So prefacing this by saying: this is cheating. No argument about it. But also: don't be mean to others for doing this. Remember that this is a Single-player video game; people are allowed to play however they want! It's all for fun, and you'll live just fine if some rando on the internet you've never met decides to cheat in a video game.

I personally find the game so much less fun after the rewind powers are taken away. I know that's to make the ZEd curse more valuable, but even with rewind powers it has its uses (with ZEd, you keep items and information, whereas you don't with rewind; also either way you need to get rid of the curse to beat the game),

I prefer to self-regulate rewinding rather than it being taken away from me, and I like rewinding specific encounters in order to see all the different options and dialogue. No rewind makes the game more annoying than challenging, in my opinion.

Also, I don't like getting stuck in an infinite inescapable death loop without ZEd and being forced to rewind all my progress back to outside Mampang. It's happened a lot to me, usually in No Beacon runs where I don't wanna take the curse to begin with.

(I also know you're supposed to be able to meet Libra in the bronze dome to get a rewind point, but she doesn't ever show up there for me.)

So I eventually had enough. I couldn't find anything about how to give it back online, so I tried editing my save file to see if I could figure it out. And I did!! So I'm posting a guide about how I did it in case anyone else wants to do this.

Please note that I am using Linux, so all info pertaining to Windows is secondhand info; it should work, but if it doesn't, let me know in the comments and I'll try to update the guide. (I know nothing about Mac, sorry.)

So first things first, start the game and get into the walls of Mampang any way you wish. After your rewind powers are so annoyingly taken away, close the game.

Next, navigate to your save files.

On Linux, this would be in:


And on Windows:


I am unsure about Mac, but if i were to make an educated guess, it'd probably be the same as Linux? (If any mac users can confirm or deny this, I'll try to update the guide.)

Next, back up your saves just in case. (Simply copy the entire folder over to somewhere else, like your documents folder or something).

Next, open the LAST file in the folder (the original folder, not the copied one ^_^) with Archive Manager if you're on Linux, or 7zip if on windows. (NOT winrar or winzip, DON'T extract.) Right click the file inside that, and open it in Notepadqq if Linux, or Notepad++ if Windows. (Keep the AM/7zip window open!)

When the file opens, hit CTRL-F to search, then navigate to the "replace" tab.
In the Find box, enter In the Replace box, enter


^ Like this! ^

Then simply click "Replace All", and save the file. In the AM/7zip window, it should ask you if you want to update the file; click "yes".

With it all saved, you can safely close everything and re-open the game. You should be inside Mampang with the ability to rewind, and able to use it as many times as you wish! (Though, you'll probably have to edit the save again if you rewind to a place *outside* Mampang and go back in ^^)
