Introduction

The primary purpose of this guide is to answer some questions most people are probably trying to figure out in regards to gems such as:

1) How rare is the drop rate of the gems can be?
2) How well does each gem perform?
3) Which gem should be slotted into a gun?
4) What is the effect of each gems?
---===Gems Rarity===---
Drop Rate

Please take note that the drop rate of gems varies from each individual and the chart merely represents the drop rate I experience. Other players might experience an even generally lower or higher drop rate of each corresponding gems.

From my personal experience, Sekhmet's Healing Gem has an insanely low drop rate even at extreme difficulty. I would recommend you not to waste this gem on secondary weapon.

Bennu's Sun Fire Gem is one of the few gems with a very high drop rate. For the beginner player, these gems are basically use & discard gems. Once you get your hand on better gems, you can almost immediately replace it.
---===Gems Performances===---
Montu's Brutal Gem

Montu's Brutal Gem boosts the damage of the weapon significantly. From the information I gather so far, the increment can go up to 25-33%. This allowed most shotguns to reach the breakpoints they needed to one-shot kill at easy-normal difficulty when playing alone.

Sources 2
Sekhmet's Healing Gem

Sekhmet's Healing Gem allowed players to recover health without the use of a healing potion. This is exceptionally useful at higher difficulty due to the rarity of the potion.

The healing rate of the gem depends on the type of enemy. From my experience, the more health and durable the enemy is, the more health you recover upon killing it.
Skull Breaker Gem

Skull Breaker Gem provides a staggering 40-67% more damage to the head, making it an ideally useful gem for rifles but a poor choice for shotguns and SMG.

Most rifles slotted with Skull Breaker Gem can easily shred a portion of the boss's health in a matter of seconds, even more so when playing alone since the health multiplier depends on the number of players available.
Bennu's Sun Fire Gem

This is what I call beginner gems, it is very common to acquire and it have a very low trigger rate (10%) even if you use it with a shotgun. The damage inflicted by Bennu's Sun Fire Gem is so low that it could barely finish off its opponent even at easy difficulty.

It is highly recommended to have it replaced when you get a better gem at the later stage of the game.
Anubis's Gem of Armourbane

This provides penetration power that your gun possibly lacks. With the penetration power it provided, it allowed you to either take down multiple targets at once or remove pieces of enemy protection in order to finish them off.
Neith's Stabilising Gem

Weapons with high recoils such as Colbeck Wildfire can be very irritating to be use and leave you almost no reason to go for it. Used it with Neith's Stabilising Gem and the recoile would be tone down to reasonable level.

But that doesn't mean low recoils weapon doesn't benefit from it, it remove recoils to the point of non-existent and made the gun more entertaining to be used.
Bast's Rebound Gem

To be frankly honest, this is probably the most useless gem in the game itself. The bounces are totally random and aren't guaranteed to hit a target, making this gem almost have no values to be used at all.

If you are new and in need of cash to purchase a weapon, you are better off selling this gem to gather cash much quicker.
Quibe's Ice Gale Gem

Quibe's Ice Gale Gem is a beginner gem that works better than Bennu's Sun Fire Gem. Although both have the same trigger rate (10%), frozen enemies would receive extra damage upon being shot; allowing the player to finish off most of them during the freezing state.

However, because it unfreezes as soon it is hit. It became too specific to be overall a good gem. In my opinion, this gem is basically average at most.
Quickfire Gem

Several guns in Strange Brigade either have a poor reload speed or a rate of fire that is slightly slow/fast, placing the respective gun in a rather awkward position.

Quickfire Gem spontaneously reduces the reload speed while increasing the rate of fire, making the gun more comfortable to use on engagement. At 20-30% speed differences, there is almost no reason to reject the use of this gem.
---===Gems Recommendation===---
-=Primary Weapon=-
Chamberlain Automatic Rifle

Total Gem Slot: 1
Difficulty Recommendation

Easy- Normal

Normal
or
Hard

Extreme

Chamberlain Automatic Rifle recoil can be reduced to almost nothing with Neith's Stabilising Gem, making this gem an ideal choice at easy difficulty for fun.

At normal-hard difficulty, the rifle rof isn't slow enough to gather health via Sekhmet's Healing Gem but is nowhere close enough for extreme difficulty. At extreme difficulty where a single hit can take out a chunk of health, you are better off increasing the damage of the rifle with Montu's Brutal Gem.
Kingsley Special Repeater

Total Gem Slot: 1
Difficulty Recommendation

Easy

Kingsley Special Repeater shares plenty of similarities with the Chamberlain Automatic Rifle, hence the gem recommendation is the same. Nothing further to explain about it.
Leamington Model 14

Total Gem Slot: 1
Difficulty Recommendation

Easy

Normal
or
Hard
or
Extreme

One thing the Leamington Model 14 a seriously lacking is the gem slot. Considering it only has a single slot for one gem, Montu's Brutal Gem is the most viable choice at normal-hard difficulty since it allows the shotgun to reach the necessary breakpoints to kill everything.

But if a one-hit kill isn't your primary focus and you prefer to have a healing option without relying on a potion, Sekhmet's Healing Gem can be used for this difficulty.

As for easy difficulty, most units have very low health to the point that Montu's Brutal Gem is nothing but redundant; you might as well just use Anubis's Gem of Armourbane to kill a cluster of enemies all packed tight together.

While Montu's Brutal Gem works decently at extreme difficulty for Leamington Model 14, this shotgun's horrendous reload speed made it a no-go option. Quickfire Gem increased the reload speed tremendously to the point that multiple succession of shots from the result of having faster reload null all the merit the gem has to offer.
Westminster 1895

Total Gem Slot: 1
Difficulty Recommendation

Easy

Normal
or or
Hard
or or
Extreme

Westminster 1895 is a very fun gun to be used at easy-normal difficulty after you remove the recoil entirely with Neith's Stabilising Gem. On the other hand, because the gun itself has ample damage and rof to decimate the opponent in rather quick succession, Sekhmet's Healing Gem can be used at normal-hard difficulty as a potion replacer.

For normal-hard difficulty, Montu's Brutal Gem can be the choice of gem for those who can't be bothered with their aim. With the extra damage, it can guarantee many types of enemies can be killed without the need to secure a headshot.

However, at extreme difficulty enemy health can be exceptionally high. You are better off going for the head.
Thompkins M1

Total Gem Slot: 2
Difficulty Recommendation

All Difficulty

Easy

Normal
or or or
Hard

Extreme

Thompkins M1 recoil is above average and hence it should be reduced with the use of Neith's Stabilising Gem. Due to the gun damage being rather low, Montu's Brutal Gem can be used to increase its damage to an acceptable level as some might find the damage it dishes out was too low for their standard.

At normal difficulty, multiple choice of gem can be used along with Neith's Stabilising Gem to yield different results. For example, combining it with Anubis's Gem of Armourbane would allow you to hit multiple enemies that are cluster pack in narrow space.

For extreme difficulty, this gun performances was a bit of a dissappoint for me. Montu's Brutal Gem just simply doesn't add up enough damage for it to work well while Sekhmet's Healing Gem heal speed just couldn't keep up with the damage you received. In this circumstances, you are better off improving it's rof and reload speed. I got to warn you though, you would consume your ammo extremely fast when you are using Quickfire Gem with this weapon.
Eastleigh Express

Total Gem Slot: 2
Difficulty Recommendation

All Difficulty

Easy
or
Normal
or
Hard

Extreme

Eastleigh Express is the highest damage shotgun available in the game and thus placing a Montu's Brutal Gem is a must if you want the shotgun to one-hit kill regardless of what difficulty you are playing.

At easier difficulty such as easy or normal, it can be paired with gems such as Anubis's Gem of Armourbane to hit multiple targets or Sekhmet's Healing Gem for healing in large quantities due to multiple kills in a single shot.

However, the shotgun itself has terrible reload speed. At hard-extreme difficulty, you want to reload fast so you can clear the mob faster thus avoiding taking damage in the process.
Hyde & Sons .303 Huntsman

Total Gem Slot: 2
Difficulty Recommendation

All Difficulty

There is no doubt what gem should be inserted into the gem slot for this gun. Hyde & Sons .303 Huntsman has plenty of accuracy and damage to decimate the boss when paired up with Montu's Brutal Gem & Skull Breaker Gem.

When both gems increased the damage of the weapon to nearly double, there was almost no reason to even go for healing or piercing with other gems.

Neith's Stabilising Gem is worthless for this gun since the gun was reloaded per shot. By the time you reload, the recoil from the previous shot is gone while a gem such as Quickfire Gem would cause the recoil to spiral out of control from rapid firing.
Royce M33 Carbine

Total Gem Slot: 3
Difficulty Recommendation

All Difficulty

Easy

Normal
or or
Hard
or
Extreme

Royce M33 Carbine rof was slightly low while the recoil is rather high. To solve both issues, Neith's Stabilising Gem & Quickfire Gem are highly recommended no matter which difficulty you participate in.

Since it have 50 ammo capacity and steady rof with gem support, you can secure sufficient kill for health recovery with Sekhmet's Healing Gem even at extreme difficulty. If healing is the least concern, increasing its damage it's the way to go.
AB Woolf Slamfire

Total Gem Slot: 3
Difficulty Recommendation

All Difficulty

Easy
or
Normal
or or
Hard

Extreme

AB Woolf Slamfire has a very bad reload speed, to use it without Quickfire Gem is a death sentence itself since you only have a single bullet in a chamber at a time.

Hence, you cannot discard Quickfire Gem from your option if you plan to use this gun. The same applies to Montu's Brutal Gem to ensure there is sufficient damage for a one-hit kill.

On a positive note, unlike Leamington Model 14 which only has a single slot for gem and Eastleigh Express with two. This shotgun comes with three slots for gems thus giving the player a wider selection to go from.

At easy difficulty, you can go for Anubis's Gem of Armourbane to hit more targets or Quibe's Ice Gale Gem to freeze multiple targets. At normal-hard, Sekhmet's Healing Gem can be used as a potion replacer while at extreme difficulty, Neith's Stabilising Gem can be used to make a tighter cluster to pack more punch on a single target.
Lee Ensham Mk.III

Total Gem Slot: 3
Difficulty Recommendation

All Difficulty

There is nothing to explain regarding Lee Ensham Mk.III, it shares all similarities with Hyde & Sons .303 Huntsman and thus the recommendation is the same.

Of course, some argue and say the third gem would be better off with Quibe's Ice Gale Gem instead of Anubis's Gem of Armourbane cause you can freeze the boss. But remember, the success rate of freezing is just about 10% and if you plan to use this gun for your entire journey, you are not fighting the boss alone.

The piercing effect from Anubis's Gem of Armourbane simply let you hit multiple targets at once, without it you would only be taking care of a single mob at a time.
Audley Burst Rifle

Total Gem Slot: 4
Difficulty Recommendation

All Difficulty

If you want to replicate the effect of Audley Burst Rifle Fully Automatic which is purchasable from a chest for the price of 500-1000 gold, you cannot exclude Neith's Stabilising Gem & Quickfire Gem for this weapon.

At easy difficulty, Montu's Brutal Gem with Anubis's Gem of Armourbane allowed you to shred everything into nothingness, even the boss itself is not spared from your wraith. Since the damage you could take at this difficulty is almost negligible, there isn't any reason to go for Sekhmet's Healing Gem.

However, at normal-hard difficulty when you paired Sekhmet's Healing Gem with Anubis's Gem of Armourbane. The kill speed is fast enough for you to heal, you probably won't even need to use a potion at all for your entire journey thanks to it.

What about extreme difficulty? The gun recoil was narrowed down significantly thanks to the Neith's Stabilising Gem. If you pair Montu's Brutal Gem with Skull Breaker Gem, a single burst from Audley Burst Rifle has devastating consequences against the boss. Just hope your aim ain't as bad as mine.
Stoudenmire 960

Stoudenmire 960 is the finest piece of art when you use it with Neith's Stabilising Gem and Quickfire Gem. Exceptionally fast rof with nary an ounce of recoil with both gems, Stoudenmire 960 delivers a brutal & shocking effect to any enemies it lays hands upon it.

The speed alone makes Sekhmet's Healing Gem and Anubis's Gem of Armourbane nearly indispensable at hard-extreme difficulty since it can shred everything quickly while keeping the healing consistent.

At lower difficulty whereby healing is optional, combination of Montu's Brutal Gem & Anubis's Gem of Armourbane keeps everything dead.

This gun has outstanding performances and has been my primary choice for running this game at extreme difficulty alone. Yield the highest damage among the rifle, Gehrig-Delgane S1 with Neith's Stabilising Gem & Quickfire Gem is nothing to sneeze at.

When you use it along with Montu's Brutal Gem & Skull Breaker Gem, you can easily decimate a boss before it even initiates an attack.

Without Neith's Stabilising Gem, Colbeck Wildfire is a nightmare to use. Since the forte of this gun is his rof, excluding the Quickfire Gem isn't a brilliant move either; although some of you might disagree with my opinion.
Mikhailov-38

Balance in every aspect with the combination of Neith's Stabilising Gem & Quickfire Gem, I just don't see any reason to exclude Sekhmet's Healing Gem even at easy difficulty.

Mikhailov-38 is just very well balanced in performances when all these three gems are used all together. At extreme difficulties, Skull Breaker Gem is the recommended fourth gem to be used along with it. With great performances, it isn't that hard to secure a headshot with Mikhailov-38.
Audley A40 Exemplar

Audley A40 Exemplar might have average rof, but the recoil easily builds up over time during the shootout. Just like Mikhailov-38, it does no justice to exclude any of the three gems that are recommended across all difficulties.

However, at hard-extreme difficulty; you might prefer to go for Montu's Brutal Gem for more damage since the enemies could soak up more damage.
Eastleigh M1

If a rifle could have a steroid, Eastleigh M1 might be one of it. Not only it can keep the enemies at bay with consistency upon equipped it with Neith's Stabilising Gem & Quickfire Gem.

With Skull Breaker Gem, it can land headshot in rapid succession in a short period of time, allowing you to decimate a boss before it could even initiate an attack.
-=Secondary Weapon=-
Katzen Machine Pistol

If you just want to keep the enemy from closing in at you with quick firing using Katzen Machine Pistol, Quickfire Gem would be the best choices. If you want to secure more hit on target, Neith's Stabilising Gem is the way to go.

Do I even need to explain this one? I thought it was pretty clear when this revolver have the highest damage among all secondary weapon. What is better way to use it other than to secure headshot kill?
Wilkers & White P19

At easy difficulty, Wilkers & White P can easily hold enemies at bay when you pair up Neith's Stabilising Gem with Quickfire Gem. Hell, I would say it would not going to lose to some of the rifles available.

At normal difficulty, pairing Sekhmet's Healing Gem with Quickfire Gem lets you heal quickly via kill. But the same cannot be said about hard difficulty as some enemies can be tougher to deal with without the extra damage from Montu's Brutal Gem. For extreme difficulty, just stack up the damage and go for the head.

Marchador TT recoils become unbearable even with Neith's Stabilising Gem if you are planning to use Quickfire Gem with it. Hence, it is recommended to do so only at easy difficulty purely for entertainment.

At normal-hard difficulty, it ain't entirely bad to be able to heal with this pistol. Only do so if you have a spare Sekhmet's Healing Gem for your secondary weapon otherwise going for damage increment is a much wiser choice.

100 might not seems a lot, but the amount you accumulate overtime can easily allowed you to unlock at least 1 or 2 of your weapon arsenal early (Such as throwable).

I seen enough new player who decided to hog all the gold they accumulate while playing (Not spending gold on 500-1000 briefcase to unlock special weapon) in order to unlock weapon early.

Well... only to end up struggling against boss and fail the mission.

To hit multiple target, stay or move to a position that only have 1 direction to reach you so you can line them all up for a kill.

It been a year since I last play this game. But at my 80 hours of gameplay, I never once see how useful those fire and ice gem was even at low difficulty. I better off selling it to unlock all type of throwable faster.

If I remember it right, dynamite cost about 500 and it is probably a better investment than those gem.

"The piercing effect from Anubis's Gem of Armourbane simply let you hit multiple targets at once, without it you would only be taking care of a single mob at a time."

How can you hit multiple targets? If the bullets are going through armor, how can they hit multiple?

Thanks for the helpful guide, but I found some new information.

But first, it's complete nonsense to sell a gem, it brings 100 gold and you can't do anything with 100 gold, I wouldn't say a word if it was 10,000 gold, but 100 gold is nothing.

And what's missing is the information that something new and better will emerge once you have the Ice Gem and Fire Gem equipped, I think. I'm not sure yet, but there's probably more than a 10% chance of fire or freezing, because many of the bullets have a blue or a orange energy, I do not know exactly.
