Overview
Estimated difficulty: 4/10. (Skill and a bit of luck dependent).

Estimated 100% time: ~8-12+ hours.

Offline/online achievements: 11 offline / 0 online.

Number of playthroughs: 2 minimum. You need to complete the game once on normal or hard to unlock Nightmare difficulty, as well as be able to buy the items needed for the last 3 notes to spawn (refer to the UFO and Mayuhime endings).

Glitched achievements: 0.

Missable Achievements: All of them, technically.
Misc.
These achievements are listed in the order you can earn them as you play through the game.

Mary's Phone Call Game over for Mary.
While travelling through Ichinose on your way to Kinu's house, you can spot a pink flyer on the side of a building near the graveyard. This flyer has a number you will need to call to start this achievement. It's worth mentioning that the number to dial only appears after you beat the game for the first time. I'm not sure if this achievement can be completed on your first run.

- As soon as you arrive at Kinu's house, go inside and open the sliding door to your immediate right. In front of you will be a phone. Dial the number 9679 and you'll receive some dialogue.
- Now just wait in front of the phone. Don't move or leave the area and eventually Mary will call back. She will do this a total of 5 times.
- On the 5th call, Mary will tell you she's at the entrance. Open the front door and step outside. Your character will make a comment and the phone will ring once more. Answer it and let the scene play out.

Chicken Strikes Back Game over for the chickens.
Once you reach Kinu's house, you can make your way to the backyard where you'll spot 3 chickens walking around. If you sprint into them, you'll end up kicking them. You simply need to commit casual animal abuse until all 3 are dead.

You're my mom Use chick.
In Kinu's backyard is a hen house you can go inside. On the floor is an Egg. If you use it now, it will permanently increase your defense slightly, but we're not going to do that. Instead, hold it in your inventory until it spontaneously hatches. For me, this happened shortly after entering Miyama Mansion on my 2nd playthrough. It's worth noting that I carried the egg all the way to the end of the game on my first playthrough and it didn't hatch. I don't know if it's just RNG, or if it can't hatch on your first run. Once it hatches, go into your inventory and use the chick.

Dirty right hand Put your hand in both toilets.
Late into the Miyama Mansion area, you will need to fish a key item out of a room labelled "Toilet" to the top-left of the map. After you've done so, return to another room labelled "Toilet" to the top-right of the map and stick your hand in there as well.

Game Master Complete the 10 yen game 50 times.
Scattered throughout the game are 10 Yen Coins you can collect to play various machines throughout the game. Winning in these machines will reward you with Winning Tickets you can exchange for points after beating the game for the first time. I recommend winning a handful of times to get your hands on a few of these tickets to buy new key items (50 points to buy all 3), but don't worry about going for this achievement until your 2nd playthrough. I'm not even sure if it's possible on your 1st, as you need to WIN 50 times. Wins carry between playthroughs.

After you complete the game for the first time, you will unlock a Shop on the main menu where you can exchange Winning Tickets from beating the coin games for points to buy new items and cosmetics. One of these items is an Infinite Coin that costs 20 points. After you've purchased it, start a New Game and add the coin to your starting items. Now you can freely play the games over and over. If you're really good at the UFO or car games, you can play those, but I highly recommend using the machine in Kinu's backyard and just spamming it over and over. I had the most luck by going full power, holding the lever for 1-2 seconds, then releasing.
Story Related
Human See the "Human" ending.
You will receive this ending for killing Ayano at the end of the game. If you'd like to get both this and the Xenomorph ending in one playthrough, save before reading the final diary in the underground cage. After seeing one ending, load the save and choose the opposite option.

Descendant of a xenomorph See the "Descendant of a xenomorph" ending.
You will receive this ending for sparing Ayano at the end of the game. If you'd like to get both this and the Human ending in one playthrough, save before reading the final diary in the underground cage. After seeing one ending, load the save and choose the opposite option.

UFO See the "UFO" ending.
- After completing the game at least once, you will unlock the Shop where you can exchange Winning Tickets for points to buy new key items. For this ending, you will first need to purchase the Tinfoil Hat for 10 pts.
- Start a new game you'll be given the option to start with 3 items. One of these is the hat. Make sure you have it!
- You don't need to interact with any of the UFO files, or trigger the UFO at all.
- Simply make your way to Miyama Mansion - Outhouse and head to the Detached Tatami Room. Enter the hiding closet here and you'll notice a strange symbol. Interact with it to go to a new area.
- Walk out into the center of the field and interact with the UFO icon.

Click here for a screenshot on where the ending is.

Mayuhime See the "Mayuhime" ending.
- After completing the game at least once, you will unlock the Shop where you can exchange Winning Tickets for points to buy new key items. For this ending, you will first need to purchase the Butterfly Key for for 10 pts.
- Start a new game you'll be given the option to start with 3 items. One of these is the key. Make sure you have it!
- Proceed through the game until you reach Miyama Mansion and head up to the 2nd floor. Go past the Silkworm Room (the room with the boarded up hole in the floor) and you'll spot a locked red door on your right. Use the Butterfly Key to open it.
- Grab the Cocoon (red glowing ball) on the altar.
- Finally, complete the final boss fight and a new option will appear. Feed her the Cocoon.

Holometabolism Complete the game on "NIGHTMARE" dificulty.
https://youtu.be/DaebRN_O9bM
If people want to see my full Nightmare run, I'll edit that and post that here as well.

Nightmare is the hardest difficulty in the game, and only unlocks after you've beaten it at least once on normal or hard. Nightmare modes features are:
  • You die in one hit. Eating the egg doesn't change this fact.
  • Very limited sprint, even when not being detected by an enemy.
  • Ayano will spawn very often, patrol longer, and has very good hearing.
  • No healing items. You die in one hit, anyways.
  • ~2 save points have the protective ward.
  • The anchors during the final boss require 2 slams each. 6 slams total.

Thankfully, save points still exist and the game checkpoints every time you pick up a key item, making progress through the main game fairly smooth. The hardest sections by far were Kinu's house, since it's a very small area to work with, and the final boss fight. I died to her about 10-15 times simply because the game either decided it was time to die, or because I couldn't outpace her. Once I got a rhythm going, though, it wasn't too bad.
Doing the UFO ending will NOT unlock the Nightmare achievement.

Tips & Tricks
  • Since there's no healing items and notes are pretty much useless (outside of a few key ones that trigger objectives) you can pretty much just go from objective to objective, speeding the game up quite a bit.
  • Close doors behind you. Creating paths and line of sight blockers is really helpful when trying to move around, especially when being chased. Ayano is incredibly fast and closing a door could give you that extra second to get into cover.
  • Move behind Ayano. Her path changes depending on the objective you're on. It's much easier to follow her path rather than to try and weave through it or go against it.
  • If you can hear her, she can hear you. I got caught walking, opening doors, and even crouch walking once. Stealth is extremely important and you'll likely only turn your flashlight on for a few seconds at a time to see where you're going.
  • The final boss fight is pretty evenly split between skill, luck, and stamina management. You need to be constantly moving around the arena, and can't be afraid to try and squeeze by her safely. If she's not doing the jump attack, you need to be constantly sprinting to keep ahead of her or she will kill you. After every 3-4 attacks, I would get near one of the anchors to prepare for her jump.
Collectibles I
Collector Get all files.
There are 42 files to collect throughout the game. 3 can only be found after completing the game for the first time. Doing so will unlock a Shop on the main menu where you can buy new key items tied to the UFO and Mayuhime endings and the final 3 notes. It's worth mentioning that the achievement unlocked for me before I picked up all 42 notes on my 2nd playthrough. I think the game keeps track of which notes you've grabbed in previous runs. I've also included any 10 Yen Coins I found, but refer to the Misc. section for more info on that achievement.

Also @NekoCat I'm so sorry, I somehow missed your comment. I'll update the guide later today with that info. Thank you!

@JennyKli, I'm a little confused by this request, considering you've already made a review for that game, yourself.

If you'd like, you can private message me and we can discuss somewhere that isn't the comments for this guide. :)

Have you played Taken Soul ? Could you give me a review of this game? https://store.steampowered.com/app/2633540

It might be a case of me not labeling them by their in-game number, but I can't 100% remember. I usually order my collectible guides in order of how you would find them with the least amount of backtracking / going out of your way for ease.
Eshbaal 6 Apr, 2024 @ 9:07am
Hope you read this. I am confused.

I have reached the Mansion Outhouse and found everybjourbal so far... But my journal list skips #32, which according to this guide is Dr. Shimamura's Journal.

But in my game it lists Kinu's Journal #1 as 31,and THE Doctors Journal as 33.

Is this just a weird glitch or something?

For the Achievement "Game Master"
Complete the 10 yen game 50 times.

Is is enough to get the profitless.
All you have to do is shake the machine until it breaks.
If you just keep shaking, you will automatically get the winning tickets at some point.

I hope it helps to get this faster :D
