True the Reset is mostly for the ironman not dying challenge or if you lose someone thats important to the team you dont got double

I just use practice mode. Scores and level unlocks apply just as in Commander Mode + the added benefit of a "Restart" button and a "Try Again" button when things go wrong. That way I don't have to go all the way back to the station (in a random spawn location) and have to reselect and reload the map. (Generally do this when trying S grade attempts).
