Introduction

Note: There have been look-a-like copycat guides popping up. If it's not labeled by THN (The Horror Network), it's NOT one of mine and therefore not up to the quality that I aim to provide.

Welcome to the Bound by Flame 100% completion achievement guide.

Your first playthrough will most likely take you around 15 hours to complete, give or take a couple hours. If going for completion, the achievements will require at least three playthroughs. You will need to play once as a male and once as a female for the seduction achievements, and you will only be able to fully master one of the skill sets per playthrough (Arms, Ranger, Pyromancer).

Though the game itself is not overly difficult once mastered, certain areas can prove to be tough; especially if one does not utilize their full skillset. I recommend starting on Hawk difficulty while mastering Warrior and then completing the secondary playthrough on the highest difficulty while mastering Pyromancer. All of your clean up achievement runs should be played on the easiest difficulty possible for times sake.

Words of the wise: Recycle EVERYTHING, do not waste or sell materials, loot EVERYTHING, invest in the skill that allows you to hear a chime from lootables as early as possible, conserve all of your potions and munitions as much as possible, use Sybil whenever you can. Further details below.

Buffalo
Complete Bound by Flames in the Buffalo difficulty mode

Captain
Complete Bound by Flames in the Captain difficulty mode
Captain is the hardest difficulty for Bound by Flames. Seeing that Hawk difficulty has given people problems, try this method for beating the game on Captain.
Recycle ALL of your unused and old equipment for salvaging materials.
Loot EVERYTHING. As early as possible, put a point in the skill that allows you to hear lootables.
Never sell any materials, rarely buy armor, craft all of your potions, traps and crossbow bolts.
Use your potions sparingly and take Sybil whenever you can, since she's a healer.
Use the Ranger/Pyromancy skill trees. Max out Pyromancy, but put your initial points into Ranger. This is so you can dodge by using the B button easily, rather than taking a lot of damage as a Warrior.
You will need LOTS of potions and traps for the final boss. Ensure that you conserve as much as possible to this point. Before you enter the World Heart, put all of your remaining money into crafting items for potions or buying potions, whichever is cheaper for you. Go into the battle with no less than 30 health potions, 15 mana potions and around 30 traps. Set the traps between the times that he is fighting you and the dragon appearing, as well as when he stops shooting white balls. PATIENCE IS THE KEY TO THIS FIGHT. The last thing you want is to get him two hits to death and then him kick your ass with his spinning blade attack. Dodge like a madman, strike only when you're sure he won't counter combo you, and use traps to make him fall. When he rushes at you, stand behind a trap. If he triggers it, he will fall on his face 8 times out of 10.
Skills and Transformation
You will only be able to master one skill per playthrough, with a few extra points to tide you over. I recommend to go with either Arms or Ranger, then varnish it with some Pyromancy.

First Steps
Upgrade a skill
Simply upgrade your first skill.

Master Ranger
Unlock all of the skills of a Ranger and their upgrades
You'll need to put 35 points into the Ranger skill tree.

Master at Arms
Unlock all of the skills of a Warrior and their upgrades
You'll need to put 35 points into the Warrior skill tree.

Firestarter
Unlock all of the Pyromancer specialization skills and their upgrades
You'll need to put 35 points into the Pyromancer skill tree.

Humanist
Preserve your humanity
SAVE before EVERY decision. Easier than it's counterpart, always choose to defy the demon. Do not let him progress further in your thoughts and never side with him. You can check your humanity in your status screen, if you mess up reload your save.

Unleash the Beast
Accomplish your transformation by following the demon's way
SAVE before EVERY decision. You must always side with the demon, listen closely to him. If he tells you he doesn't like something, then don't do it. If he wants to enter your thoughts more, allow him to. You can check your possession in your status screen, if you mess up reload your save.
Seduction and Side Quests
Bow-chica-bow-wow.

Alright, so you need to be the opposite sex of the person you're trying to seduce. For example, if you're seducing Sybil, she's not into chicks and Randval isn't into the tunnle of love... dig? So the key is that you need to finish their side quests in order to seduce them. Complete their final side quest and follow the step after to unlock the seduction. Two achievements should pop for you, the seduction and the side quest completion achievement for that character.

Misc.
First Come, First Served
Loot 20 chests
The achievement description is misleading, it doesn't just have to be chests. Loot EVERYTHING. And not just for the benefit of this achievement. In fact, it is a good idea early on to spend one of your upgrade points on the skill that makes lootables have an audible chime. This will make them easier to find. I cannot stress the importance of having a stockpile of materials, as you will need many potions for the end boss.

Vulture
Search 50 fallen enemies
When foes die, they will sometimes leave behind a small brown sack on the ground containing gold, items or materials. Loot 50 of these and the achievement is yours. It's a good idea to invest early in the game in the skills that cause enemies to drop items more frequently. Materials, materials, materials.

And I Don't Throw Things Away
Recycle 30 objects
It's a good idea to recycle all of the armor and weapons that you aren't going to use anyway. Recycling armor and weapons gives you materials to craft upgrades and items like health and mana potions. You won't be hurting for money through the game if you don't spend all of your gold on things that you can craft, and so recycling every object that isn't beneficial for you should set you up with enough materials to make enough potions, traps and crossbow bolts to survive the end boss.

Blacksmith
Make 5 improvements to your weapons and armour
With the proper materials that are found throughout the game, as well as the ones that are given to you when you recycle your old equipment, you should obtain this achievement fairly early. Just make five improvements to any weapons and armor.

Craftsmanship
Make 100 objects (potions, booby-traps and munitions)
To survive, especially on higher difficulties, you're going to need to craft, craft, craft. I recommend that once you're beyond level 10, you should keep 20 health potions, 20 mana potions, 100-150 crossbow bolts and 10-20 traps on you at all times. Recycle your equipment and scavenge for material. Do not be wasteful.

Just a Warm-Up
Vanquish 25 enemies
Not dificult to obtain, slay 25 foes.

Just a Warning
Vanquish 75 enemies
Over the course of time, you will definitely slay 75 foes.

Just a Slaughter
Vanquish 150 enemies
If you've managed to complete most of the side quests and have done your fair share of exploring to find chests and lootables, you should encounter enough enemies to obtaint his achievement about half of the way through your playthrough.

It's a Trap
Set 20 traps and have them sprung
From the get-go you are able to use traps. You can even craft traps from materials. All you need to do is have enemies walk over 20 of them to unlock this achievement. Mine unlocked during the fight with the two Concubines, as I kited them into traps until one of them died.

I'm On Fire
Set your enemies aflame 50 times
Once you unlock the Pyromancy skill tree, there is a skill that allows you to set your weapon ablaze. Keep this spell active (it's actually pretty crucial to dealing damage, anyway) and you are sure to set an enemy ablaze every now and then. This one will come in time.

Chrysalid
Poison your enemies 50 times
When you upgrade your gear, you will be able to choose from a variety of perks. For your weapon of choice, imbue it with the power of poison to be able to obtain this achievement.

Shot Your Bolt
Fire 50 crossbow bolts
You don't even need to kill enemies, just fire 50 crossbow bolts to obtain this achievement. It should come in time, especially in the larger battles whilst trying to maintain your distance.

Bloody Hell
Kill 50 enemies with daggers
You'll need to be in Ranger stance for this one. If you're going with the Arms skill tree, it's best to obtain this achievement early on as the enemies only get tougher. For this, and all other achievements like it (such as the ones below) you can even beat an enemy down until it has very little health left and then finish it off with the item that you need to kill it with.

Sword It Out
Kill 50 enemies with a sword
Depending on which skill tree you've chosen will depend on when you get this achievement. It's good to get these out of the way early in the game. For example, if you've chosen Ranger, then try to defeat as many enemies as you can with a sword, axe or hammer at your earliest convenience. Enemies become too tough later on to be fought with a weapon that your character is not proficent in using. Otherwise, save these achivements for your multiple playthroughs.

Psycho Killer
Kill 50 enemies with an axe
Axes appear second to swords, so you may be able to get this achievement early on even if you aren't maxing out Arms. If you are maxing out Arms, switch up to an axe when you can to ensure netting this achievment.

Quite a Hammering
Kill 50 enemies with a warhammer
Warhammers appear later into the game and the enemies may be too tough by this time for you to accomplish this achievement if you've chosen any other tree than Arms. Unless you've chosen Arms as your skill tree, I'd advise to save this for your next playthrough where you max out the tree.
Wrap Up
Good luck in your achievement hunting!

Arrogance? "having or revealing an exaggerated sense of one's own importance or abilities"? I do not believe I've done this. As well, Steam is not my only platform, this game came out on three consoles in addition to Windows.

the arrogance of doing a 100 % Guide when you don't even have the 100% yourself

Joel, damn, bro. Just failed seducing Edwen because of first detail from you. So bad I saw it too late.

Some details on seductions:

Edwen can only be seduced if you lied to the mayor in act 1. I found this out the hard way.

Randval can be seduced even if you don't go the demon route, you don't have to do the quest with the potion, but I think you need to choose certain dialogue options when asking questions about his order (the ones that are something like "stay with me and you might get your wish" and "this might be the last chance you get to talk about it").

Rhelmar can only be seduced if you choose the option "you did everything you could" during the ritual at the end. I had 20% possession at the time so pure humanity is not a requirement.

As far as I can tell possession doesn't matter for anyone, only what choices you made, but obviously for Rhelmar and Edwen these choices limit how much possession you can get during their routes.

@Alexoferith Thanks for the heads up. I checked this guide right before playing the game and it is very informative.
The Horror Network  [author] 31 Mar, 2018 @ 5:49pm
Hmm I will have to look into that. I did this guide a long time ago, and I don't recall having any info on dialogue choices stopping romance. Thanks for the heads up.
Alexoferith 31 Mar, 2018 @ 8:54am
First, thank you for the guide. All the hard work. But, I am so frustrated as there is nothing about the fact you have to pick a specific answer in dialogue or it will cost you the chance of a romance. I found that because of a dialogue choice in first act, I cannot romance the knight. Now have to start all over again...sigh
Kirara 28 Jun, 2016 @ 12:11am
Actually Rhelmar can be seduced by possessed woman.
PCMaker 13 May, 2016 @ 11:22am
if you want all achievements you need to complete the game 3 times:
1x as possesed Man
1x as possesed Woman
1x as NON possesed Woman

also every time you do playtrough choose one tree and max is out
Alketal 21 Feb, 2016 @ 5:03am
I'm back! :steamhappy: Ok, there is additional information about the Act 2 required quests for Randval seduction:
•Complete the "Randval the Loner" side quest and take Randval with you to the caravan.
•Complete the "Randval Potion" side quest. (Only available if you're possessed)

So, looks like possessed woman (for Randval sedution), possessed man (for both female companions) and unposessed woman (for Rhelmar seduction) are the best choice to ensure you get the most achievements for the minimum number of playthroughs. And now I'm sure that "Purifying Fire" is unavailable for unpossessed. And "Sacrifice" is unavailable for possessed. You always get only one option from these two + "The One and Only Lord". I would be glad if you will add this information in your guide.
