So, what's all the fuzz about?

Surprisingly, we have been blessed by the modding community, with an amazing map which you'll never thought it could been found in the workshop!

The main premise of the map is pretty basic at first glance:
  • Get seeds
  • Plant them
  • Harvest
  • Repeat

Simple right?

BUT, trust me, there's is SO MUCH more you can do, and it's a pleasant surprise when you find out about it!.

Basically it's a farming simulator in NMRiH!
1st Play-through (Almost 10h)
How it all began
Max and I decided to try out the map for the first time, and boy we were in for a big surprise!

When we first saw the farm, we were really stunned by how pretty it looked. We were running around like crazy finding all the new stuff, reading all sort of information about the mechanics and what not, and of course the main attraction, farming!

Our first few hours, we were trying to figure out how to remove the debris you find at the farmland, how to plant and take care of the crops (planting the seeds and watering them) and finally, how to harvest them once they were fully grown.

Day / Night Cycle
Also, we found about the Day / Night cycle the hard way hahaha. We stayed outside the whole day and all of a sudden the screen starts to fade out. Next thing we know we were dead! Nonetheless, we learned our lesson and the moment night started approaching, we dropped everything we were doing to rush in to the safety of our home.

At first glance, we didn't see any zombies or possible threats for the farm, so we thought that there were no zombies and just focused on farming, but boy this map keeps on surprising us when we reached Day 7!

Blood Moon / Raids Days
During Day 7, we got our first raid at the farm (We started to call it Raids or Blood Moon). Just like any NMS, get ready to defend! The thing is, we weren't prepared for the amount of zombies and to make things even worse we only had 1 Kitchen Knife and 1 Cleaver to our names (We found out about the Hatchet, that's literally right outside later on xD), so you could guess the outcome of that day.

Exploration and new Locations
Moving forward, we got hooked with the farming loop, and managed to discover the Springs and most important, the Town!

Once we got used to the Day / Night cycle and the Raids, we decided to go explore the path leading outside the farm and learning the different routes to the other places.

At that moment, we didn't know much about the Springs or what you could do in it, so we didn't pay too much attention to it for the time being.

On the other hand, once we reached the Town, it was a big relief!

Finally, we could spend our hard earned money on all sorts of stuff!
  • Seeds
  • Guns and Ammo
  • New Buildings
  • Meds
  • Bunch of decorations and props for the house

ZE DISCOVERING OF DA COFFEE
One of the BIGGEST items you MUST have, the STRONG COFFEE! This single drink, is a game changer.

We had spent around 3 or 4h iirc so far, and we were going at "vanilla" speed. Max was the one who found out about it and it was AMAZING. Just the fact that we could go from the farm to the town, in seconds, was really game changer for us.

Thanks to that wonderful discovery, we managed to get faster progression. And of course, thanks also to the shortcut you can unlock too!

Unlocking Buildings & Grinding
After we spent a few days searching the Town, and getting used to it. We started to unlock new buildings for the Farm.
  • Well
  • Bell (warns you a few minutes early when the Raid is coming)
  • Clock tower
  • Barn (Really cool and handy for your income)

The biggest highlight was the Barn. When we found out about it, it really boosted our income and gave us a new building to play with!

The animals are really cool. You can get 4 Chickens and 2 Cows at the moment. You can take care of them, feed them and they'll produce Milk and Eggs, which you can sell!

Reaching our first Milestone [Extraction]
After all, we just focused on grinding honestly. We got hooked on the daily activities, and got organized on what we had to do to "finish" the map.

We looked in to the garage, with all the parts for the Vehicle which was the extraction, therefore the end of the map. You need 27,500$ to get all the parts.

So we just basically did:
  • Plant & Harvest Crops
  • Take care of the Barn
  • Repeat

Our first run Completed!
After all the grind, we managed to get all the money for the Vehicle. So we did a last "tour" of the map, seeing all the progress we had made and how the Farm looked.

We grabbed our things and headed back to the garage, we bought all the parts and off we go!

2nd Play-through (5 hours)
Back at it again!
After our first play-trough, we got INSTANTLY hooked to the map, so of course the next thing we did was get back to the farm!

This time around we had a better knowledge of what to do, when to do it, and where to go.

Also, we were lucky and more people joined us, so this time around we were 7 players!

Let the farming begin
Once we started the day, we went straight to the farm land and cleared it pretty quickly (The first debris at least).

Then we managed to plant all the seeds in one go, and decided to more thoroughly explore the other areas. We finally found what we could do in the springs, which was another pleasant surprise, we can do some "fishing"!

Fishing and Mushrooms
Once we saw that we could sell fish, we started to look for a place to catch them. Of course the obvious place to look, was the river.

We didn't have to wait long before finding them! We thought at first that we might need something to fish them out, but the answer was pretty straight forward.

You literally get them by HAND. Snatching them out of the river, and giving it to the Seal Chef, at the spring. After fishing for a while, we found out about the Mushrooms. Since they were pretty close to the spring, we thought "Hey why not give the mushy to the seal", and it worked. You get different rewards, depending on the type of fish and mushy, giving you a nice boost in your income if you do it daily.

All about the $$$
We started to get a nice snowball progression, after the fishing session and harvesting our first batch of crops. We bought lots and I mean LOTS of seeds, and started our biggest batch yet!

Thanks to having more players this time around, we did everything sooo much faster than we expected.

We unlocked everything pretty much right away. We had the Barn fully upgraded, animals and all!

We had players on harvesting duty, others planting and watering, some of them were fishing or gathering mushrooms and others taking care of the barn. You could see a mini civilization right there, all working like an engine. It was a really nice feeling honestly, and everyone seems to be in to it!

The discovery of DA W33D
In our first Play-through we saw at the "Feed & Seed" shop, you could get weed seeds. But for some reason, we couldn't find it at the farm, so we didn't pay much attention to it.

This time around though, we got them! After testing if it worked or not, we had our first seed at the farm.

Since we had previously unlocked all the buildings, it didn't take us long to figure out where it needed to be planted.

And so it begins! Another great addition to our beloved farm!

Getting our first Turrets
With all the money we were earning, the next thing to try out was the Turrets.

During Blood Moons / Raid days, we couldn't do anything around the farm without being interrupted by the zeds, so we decided to invest in some defenses for the Farm. We choose our turret and started to dump a bunch of upgrades into it.

Once we were satisfied, we took our new puppy to the farm and put it to the test in the upcoming Raid.

The turret did its primary function of course, shooting at the zeds, but it wasn't like we thought. (More on this topic later on)

Second Milestone achieved
With a prosperous farm and lots of cash on-hand, we wasted no time buying something that piqued our interest earlier, the Hovercraft.

Once we acquired our new magnificent Hovercraft, we hopped in and drove it around! It gave us a few laughs and we had some really funny moments with. (More on this topic later on)

The purchase wiped us out financially, but we had a good time, and enjoyed it for a while before getting back to the grind.

Fastest Extraction (so far)
Thanks to having more players around, we managed to get enough money and more for the extraction.

We farmed like crazy and had constant income daily, so we were getting money super fast.

We messed around a little bit with some of the props and pets you could get around town, got all the furniture for the house, and overall just fooled around xD.

Our second run Completed!
Once we were happy with what we did at the farm, once again we got the vehicle parts and we completed the map, for the 2nd time!
3rd Play-through (7 hours)
Round 3 .... FARM!
Boy do we know the land now! We know the ins and outs of the farm, and had the best idea so far on how to get the ball rolling.

Without wasting any second, we rushed to get our much needed coffee at the town, then we cleared most of the debris, and had our crops ready to go on the FIRST day!.

Pretty similar start as our previous runs, but this time around, we were so efficient, that we had more time for other activities.

Strategy, Strategy, Strategy!
Max found the best loop for our daily activities. He was the first one to discover the Quest board at the Pharmacy, and did lots of "testing" to figure out which quests were the best to do.

Also I managed to figure out how to speed up the crops and skip some of the days it needed to grow, thanks to the "Face" tree in the town.

For 100$ you can advance the growth of all your crops by 1 day, so you can time it and have crops ready in the same day!

Thanks to that we formed a really nice daily routine, to get out of the early stage as fast as possible.

Getting ready for our next challenge!
Having nailed down our income situation, and getting new knowledge and experience on the map, we thought about what goals we would set for ourselves next.

From time to time in our previous runs, we had seen the Trophy at the 7/11 store, and its HIGH price made us look away immediately.

But not this time... We were determined to get that Trophy!

Let the farming be- Wait, this is Familiar....
Yup, that's right. Farming AGAIN. This time with bigger goal in mind, and having a better understanding of the map, we got down to business right away.

Thanks to our preparations, we had a faster way to generate income. You'll be surprised what you can do in 5 min!

Max was in charge of the Barn, taking care of the Weed and our latest dicovery, the quests. He got down the best route for each daily run.

In the mean time, I was in charge of the crops, fishing and collecting the mushroom around the place.

With our jobs in place, we had our routines all set!

Ladies and Gentlemen. We got it. Our 3th Milestone Achieved
After hours, and hours of grinding. Slowly but surely, we got the sum of 100.140$. We managed to get it at the Day 94.

This was our biggest Milestone so far in the map, and we were so excited (And tired AF, won't lie to you)

But let me tell you, this wasn't about the Trophy it self, it was more about the journey Max and I had in this map. We had such a good time and so much fun overall, that we decided to do it like it an "Achievement"

Here is our "Victory Picture"

After accomplishing that "beast" of a milestone. We decided to call it for that round, logging off for the night knowing we had a Trophy to our name!
Suggestions & Things we noticed [01/02]
Ohhhh boy, that was one hell of a journey let me tell you.

It was an incredible experience most definitely. Who would've thought that in a game all about zombies and whatnot, you could have fun taking care of a Farm?

This was really unexpected, but so damn fun.

Now, lets get in to the "specifics" of the map. We picked up a few things during our Play-throughs, and also came up with some "ideas" for the creators of the map.

All of the "critiques" and "Feedback" are in good spirit and meant as constructive criticism, for the betterment of the map and the team behind it!

Crops
The farming mechanics are really nice. You need a little bit of time to get used to how to plant, water and harvest, but it's nothing too hindering... Unless you do it in really big batches.

It gets too tedious after a while to move the seeds, plant and water them. Of course, with more players it's super easy and fast as you saw in our 2nd Play-through.

Keep in mind, that most of the time we were only 2 players, with a few exceptions when people joined of course, but the majority of the time it was only Max and I.

So far it seems like there's no "point", in getting all the crops available. We got much better yield & profit from tomatoes and weed, than anything else. If you want to know how much each crops yield and how much it can profit, here is the details:

Crop
Yield
Worth
Banana
1
20$
Melon
1
20$
Tomatoes
8
80$
Oranges
6
60$
Pumpkin
1
30$

Although Weed gives you the highest profit of all crops, the "downside" is that it takes too long to grow and harvest. It is nice to have around, and harvest when ready since it'll give you a nice boost.

We have to test out more in-depth about the crops. Like for example what crops is the fastest/slower in grow terms, and if it gives you better result daily. We'll update the table when we get the results.

On the other hand, we have the Seed Teleport upgrade, which is really handy, but it's kinda "wonky" to use. Of course, it greatly speeds up the process of moving seeds to the farmland, but its still tedious to move the seed in to the teleport, then go to the farm and plant them.

Suggestions
  • It would be nice to have some sort of upgrades for the seeds / crops. For example, being able to purchase a special item of some sort, that allows you to plant in an area (2x2 or something like that) or 3 crops in a straight line. It can have some sort of tier, getting better and better with each purchase. Same goes for the Watering Can.
  • The Seed Teleport is really handy to use. It would be better if it had tiered upgrades to improve it even more. For example in each level, you get a better function to it, at level 3 it adds a button near all the seed types that allows you to teleport them all in one go and so on.

Raids / Blood Moon

The staple of any NMS. As you saw in our first Play-through, we thought at first that zeds only spawn outside the farm, like in the path to the town and whatnot, but surprise, surprise, we got raided in day 7!

Those Raids or "Blood Moon" days, are good but they are really hard, specially in early days, since you don't have any melee to defend yourself.

The things is, you don't have any reason to defend the farm or kill the zombies. Most of the time we just skipped those waves and stayed at the springs until they were gone. We found it more like a hindrance than anything else, since we couldn't do anything around the farm without being harassed by the zeds.

Suggestions
Maybe if during the raids, you could get (% for each kill or some unique zeds to appear like the doggos from the quest) some sort of special seeds for your farm or even special ingredient for something, like upgrades or to even sell, that would be a good reason to actually stay and try to kill as many zeds as you can. Or could make each kill, give you 1$ in general too.

Side note: In my case, it tanks my fps to a point I can't stay in the farm when that happens (Yeah I got a potato PC :( )

Barn
The Barn was a pleasant surprise when we bought it. It gives you a really nice boost to your income and the animals are really cool. Not much else to say about it tbh. It is really good.

Suggestions
One thing that could be improved, is the Animal Feed mechanic, because it's kind of a hassle to buy the Animal Feed at the store or harvest it in the farm.

It has some delay between each purchase and it takes a while to wait for them to grow. Also, the faucet where you get the Animal Feed could be a little higher, since you can miss-click it when you're trying to pick up the Animal Feed and get another one instead.

Also it would be really nice, if you could put all the barn produce in the basket, allowing you to save time going back and forward to the trunk when selling. Or maybe you can buy an upgrade for the barn that allows you to get a trunk near the barn entrance.

Town
This was a relief when we finally made it!

All the possibilities, upgrades and farming needs. And of course COFFEE.

Not much else to say about the Town honestly. It is really pretty and you can get what you need fairly quickly. Once you know the layout of the Town, you'll be zooming all over the place.

Dunno if it was intended, but at the Gun-store when you buy one of the guns available, it doesn't respawn. Also the Ammo-shelf sometimes doesn't let you buy them and some of them are kinda high and you can't access them easily.

Oh and I had a little "accident" with the Bulletproof Vest. When I went to get one, it flew out and managed to kill me hahaha.

Suggestions
A good addition to the Town, could be a Restaurant and a Secret Lab. In the restaurant you can buy food that gives you different bonuses to your characters and in the Secret Lab you can get all crazy "experiments" for your farm, and crazy upgrades too!.
Suggestions & Things we noticed [02/02]
Gameplay mechanics
ZE COFFEE IS LIFE. You can't play without that Super Strong Coffee from the 7/11. It is so damn good. When we found it, we became INSTANTLY addicted to it hahahaha.

On that note, we found an interesting mechanic (Dunno if it was intended to work that way or not), if you get the 5$ Super Strong Coffee, and rest at the spring during night time, you won't lose the Coffee effect! So all you have to do is a single purchase and you'll become Sonic 4EVAH, until you die xD

Since we're still on the Coffee topic, the Coffee Machines at the 7/11 have no real "use" because of what I have previously mentioned. I mean, we bought it at first, since we thought it was better than the 7/11 vending machine, but when we tried it, the Coffee effect is actually slower!

A nice change to them, would be, the Coffee at 7/11 vending machine should give you 1.5x speed and the rest of the Coffee Makers when you get them should give you more Speed and so on. And an even better addition to it, would be to make your OWN Coffee.

Plant it, harvest it and brew it in the Coffee Maker, giving you an HELL of a boost and the option to sell it for that $$$.

Side note: Dunno why, but in my case the 7/11 store is really bright! Like super bright for some reason hahaha.

Spring
But enough about Coffee, let's talk about the spring.

It seems you can use the Teleport at the spring to actually bring items to your farm, but not the other way around.

Other than that, really good place in early days to get extra income from fish and mushy.

Day / Night
The Day / Night mechanic is cool, but it is way too short in our opinion. It lasts around 5 minutes and we have no time for anything after the daily tasks (taking care of barn, farm/weed, daily quests).

There are so many cool decorations to buy for the house, but no time to actually relax or enjoy your decorated house. By the time we're done our routine, the day is over and it all restarts again.

Of course we could just "skip" a day and do other stuff like decorating, but then we would lose the possible income of the day :(

The day length should be doubled or even tripled, but allow the player to skip to the next day early by sleeping (clicking on the bed).

Now there would be enough time to just chill and mess around with friends after the day's work, without feeling like you're wasting time and money. However, people are not forced to wait in the early-game for the crops to grow, they can simply skip the rest of the day after planting.

Turrets
Turrets seem to not be worth the money. We invest around 8 / 9k into one, and it didn't 1-shot zeds. We tried all the ammo types, and lots of the upgrades to make it better, but it didn't seem to matter that much. It was really inaccurate and just sprayed bullets, missing most of the time xD

One thing though, Turrets are really handy for spawn-camping the areas where the quest Enemies spawn. Of course the same problem persists, BUT, it help to clear them out, and if you're lucky enough, and have a lot of upgrades / levels on the turret, they can manage to kill them all!

BIG investment to, at best, kill the undead soldiers for you for 300$ per day.

Furniture & Pets
The furniture is really nice, and it's pretty cool to see the progression of the house. Seeing new stuff all over the place, more pets (BIG CHONKY LOAF and our buddy the Capibara) and few props to play around. Really neat.

Side note: BTW that sound box IS AMAZING, the best 25$ we ever spent in the whole play-through, If it was like a sound board like, when you can choose what sound to play it would be 100% better.

Still, really amazing to have around xD

Big Bummers :(
As you saw in our Play-throughs, we managed to accomplish some of the "Milestones" in the map.

Most of them were big bummers though, one of them being the Hovercraft. We were so excited to get it, since it cost 25k, and when we finally got it, it was very "basic". Sure it gives you a few laughs and you can mess around with it, but that's it. It didn't have much use.

Also, the latest one we got, the Trophy. 100K$ and we didn't even get confetti at least hahaha

There's no "point" in getting those, since it won't do any difference. Well it will hurt your balance, that's for sure xD

Final Notes
"Wtf is this and why am I addicted to it?" -Maxpowerammo

Congratulations! You reached the end of our journey. Thanks for sticking around and reading our experience in the map.

Overall, this is a really well made map, extremely fun and addictive. Like I previously said, it was unexpected to see this type of mode in a game like NMRiH.

Of course, this map has BIG potential to be expanded on and improved with lots and lots of stuff.

Add more upgrades to the farm, crops, shops in the town, new areas to explore, and so on.

If you want some sort of "Tutorial / Guide" for the map, I'll suggest checking this one made by Qwazzy:

https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3112457011

Congratulations to all you guys: Porkchops4lunch , durkhaz , Merzarime and Dysphie . BIG THANK YOU for creating this incredible map! All that time and effort really paid off!

Looking forward for more news & updates!

Thank you guys ! I'm really glad that you liked it.

I also appreciate your thoughts and points Qwazzy:

[*]Hovercraft: Oh I didn't know that!

[*]Seed Teleporter: Yup, agreed with that.

[*]Animal Seed: Good idea, buying them in batches of 5.

[*]Ammo: Oh so that's why! Interesting

[*]Time of Day: Yeah, true. Max and I were talking about the possibilities of "griefing" or like you said, pressuring other players. It is true you can make lots of stuff in 5min, but only you have more than 2 players

[*]Turrets: Yes! We discovered that by accident, with Maxwell hahaha. We might have to test them out more!

This is extremely helpful and I completely agree with most of your suggestions and criticisms. I'll be taking everything here and qn the comments into account when I get around to pushing an update. Thank you so much guys for playing. You make it worth the effort :lunar2019piginablanket:

(1/4) An entertaining read, we figured some things out the same way and others differently, it was fun to compare them.

I do have a few thoughts on a couple things you bring up.

Hovercraft: It's more of an easter egg kind of thing I believe, because that hovercraft is also on other older maps of porkchops4lunch and usually hidden behind a very well hidden or convoluted trigger. It's more of a goofy thing to seek out rather than a real upgrade or benefit, it's just that here it costs a ton of money instead of being hidden. That does sort of give the player the wrong idea if they decide to save up for it without knowing what it is, though.
Qwazzy 13 Dec, 2023 @ 7:13pm
(2/4) Seed Teleporter: the biggest issue with it is how seeds keep their momentum when teleported. So if you push a seed in while running at mach-4 coffee, they shoot out like a cannon and it's not very convenient. If they stay relative to the destination pad, it's much better as long as you place the pad in a good spot. And very useful for moving weed seeds to the shed.

Blood Moon: Pretty much agreed on all counts. If anything, the only reward is a break from the farming grind to kill lots of zombies. But it can be overwhelming, and less fun if your PC can't handle all those zeds. And while I like the red screen effect, it can be a bit strong and headache-inducing, hehe. I think it would be more fun if the zombies spawned by it did reward money per kill, so there would be less incentive to just run away and wait.
Qwazzy 13 Dec, 2023 @ 7:13pm
(3/4) Animal Feed: Definitely wish they could be bought as easily as seeds, or a bulk x5 option maybe. And yeah, the spigot placement is wonky, though I did learn to get around it pretty fast using a left angle.

Ammo: The map doesn't tell you this, but you can only buy 20 boxes of ammo a day. That might be why you couldn't buy some at random points.
Qwazzy 13 Dec, 2023 @ 7:13pm
(4/4) Time of day: I'm split on this one. I do agree 5 minutes can feel short, but that's part of the experience, dealing with the loop and being efficient around it. If I were to extend it, I wouldn't go above 7 minutes personally. 10 would feel too long. As for ending it early, I don't like that idea with random players as they'd be constantly pressuring other players to come back home and end the day. It's better when everyone has free will to go wherever they want, and have the end of day simply enforced by a routine killswitch.

Turrets: If you haven't tried yet, try putting some... unusual items in them. Like a cat, maybe. Not only do they give free ammo, but their ammo regenerates when they're outside the turret. And generally more effective than the stock ammo you can buy anyway.

... anyway. Sorry to spam your comment section, just thought you'd find my thoughts interesting in comparison to your own experiences.

This is beautiful.
