Let me tell you a story.
A guy found out that if you start the game in Steam Big Picture Mode, you can type in a name longer than the normal character limit. Like an idiot, he emailed Bandai Namco asking if this was OK to do. They told him "Your account is fine for now, but From says they saw unusual activity on your account which warrants further investigation."
He was subsequently softbanned. Let's face it, what probably happened was that by asking, he brought FROM's attention on him for his extra long name and they banned him for that.
And yet some dudes have gotten banned.
So there's three scenarios:
1) Either all of those people are lying and they edited something else that caused softbans.
2) FROM actually implemented some rudimentary anticheat that nobody has found that catches DS2Fix (not likely). DS2FIx is harmless. If it detects DS2Fix in this manner, there is a chance it will also detect and ban for, say, x360ce. Since, let's face it, FROM is not exactly a bastion of PC technical competence. This is not likely, because if this were true scores of hackers would have been banned and they really haven't been.
3) FROM hosed up and are basically banning people at random for imagined infractions, because Europa hasn't been touched yet.
As for SoTFS, there's already a working CE table to unsoftban yourself right now. As for DX9 users, my suggestion is wait until the DX9 stealth server files for DX9 are released once they can't be fixed without overhauling the entire security, or wait/hope for the CE guy's to get you a table working asap. Demand means a lot on the CE forums, so the more who ask for a DX9 ver the better and faster your chances.
Good luck, from the scene, yours truly
