Before you venture on, allow me to introduce you to some basic information regarding the game:


Town of Salem, also known as ToS, is an online RPG multiplayer game. It consists of murder, deception, lying and mob hysteria. It challenges its players' lying ability and if they know who else is lying. The game ranges from 7-15 players. These players are randomly divided into alignments (roles).


ToS = Town of Salem
townie = a good citizen within Town of Salem
TT = town traitor

LyLo = lynch or lose (meaning if the Town does not lynch an evil role that day, they will lose)

Now, when you first create an account and click "Play" you are going to be confused due to the amount of modes there are. The go-to for beginners would be "Classic" which is listed under "Normal." In this guide, I will not describe or go into depth about all of the game modes. But, I suggest testing all of them at least once when you are comfortable.

Hello! Firstly, let me say that Town of Salem - Coven is the expansion pack to Town of Salem (in case you did not know, haha). There is not much of a difference in the expansion other than some different roles, classes and modes. In this section you will see pretty much similar information to the original Tos one.

Ambusher's role is Mafia Killing.

• As Ambusher, your ability is to lie and wait outside your targets' house. Ambusher has a Basic attack but no defense.You can only choose one townie to 'ambush' per night. If anyone visits your target that same night and they are non-mafia you will attack them. But, ALL visitors will know your name and that you are an Ambusher.
  
• Attribute Of Being Ambusher: You will attack one player who visits your target.
  
• Your goal in the game as Ambusher: Kill anyone that will not submit to the Mafia.

• As Arsonist, your ability is to douse players in gasoline each night. You can douse only one target per night. If you are visited at night, you will automatically douse the visitor/visitors. When ready to ignite, all you have to do is select yourself. This will deal an unstoppable attack to each doused player.
  
• Attribute Of Being Arsonist: Aside from dousing visitors and being able to select yourself to ignite any doused players, if you take no action, you will attempt to clean gasoline off of yourself.

  So, obviously this seems tricky (and no doubt, will be) due to the fact your class is Blackmailer and you actually know who your fellow Mafia members are visiting. But, you do NOT want to out them. So, I always suggest playing along with the first example and maybe even pretend you are 'afk' on Day 1 --> Day 2. Nonetheless, practice makes perfect.

Bodyguard's role is Town Protective.

As you can see in the above screenshot, I was lucky enough to play as the class "Veteran." As seen in the screenshot, the "Alert" button was not glowing because I decided that it was not worth it to alert that first night (I never suggest to 'Alert' until at least night 2/night 3). So, for n1 (night 1) I listed it as 'did not alert.'



I typically use "Notes" to list numbers 1-15 (excluding whatever number I, myself is at that moment) and then write next to them whether they 'claimed' a role or if they were confirmed/verified to be what they said they were.

• If the Framer or Hex Master uses their ability on a player and an Investigator checks the said player, the player will appear as Framer, Vampire, or Jester (for Classic), and Framer, Vampire, Jester, or Hex Master (for Coven).
  
• If a a player is doused, the Investigator results will appear as Bodyguard, Godfather, or Arsonist (for Classic), and Bodyguard, Godfather, Arsonist, or Crusader (for Coven).
