Intro
Hi

You might have notced that annoying font that appears near every object in the TE hat mode. Its not only unreadable but also covers a big part of the game world and is more of a pain than help.

I browsed the game files a bit and found out that you can easily replace it with text that is not only inobtrusive but also actually helpful.

Note: I am doing this on ubuntu but the guide can also be applied to windows in whole.
Locating the files
Lets get started:
1. Open your steam library and right click on Hack 'n' Slash. From the drop down menu select "Properties"

<<Screen>>

2. Select the "Local Files" tab and click “Browse Local Files”.

<screen>
3. From your game folder navigate to /Linux/Munged/Fonts if you're on Linux or \Win\Munged\Fonts if you're on windows.

<screen>

4. This folder presumably contains all the fonts used by the game including that cypher from the hat mode. The files we are interested in are named “Glyphs.fnt” and “Glyphs.png” - these are the ones we need to replace.
Replacing the glyphs
5. Rename both files to something else like “_Glyphs.fnt” and “_Glyphs.png” or “xGlyphs.fnt” and “xGlyphs.png” so its easy to revert just in case.

<screen>

6. Now copy and paste “CourierNew.fnt” and “CourierNew_0.png” within the same folder and rename the copies to “Glyphs.fnt” and “Glyphs.png”

7. Enjoy

Well, I for example, didn't figure out to press E on the crypted board after I decrypted the key with the "5 jumping wizards" and I had to go back through time.

this is really pointless, since there's a way to make the glyphs readble ingame like 6 rooms after you get the hat

Ive made this guide before making the glyphs readable ingame. But still, why wait? The glyphs are a huge pain in the ass.

Why not just solve the in-game puzzle to make the glyphs readable instead? I'd have thought that was an order of magnitude simpler.
