Check for Malware and Viruses
Malwarebytes is a powerful anti-malware software designed to detect and remove various types of malicious software from your computer. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to use Malwarebytes:

Download and Install:

Visit the official Malwarebytes website and download the latest version of the software.
Run the installer and follow the on-screen instructions to install Malwarebytes on your computer.

Launch Malwarebytes:

Once the installation is complete, launch Malwarebytes. You can find the program in your Start menu or desktop shortcut.

Update the Database:

Before scanning, it's essential to ensure that Malwarebytes has the latest malware definitions. Click on the "Settings" tab, go to the General section, and click the "Check for updates" button.

Run a Threat Scan:

On the Malwarebytes dashboard, click on the Scan tab.
Select the type of scan you want to perform. The Threat Scan is the most comprehensive and is usually sufficient for regular use.
Click the Start Scan button to initiate the scan.

Review Scan Results:

Once the scan is complete, Malwarebytes will display a list of detected threats.
Review the list and, if needed, click the Quarantine button to remove the identified threats. Malwarebytes will quarantine the files, making them harmless.

Quarantine and Removal:

Click on the Quarantine tab to view the items that have been quarantined.
Review the quarantined items and, if you are sure they are malicious, click the Delete All button to permanently remove them from your system.

Examine Scan Logs:

Malwarebytes keeps a log of scan results, which can be useful for future reference. Click on the Reports tab to view the scan logs.

Schedule Scans (Optional):

For added convenience, you can schedule regular scans to ensure ongoing protection. Navigate to the Scheduler tab in the settings and set up a scan schedule that suits your preferences.

Real-Time Protection (Premium Version):

Malwarebytes offers real-time protection in its premium version. This feature continuously monitors your system for threats and prevents malware from executing. If you have the premium version, ensure real-time protection is enabled in the settings.

Stay Informed:

Regularly check for updates to Malwarebytes to ensure you have the latest features and malware definitions for optimal protection.
Remember that while Malwarebytes is effective, it's advisable to complement it with a reputable antivirus program for comprehensive security. Regularly updating your operating system and practicing safe browsing habits also contribute to a more secure computing environment.

Set your Monitor Refresh Rate
Windows does not default to using the maximum refresh rate for your connected Monitor or TV. If you've got a monitor with a high refresh rate, then you need to turn the setting on both on the monitor and in Windows.

Right-click on your desktop and click Display settings

Scroll down until you see Advanced display settings

Then scroll down to refresh rate and click the dropdown. From there select your monitor's maximum refresh rate (Highest Number).

Adjust Windows Start-up settings
Many of the apps you install will automatically force themselves into start-up processes. So when you turn on your PC and log in to Windows those apps will open be waiting for you. This is not helpful as the apps then become background processes. The background processes take up valuable resources and make our game and PC slower.

Press CTRL+SHIFT+ESC to launch Task Manager

Look for the Startup tab and click that

Search through the list of apps and look for anything that you don't use regularly

Right-click on the offending apps and click disable

Update your Graphics Drivers
If you want the best performance it's important to make sure that Windows is updated regularly. You should also make sure that your graphics card drivers are also updated.

The easiest way to do this with Nvidia graphics cards is to use GeForce Experience. When that's downloaded and installed there's an option in there to automatically download and install drivers. Click to turn that on and install the latest ones whenever they're released.

Turn on Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling
Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling allows your machine to optimise performance and reduce latency. If you have the right hardware (a recent graphics card) and are running Windows 10 or 11 then you can easily turn this setting on

Press the Start button and search for Graphics Settings

Then click to turn on Hardware-accelerated GPU Scheduling

Scroll down and view the settings for "graphics performance preference" from there you can choose
the app to set your preference.

*For Nvidia, this is the Nvidia Control panel. You can select this as a desktop app or Microsoft Store app via the dropdown

Click on the app, click options and select high-performance

Repeat for any game where you want maximum performance

Disable Windows notifications
Windows has a setting to disable notifications at specific times or when certain things are happening. So this is a great way to ensure no more pesky pop-ups to ruin your fun.

To access the settings follow these steps:

Press the Windows start button on your PC or keyboard and type Focus Assist

In the focus settings click on notifications - "alerts from apps and system, do not disturb"

Find the setting "turn on do not disturb automatically"

Tick "when playing a game"

Alternatively, you can select specific times of day for the do-not-disturb mode to turn on.

GPU (NVIDIA Control Panel)

In-Game Optimized Competitive Settings

Increased Performance:

Minimum graphic settings reduce the demand on the computer's hardware, leading to higher frame rates and smoother gameplay. This is particularly important in a fast-paced game like Rocket League, where quick reactions and precise control are crucial.

Reduced Input Lag:

Lowering graphic settings can help minimize input lag, the delay between a player's actions (such as pressing a button or moving the joystick) and the corresponding on-screen response. Reduced input lag enhances the responsiveness of controls.

Competitive Advantage:

Players prioritize performance over visual aesthetics to gain a competitive advantage. Higher frame rates and lower input lag can provide a more responsive gaming experience, giving players an edge in online matches.

Consistent Frame Rates:

Minimum graphic settings help maintain consistent frame rates, preventing sudden drops or fluctuations. Consistent frame rates contribute to a smoother gaming experience without disruptions.

Focus on Gameplay:

By using minimum graphic settings, players can focus on the core gameplay elements without distractions. Cluttered or detailed graphics may be visually appealing, but high ranked players prefer a cleaner and simpler visual style for better concentration.
