==YOU AND YOUR HAN-D==
The contents of this book are intended solely for the purposes of maintaining your own HAN-D Model X Janitor Automaton, demonstrating the parts and pieces of your HAN-D model. Please do not use this guide for maintenance of other HAN-D models.
==MODEL OVERVIEW==
==NO MANUAL GIVEN FOR HAN-D MODEL==

Despite the lack of in-game advice for HAN-D, this janitor robot is a massive powerhouse, being able to easily slam through crowds and bosses alike, all while deftly sustaining itself through its drones - or perhaps using them for other benefits. While a slow and sluggish character at first, proper mastery of HAN-D’s abilities can lead to some devastating results as it FORCEFULLY REASSEMBLES anything that dare stand in its way.

==GENERAL USAGE==
HAN-D is a melee bruiser who loves to be in the thick of things, using its HURT and FORCED_REASSEMBLY to handle crowds with stuns and knockback, and healing any damage with its drones. It requires a little bit of finesse, understanding the timings on its skills and when to use OVERCLOCK, and general movement to dodge attacks.

However, when everything comes together, and you cycle or use HAN-D’s skills at the right time, it is an absolute powerhouse quickly pushing through light enemies and deal some serious damage to heavy ones.

==HULL STATISTICS==

HAN-D is a high health and damage bruiser.

==STANDARD CLEANUP PROTOCOL==

==RECHARGE TIME - N/A==
==CHARGES - N/A==

HAN-D’s sole primary skill.

Punches a moderate distance in front of you at a slow rate for 180% damage, piercing all hit enemies. This piercing possesses no pierce decay, and thus no damage is lost when piercing multiple targets.

Attacks at an approximate interval of 1 attack every 1.1 seconds, with no significant recovery between attacks.

Applies a heavy knockback to all targets hit.

==HARVESTER-CLASS REPAIR DRONES==

==RECHARGE TIME - N/A==
==CHARGES - 10==

HAN-D’s default secondary skill.

Fire a drone that homes in on a nearby enemy for 190% damage. On a successful hit, the drone returns to HAN-D and heals 8% of HAN-D’s maximum health, before being destroyed. The drone has no apparent range limit, though if there is no enemies present, the drone is not expended.

Holds 10 charges. Has no cooldown - instead, HAN-D starts at zero charges (drones) and gains charges through killing enemies. All charges are removed upon changing stages.

The obligatory melee helper tool, which allows HAN-D to convert its kills into health. Spread out when you throw out a drone in order to maximize your healing potential, and remember, 8% is a lot, allowing you to potentially come out of a fight with your health bar only being somewhat decreased, or even entirely unscathed.

==ATMOSPHERIC-DRAIN NANODRONES==

==RECHARGE TIME - N/A==
==CHARGES - 10==

HAN-D’s alternate secondary skill.

Fire a drone that homes in on a nearby enemy for 190% damage. On a successful hit, the drone returns to HAN-D and increases its attack speed by 10% for upwards of 3-4 seconds, before being destroyed. Reapplications of the buff appear to reset the duration. The 10% increase stacks additively, with no known limit. The drone has no apparent range limit, though if there is no enemies present, the drone is not expended.

Holds 10 charges. Has no cooldown - instead, HAN-D starts at zero charges (drones) and gains charges through killing enemies. All charges are removed upon changing stages.

A much more risky drone option as HAN-D no longer has any means of defense besides OVERCLOCK and FORCED_REASSEMBLY, but if you can dodge, it provides a huge DPS boost with its (presumably) infinite attack speed stacking on top of any other attack speed boost.

==VOLATILE VENT DRONES==

==RECHARGE TIME - N/A==
==CHARGES - 10==

HAN-D’s tertiary secondary skill.

Fire a drone that homes in on a nearby enemy exploding on contact for 500% in a small blast radius. On a successful hit, HAN-D’s OVERCLOCK, provided it is currently active, has its duration extended by a small amount. The drone has no apparent range limit, though if there is no enemies present, the drone is not expended.

Holds 10 charges. Has no cooldown - instead, HAN-D starts at zero charges (drones) and gains charges through killing enemies. All charges are removed upon changing stages.

By and far the most skill-focused of the three drone options, this drone offers increases to the powerful OVERCLOCK, as well as having higher damage by a significant margin (500% over 190%). If you’re confident, this is the drone to choose.

==TEMPORARY PROCESSING ENHANCEMENT==

==RECHARGE TIME - 7 SECONDS==
==CHARGES - 1==

HAN-D’s sole utility skill.

On activation, HAN-D’s attack speed and chances to stun on hit are increased by 30% each. HAN-D’s movement speed is also increased by a flat 1.5 km/h while in use (approx. 5% increase over the base 28 km/h). By default, OVERCLOCK lasts for approximately 3 seconds. However, its duration can be slightly increased whenever you attack an enemy, exentding its duration beyond that.

Holds 1 charge. Has a cooldown of 7 seconds, which does not begin until the skill ends.

This is HAN-D’s biggest asset, boosting its attack speed, movement speed, and chance to stun on hit by a large margin, allowing it to brutally punch or hammer enemies to death. Careful management of the skill’s duration can allow for some serious ripping and tearing.

==MASS CLEANUP PROTOCOL==

==RECHARGE TIME - 5 SECONDS==
==CHARGES - 1==

HAN-D’s default special skill.

Swing your hammer forward, hitting in a large area in front of you and slightly behind you after a short wind up for 500%. Hit enemies are knocked into the air a fair distance.

Holds 1 charge. Has a cooldown of 5 seconds.

HAN-D’s sole mass crowd control skill, hitting for high damage and knocking foes into the air. The wind-up requires good timing, but with it comes great results.

If you possess an Ancient Scepter, FORCED_REASSEMBLY is upgraded to UNETHICAL REASSEMBLY, which in addition to FORCED_REASSEMBLY’s normal effects, also causes it to stun on hit and shock on hit, which is around 33% total damage.

==MATERIAL DECONSTRUCTION PROTOCOL==

==RECHARGE TIME - 5 SECONDS==
==CHARGES - 1==

HAN-D’s alternate special skill.

You saw all enemies a short distance in front of you for 5 hits at 95% damage each, scaling with attack speed (in-game description of 90% is incorrect). Attack speed scaling is equal to 5 (base number of hits) multiplied by attack speed, rounded up. You can move while using the skill, albeit slowly.

Holds 1 charge. Has a cooldown of 5 seconds.

A much more rip-and-tear approach for HAN-D, trading crowd control for large crowd damage and procs, but is notably more risky, despite being able to move while using it.

If you possess an Ancient Scepter, DISASSEMBLE is upgraded to DISMANTLE, which in addition to DISASSEMBLE’s normal effects, also causes a burn effect, dealing 20% total damage over time, lasting 15 seconds. This burn effect can only last on one enemy at a time,

==PROTOCOL ACQUISITIONS==
==ACQUISITION==
==FIND THE ROBOT JANITOR==
==GRANTS HAN-D==

Reach Risk of Rain (the final stage on the UES Contact Light). Make sure you are on the first variant of Risk of Rain, not the second - you’ll know it’s the first variant when, while by the two blast doors leading into the final boss, the crevice that is halfway up or down the ladder is up (close the room with the Gauss Cannon). While on this variant of Risk of Rain, go to the 2nd room from the top of the stage that is at the left side, and interact with the grey shipping container that is towards the bottom of the stack. Doing so unlocks HAN-D.

==ATMOSPHERIC-DRAIN NANODRONE==
==COMPLETE THE PROVIDENCE TRIAL "ROUTINE MAINTENANCE"==
==GRANTS DRONE - SPEED==

Routine Maintenance is one of the more notoriously difficult Providence Trials to complete, requiring lots of movement and repositioning to move enemies around. And that’s really it - skill. You have to understand how to position yourself (and herd together bison, golems, etc.) in order to knock enemies away - make use of the attack speed boost provided by DRONE - SPEED. After that though, it’s all up to you.

==OBTAIN A GOLDEN DRONE==
==GRANTS DRONE - BLAST==

Get lucky. That’s it. Pray you get lucky that you find it. If your luck is terrible, honestly I wouldn’t blame you for modifying your save file just to unlock it.

==MATERIAL DECONSTRUCTION PROTOCOL==
==KILL 15 ENEMIES AT ONCE USING THE SAWMERANG==
==GRANTS DISASSEMBLE==

Depending how far you get into the game you might actually get this accidentally - I did - but grab the Artifact of Command when you can to ensure obtain the Sawmerang. I would recommend cranking your damage dealt in the ruleset to 200% just to ensure all the damage is dealt. After that, line up a group of 15 or more enemies by letting the game spawn some for a bit - Lemurians are great for this - and go nuts. Using Command to stack Rapid Mitosis can also help if you struggle to consistently use Sawmerang.
==UNVERIFIED PROTOCOLS==
==PROTOCOLS AND MODIFICATIONS UNVERIFIED BY THE==
==MANUFACTURERS==

==PUNCH BUFFER==
If you use your special skill just as HURT ends, the endlag of HURT is skipped and the special skill is activated

==PUNCH STALL==
HURT, unlike the majority of melee attacks in the game, does not lunge HAN-D forward. As such, you can stand on an edge indefinitely and use HURT without worry of sending yourself off of it.

==BACKUP DRONES==
Backup Magazines increase your maximum drones stored by 1 per stack, allowing you to stockpile more drones past the base 10.

==JUMPING REASSEMBLY==
While it doesn’t take much to put two and two together and realize you can use FORCED_REASSEMBLY while falling, you can jump while using the skill as well, allowing you to avoid damage while finishing out the skill’s wind-up animation. As a side note, you can, like many channeled skills, also b-hop by pressing jump (or using autojump) as the skill plays out to slowly inch forward.

==OTHER MAINTENANCE ADVICE==
  • Remember that while slow in feeling, HAN-D’s base speed is the same as all other survivors. You are not as slow as you think you are
  • Time which skills are important for the current situation. HURT is best when you’re generally dealing with enemies to knock them around, FORCED_REASSEMBLY to deal with a crowd or damage heftier targets, DRONE - HEAL when you’re starting to reach notably low amounts of health, and so on
  • Conserve your drones. Remember, they only recharge when you kill something, so use them sparingly and only as needed unless you can ensure you are able to obtain the kills required to make at the very least a 1:1 trade. However, worst-case scenario, don’t be afraid to throw out all of your drones either if it ensures your survival
  • Make use of b-hopping whenever possible for HAN-D, due to its lack of mobility skills compared to other melee characters
  • Play with a level head. Enemies will ultimately have to come to you at the end of the day, so if you can’t quite reach one enemy, you can try baiting them into coming towards you - this is especially crucial to fighting Providence as HAN-D, as HAN-D, being unable to actively pursue or attack at long ranges, instead uses Providence’s teleportation to bait and then punish
  • Time your OVERCLOCK well - for example, if you’re only fighting a small handful of Lemurians, using OVERCLOCK may not be the best of decisions. Better to instead save it for something bulkier, like a Stone Golem or Sand Crab, or for larger crowds. The stun and attack speed bonuses (and to an extent, the movement speed bonus) are incredibly useful for saving your skin or putting in more DPS to take down heavy targets. In a pinch when there’s nothing threatening around though, OVERCLOCK can also be used as a (rather expensive) mobility skill, due to its movement speed boost, but do note the boost isn’t anything major and won’t necessarily help you close a gap (or run away) better.
  • Run if things get hairy. This is true for any character, but HAN-D, due to its lack of sustain besides DRONE - HEAL and FORCED_REASSEMBLY, especially wants to pick and choose its fights, in order to conserve health and drones. Remember - you should only stay in the thick of a fight if you know you can consistently beat up enemies and regain your drones

==CLOSING REMARKS==
HAN-D is a really fun character that is somewhat misunderstood, due to its slow and sluggish game feel. However, when handled correctly, HAN-D turns into an incredible bruiser with great damage and reasonable self-sustain, as well as being a great bait and punish character, even more so than something like Enforcer or Sniper. HAN-D of course isn’t the pinnacle of the game’s balance, but it’s pretty close all things considered, and is generally a solid mid or mid-high tier in terms of character strength. HAN-D isn’t entirely free from needing tweaks though, which I’ve proposed here[docs.google.com].

Hope this guide helps you all, and please return this handbook to the UES Contact Light ASAP.

You can also find HAN-D on variant 2 of Risk Of Rain. His crate is on an elevated platform in either of the middle compartments, although I can't remember which one exactly.

Yeah no it was a complete mistake in-writing that I guess somehow got past editing lol. It doesn't have a limited range provided there is an enemy somewhere - otherwise, if there's nothing present, it'll fly in the direction you're facing a certain range, and them come back to you without expending a drone
Chimemorphic 16 Feb, 2024 @ 7:44am
Drones has a limited range? I swear it still homes into the Tuber on the opposite end of the map while I'm clearing the stage post tele
