99% WORKING CRASH FIX

I think everyone in 2023 after the update encountered the problem of the game crashing after 20-40 minutes. So I looked for a lot of ways, tried a lot of things, but only recently, one method helped me.

Where does the problem come from?

So. Perhaps you, like me, have played 150 hours of a game with crashes. STOP BEING PATIENT! I thought for a long time what the problem was, I tried many solutions, but all that worked was to increase the duration of a quiet game.

The problem is that the game don't good support direct x11 (or dx11) well. So disabling it in the settings won't help at all.
This is because Steam will always run the farcry3_d3d11.exe file without warning. All we need is to run farcry3.exe

Fix

In fact, everything is very simple, run the farcry3.exe file, but in this case there will be no Steam overlay.

Therefore, I will tell you the easiest way to run this file through Steam.

Go to the folder with the game. There will be farcry3_dx11.exe, remove it with farcry3_d3d11.dll. Then rename the file farcry.exe to farcry3_d3d11.exe and that's it. I ONLY suggest turning off dx11 in the game settings also.

mine actually crashed much more after changing to dx9, in every loading screen.

Великолепный план, надежный как швейцарские часы. Стим не запускает после этих махинаций игру со всем и выбивает ошибку.

I check mine it always run farcry3.exe and not run farcry3_d3d11.exe if i delete farcry3_d3d11.exe and rename farcry3.exe steam wouldn't run

to deceive the game and run the dx9 version instead of dx11

You actually gave me the solution. I have tried EVERYTHING I have looked up, and nothing worked. Kept crashing while saving Lisa, then I had to see the entire Vaas cutscene and the escape over 10 times. Thanks so much for the solution.
