The Noodle Man
Scouts are one of the few enemies that do not sleep, but actively patrol their territory and regularly extend their "feelers" to detect threats. If a player comes into contact with its feelers, the scout emits a loud scream that wakes up all nearby enemies and causes more enemies to spawn nearby.

Strategies
Once alerted, the Scout must be killed immediately in order to prevent it's scream.

Stealth Kill
  • A fully charged melee hit to the head with a sledgehammer or spear kills a scout stealthily. The bat and the knife are also capable of killing a scout stealthily, but the attack must hit the scout in the back of the head
You can also use C-foam to make this task easier and less risky, giving you an extra few seconds for the kill.

Normal Kill
  • Scouts can be killed by several shots in rapid succession to the back of the head before they have time to scream. This method is only recommended as a last resort.
  • With high-damage weapons such as the Köning PR 11 Sniper, Omneco LRG HEL Rifle, Shelling Arid 5 High Caliber Pistol, Drekker Del P1 Precision Rifle, or the Buckland S870 Shotgun you can eliminate a Scout with a single headshot. (But be aware of damage fall of)

Variants
Shadow scouts
These scouts should be handled identically as they behave precisely like normal ones. But you can't see them as clear as regular scouts.
Setting the shadow quality to the maximum will let you see them more clearly.

Charger scouts
The Charger Scout variant has an armored head and patrols at a higher speed than the normal Scout, making it more difficult to kill silently. The strategy remain the same as when killing a regular scout. You have to kill him in a quick amount of time so he doesn't become invulnerable and call the horde.

  • If u want to solo melee a Charger scout use a IIX Syringe or C-Foam Grenade
If triggered
When the Scout is triggered, he will spawn a wave of enemies (Approx. 12).
  • There is a brief half-second window after a Scout has touched a player with a tendril where it can still be killed before it screams, this is indicated by the 'whipping' sound of a Scout quickly retracting its tendrils.
  • You can't stop the scout during screaming. It is immune to all attacks for a short period during and after screaming. Do not waste resources until after the scream.
