How to replace the music!
By thoma5nator
This quick guide will show you how to replace the ADX files in the game, and ultimately customise the soundtrack to your preference.

The full thing!
Begin by first making sure you have a working MP3 to ADX converter. If you don't feel like using commandline I suggest using the PES Sound File Converter[www.gamefront.com]. Extract that to its own directory and open PESSFC.exe - the guide assumes you are using this to move forward but if you know how to make .adx files yourself in a better way skip ahead.

Now drag 'n' drop your (hopefully legally obtained) music into PESSFC, and set it to convert from MP3 to ADX as in the picture below.

And click Next -> when done.

You can use the source directory, but let's be sneaky and change the path (the text box at the bottom) to your Crazy Taxi install directory and add \SoundData\music_adx to it. So your path might be something like:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Crazy Taxi\SoundData\music_adx

or

<drive letter>\Steam\steamapps\common\Crazy Taxi\SoundData\music_adx

(copy and paste those into the white text box at the bottom of the above screen in PESSFC to speed things up a bit - it saves a lot of file finding and drag/dropping)

Leave the rest of the options as is for now. Click Convert -> when done.

And now we wait... until we have something like this screen:

Done. You know that folder we just set it to output to? Open it.

(you know
<steam library path>\steamapps\common\Crazy Taxi\SoundData\music_adx
? That one?)

In front of us are many sacrifices. What you will have to do is choose one for each track you wish to replace. Choose a track at random from this folder, preferably not name_loop.adx and preferably not one you've just converted. Rename it to <name>.old.adx.

Take one of your new tracks and rename it to the name you just took from one of the tracks. Be sure to exactly copy everything about the name. Hell, just copy/paste it.

Okay, we're done here. Pros: customised the tracks for this game. Cons: Will never hear that track again. Oh well.

I know this is old guide, but the PES converter isn't available anymore. You know of any good alternatives?

I can confirm that renaming the wav files from the Android port of Crazy Taxi works too.

I may actually be doing a tutorial on the in's-and-out's of adxencd at some point, heh.

Yeah. GUI programs over command line tools for the less techincally apt of us. If you can use them though more power to you.

PES File Converter is somewhat limited, I prefer to use adxencd.exe for all my stuff!
However, I ain't gonna knock people for keeping it simple. Have at it and have fun.
