X-Z, operations, #

Operations (sum and difference) are combining a plus (+) or a minus (-) to two numbers (as well as the additional recipe for sum that does NOT include a sign, which allows up to three and four numbers to be added). Not the hash symbol! Crucially for the difference recipe, the numbers must be DIFFERENT numbers, which is a very weird distinction (and obviously, they must not add above 9 or subtract below 0, as a factory can only generate one output and does not (sadly) count in base 36).
$, %, &

% has an additional recipe, that is
0 + 0 + -
but this recipe is glitched. The game acts as if you already have this recipe even if you've never made it before, and it never shows up in your recipe book. Very strange!

If 3 recipe guides weren't bad enough...

However, two are from an older version (with one of those unfortunately missing most of the screenshots) and the other one is incomplete (and I found way too many on my own to simply just comment my findings there!). So I took what recipes I could from the three guides, as well as from the comment sections of those guides (and this guide. huge thanks to, jovpet1! and thanks ElderAxe for managing to find a couple more after all this time!), and completed it with my own discoveries!

I've tried many different combinations and orientations (I even experimented with question marks, fruitlessly), but obviously I haven't brute-forced EVERY combination, so there's probably more left to be discovered (hopefully no more B's or H's). Do let me know if there's any that I missed (that are from the updated game, as recipes have changed in previous versions).

END GOALS:
  • Find ALL the recipes (we might've done it? thanks Wrothmonk for checking!)
  • Contemplate the letter B
  • Argue with the dev that v+^+- makes *, and that bending a question mark should result in an exclamation point, and that if I+)+) makes sense for B, then why doesn't I+I+)+) like the flipped C and sideways U work with, and why does no other orientation of 4 + I make an H too, and that rotating, flipping, and bending a G totally makes sense for either @ or Q, and why does sideways flipped bent S turn into ~ but sideways flipped bent ~ doesn't result in S
  • Eat more bowls of chicken noodle soup
  • Add more to the end goals list. Hopefully in chicken noodle soup form. Maybe alphabet soup?

you said that there is an extra percentage (%) recipe right?
Well, It Seems that the game thinks of it as 0 - 0 instead of 0 + 0 + -, which makes it the difference operation.

still here! good luck on the door and key puzzles!

@MikuSama A commenter? I haven't seen one here in months. Wonder if Olipolygon will still comment

This guide is fairly nice, but unfortunately, it didn't help me solve the key and door level... at least, not with only 5 machines... how? anyways, great resource! Thanks for this

No i dont Enjoy the letter B ok but WHY ARE THERE SO MANY B's
olipolygon  [author] 22 Sep, 2024 @ 7:40pm
huh! so the game considers zero minus zero to be a valid difference recipe but it produces a % sign? weird! you should probably report that as a bug
SweetSloth 22 Sep, 2024 @ 10:43am
@olipolygon I actually just tried the glitchy recipe for % = 0 + 0 + - , and what it unlocked was the difference recipe despite producing a % sign. The bug was not where we thought!

@oliopolygon thanks for replying! I thought no one was gonna reply to my message. kinda weird how the bend K is seperated from the rotation of it, most likley why I missed it

also thanks for explaining the sum and difference, might help some people. (btw you said the numbers must be different, that only applies to the difference.)

I've also found a bunch more recipes that you can find here . could you maybe link it in the description?

as always, fire in the hole :GDNormal: :GDNormal: :GDNormal:

@Wrothmonk my theory is this: some programs just won't function without old out of date or unusual files not being there. games will initialize a certain way and load up certain assets, and developers filtering through these assets and removing the dependencies might cause more problems than just leaving the file in, especially if it's small.

hey, it does make me feel a little happy inside that we just might've found all the recipes though! thanks for looking into it!

@xXCoolKidXx hey thanks for the support! the lack of updated guides kinda weirded me out too, especially considering there's 3 of them, so that's why i slapped one together.

X = bend K is actually in there, it's just not a secret recipe. might be why you missed it, but it's a standard recipe. i didn't know whether or not i should've included the glitched % recipe, especially given it's a more complicated one than the other % recipes that exist (so its use wouldn't help anyone, it'd just be a novelty), but i can include it if you'd like, as well as describe the operations (they are kind of weird recipes, to be fair!).
