OK, So you've got a 3090 or a 4090 Nvidia RTX GPU and you think, "Gosh, I should be able to run Ark at 200+ frames at max quality." WRONG! Ark has always been a lighting and shadow mess. It's always been a helluva time trying to balance light/shadows due to uncontrollable direct light coming from who knows where, to hard contrast shadows that don't seem to make sense. Then they added Fog, Volumetric clouds, grass, and higher resolution textures to do it's best to fry your GPU. No optimization has been applied, it's the same old buggy Ark with more dependency on your GPU. So crank that max frame limit down son. This is the first step. If you don't want crashes or weird performance issues, accept the fact that you are going to have to play this game at 30 FPS. I know I know, "but Monst3r, there are a bunch of other guides out there that show you how to get more frames." Yeah, at an extreme cost to visual quality. This is fine for PVP, but we don't care what toxic people want. Let me show you how I've offset this challenge in PVE and created a game that's pleasing to look at, and after half an hour you aren't even going to notice that the frames are at 30 and that your GPU isn't breathing heavy like a fat kid eating cake.

Let's start with the RTX tab since most of you mess this up. If you have a 30 series, you don't have frame generation. Cry yourself to sleep. If you have a 40 series, it doesn't matter, I told you that you're playing this game at 30 frames so leave it off dum dum. Keep DLSS and Low Latency Options on. These are the only two options you should have activated on this tab. Main graphics tab now.
First... for the love of God, turn off Motion blur immediately. Why devs keep adding this option as active by default? Couldn't tell you, but it's annoying af and it makes most people feel dizzy/sick. Moving on and sticking to the right column, Light shafts and Light bloom off. In fact everything off on this right side. Useless junk even for PVE unless you're playing this 10 years from now with the latest GPU.
Left side of the page now. Fullscreen, Turn all quality for each option down to medium. Only keep Textures, Post Processing, and Effects Quality on High.

Moving on to console commands. r.VolumetricCloud 0 and grass.enable 0 are your best friends. You will see clear skies ALL of the time, and no more grass hiding those small angry dinos and eating up your GPU vram. There, done! You're Welcome! Vote for my guide, you beach Bob.
