And actually, The Warden is indeed a Dalish female that didn't go through with Morrigan's ritual and Alistair is king. This is comfirmed to be the Bioware default canon by David Gaider.
A fair amount of people bitch about this but I don't know why. You still get to make your own Warden and Hawke and create your own story despite the official canon. BioWare goes to great lengths to respect this and people still bitch about official canon that in no way impedes upon their own history.
And honestly, the official canon really is mainly for the books and comics, seeing as we can alter it greatly in the games.
