diffictult distance shots

*pistols are your best friend and are underrated. Use them. Just m1(left click) and have a steady aim.
•holding ctrl while shooting can help with accuracy

•Tier 2 weapon decision making is whatever. ( unless solo in campaign or sometimes duo expert campaign stick with one of the shotguns)

•autoshogun clears the fastest when it comes to clearing hordes of zombies

•huntingrifle is good for ranged shots especially when scoped. Instead of pressing m3 button to zoom out, just melee and you'll not be scoped.

•m16 rifle is good for burst fire, consistent damage against tanks or range shots

•holding ctrl while shooting can help with accuracy

Clearing Teammates
When an ally is down you want to focus on shooting all of the zombies off of them. Because you take somewhat more damage when incapped. If you let one common infected hit the incapped teammate, it will restart the meter. Except from fire, they will burn to death, unless you are brave enough to risk your health to save your teammate from dying by holding E as their hp bar goes down.

Shoot the zombies off the incapped teammates but make sure you don't shoot your teammate because you will either hurt or kill them.

Common Infected hit from behind deal half the damage :
Easy-1
Normal-2
Advanced-3
Expert-10

Pipe bombs are a nice way to get them off you guys since they will go attack the pipe bomb. When they start to spawn you can throw.

Molotovs get rid of the mobs faster.
HOW TO SHOOT WITH BOTH SHOTGUNS
(not required, just a skillset to have when learning to play eventually if you start versus)

• Shoot once with left click, then immediately right click as soon you shoot (m1 --> m2 )

° melee any zombie off of you that you did not kill
- for example killing the smoker who is pulling you, but you saved yourself because you meleed him
° Deadstop (stopping a hunter from pouncing you)
° catching yourself from a missed skeet (one shotting the hunter mid-air)
° (I sometimes think it's an animation cancel to prevent cocking the shotgun a lot)

Common Infected hit from behind deal half the damage :
Easy-1
Normal-2
Advanced-3
Expert-10

Pipe bombs are a nice way to get them off you guys since they will go attack the pipe bomb. When they start to spawn you can throw a molotov where they are spawning from to get rid of them faster.
Reloading without shotgun jamming
• never allow the shotgun shells hit 0
• keep a minimum 3 to 5 shells in shotgun chamber
• press Q "Last Weapon" animated from pistol back to pumpshotgun to reset your shot gun reloading animation

× The Less Time in animation, the more time to shoot the zombies instead of being stuck in a long animation of reloading all 8 shells for the pumshotgun ( 10shells for auto shotgun).

× spam that R key on your keyboard and keep your weapons' ammo full

Clearing Common Infected
• the zombies that are standing around, until they are aggro'd to you in some way or another

• aim for center mass, legs, and the chest/head area of the common infected (zombies).

• if you are common locked (trapped in the horde of zombies)
° as you crouch down with ctrl, spin your in a 360 degree circle to break free from being common locked
• while kiting (running away) the zombies
°shoot the first zombie that is trying to cut your pathing off
°shoot the zombie in the face or chest as he raises its arm before slapping.

How to Spot Special Infected
1)Open your eyes
2) Spot an S.I.
3) Tell your team where he is at so they know
4) Die from SI for the lols
5) profit!?
Tank in Campaign
He has various health on each difficulty
• easy he has 3000 hp. Fairly easy to kill
• Normal he has 4000 hp. Also easy to kill.
• Advanced he has 8000 hp. Takes a bit to bring him down
• Expert he also has 8000 hp. Takes a bit to bring him down.
Expert he can down you in one hit and kill you while incap'd in 2 hits.
The tank spawns in usually when players are doing well or just randomly, sometimes 2 tanks will spawn in a chapter.

× To try to save your teammate from AI Tank, melee his back once or twice and shoot the back to take the aggro
• however in return, the one incapped should stop shooting the tank with their pistols

// Players always light the Tank with a molotov or a gas can which will buff his speed making him move faster. Not a great idea to do if you can't juke or out run the tank. Also a tank can outrun you if you are healthy (hp>39). I recommend you don't light the tank, people think it kills him fast although that is true because he has a burnout of 180 seconds. I recommend sharing aggro with the tank (aggro is who he is targeting) Me and my friends share aggro forcing him to change targets and not being able to down his initial target.
Do me a huge favor when you fight a tank, don't light him when a person is 5 feet away from it, because you will just kill your teammate. Don't RUN away from the tank and never shoot at it because its not going to die by itself.\
Tank Slowdown
Slowing down a tank requires a dual pistols but also automatic weapons such as Smg, Assault Rifles.
including an autoshotgun.

The tactic of good kiting is so the tank is unable to hit you. You can use this with him having to climb over an obstacle like a fence, truck, unpunchable prop etc.

It will force him to stop, and climb and slow down even more giving you time to reload or pop some pills. or even to run.
Tank in Versus
• vanilla servers 6000hp
• rotoblin server softcore/pub 7000hp or 7500hp
• rotoblin server hardcore/tournament4v4 mode is 8000hp
The only advice is to ALWAYS shoot the tank as much as you can, and still clear your teammates from other Special Infected
the faster you all shoot the tank, the faster he dies.
the Boomer
50hp vomits bile on survivor which attracts a horde to attack

• simply melee or push away the boomer until there is enough distance in between to kill it

× DO NOT pop the boomer on teammates after THEY have push it away ×

-doesn't help the teammates progression through the campaign especially in versus, slows everyone down

-clear the common infected, just do not shoot him on accident
The Smoker
250 hp who makes some high-pitched rasping and coughing noise. He can pull you away from your teammates and keep ensnarled by him or if someone or something is blocking your path he will keep you there while damaging you.
// If a friend is pinned, smoked HELP them ASAP, because one they're dying, two they live longer hopefully
the Hunter
250 hp he leaps into the air from any surface his feet and hands touch.

Deadstopping means to shove a hunter while hes pouncing to you mid-air.
This is used to prevent a hunter from either pouncing you or your friend.
• Kill him fast or he will repounce you or another teammate
• Instead of pushing the hunter off survivor(s), try to kill the hunter by shooting it off
The Witch
She has 1000 hp and is the girl crying and sitting down while moving her head up and down slowly.

they are easily avoidable but sometimes will spawn in the way

To kill :
•crown
•draw crown
•throw a molotov on her to light her and begin to run away

// unlike the tank she gets rather slower and will burnout in around 12 seconds. You can also Crown the witch, meaning you kill her in ONE SHOT/head shot and not spamming your auto shotgun at her wasting your ammo.

// Also if you get in the way of the Witch when she chases the person who startled her, she will change her target towards you.

On Easy and Normal a witch can be crowned in the body (her lower back), but on Advanced and Expert you must shoot her in the head but sometimes can get away shooting her collarbone/neck area on advance.

The Witch has shotgun resistance on Adv she has 35% on her body and 70% on expert.
---> Skeeting or shooting something in mid-air <----
In Left 4 Dead this applies for a Tank's rock, a hunter, or a dive bombing boomer.

When a tank throws a rock, you can skeet it as it flies towards you.

• Aim for the flattest surface of the rock, or the flat edge when it comes straight at you.
This destroys the rock.

• Or you can simply dodge the rock by holding still. Then when it has been released from the tank's hands, begin to walk left or right.

• The A.I. Tank's rocks are thrown at you to already predict where you will be going.
// so by standing still before you move left or right will be dodging his rocks.

NOTE -- other players in versus who are the tank will try to guess where you will dodge and try to hit you with it causing damage, and make you slow.

You cannot skeet a rock as it leaves the tanks hands, because the rock has a couple of god frames so let it travel about half the distance.

How to play Expert
1) Learn to not shoot teammates because of obvious reasons
2) Clear the common infected, don't shove and walk away
3) Rage quit because you died and will never respawn then join a new expert, and spawn in dead and Rage quit again because you have problems.
4) Rush ahead without a plan, and end up dying making yourself look like a fool for staying with the team
5) Being toxic for no apparent reason.

•Medkits are pretty self explanatory. I will point out though if you or the teammate says "black and white", heal them
- or heal before a tank fight/ horde crescendo
•Pills give you degrading health which goes out in time.
•Don't heal when someone takes pills because you just wasted his pills
Be a Teamplayer
Help the team! Stay by the them! Help clear the zombies with each other! Left 4 Dead wasn't called Co-op for no reason haha

I know it's the internet and players will still play for themselves and rush ahead, but if they do- let them. Every player has their own pace of learning and different experiences. However, if you're toxic to your team, they will most likely not help you. However if you are nice and are buddies during the game, you will have an easier play through by having each others' back.

My favorite thing to do in campaign is to duo with a friend of mine, or sometimes even solo.

My favorite parts about playing versus is attackinging as the infected by slowing the survivors down, playing the tank, and skeeting the hunters.

>I hope you enjoyed my guide, I appreciate you and have fun in Left 4 Dead! Keep this game alive
