This guide isn't a full walkthrough, but it aims to give enough information to make the "tricky" or "confusing" achievements much easier to figure out.

General Tips

This guide has last been updated on version 8.9d. If new "tricky" achievements have been added since, they should be in the bottom of the guide (in the "To-Do" List), though not properly reviewed and formatted. Everything else in the guide is accurate.

1. Read all of the Collection~
  • The battle tips often help to understand how the battles work, or explain how a specific monster works.
  • The events' encounter rules contain important info as well, which can help with increasing the chance of finding a certain monster.
  • On a similar note, revisit the tutorial in the Scenes menu if you happened to have skipped it.

2. Use Quickplay, unless it's a Story Mode achievement~
  • Score reduction doesn't matter, unless the achievement specifies a score requirement. Use as many gifts as you want.
  • Some achievements need a good build (i.e. a selection of gifts), but no specific gift is required for any of them.

3. Shoot wisely~
  • Holding your charge shot is required for some achievements, to avoid dealing damage to certain parts, or to deal no damage at all.
  • If you rather not hold the charge button for long, there's a setting in the Controls section of the options menu to change your Charge Mode and Charge Toggle for this purpose.
  • Avoid using any helpers (including characters with innate helpers) or gifts that can make those specific achievements harder.
  • If a breakable part is overkilled (i.e. takes more damage than its total health), the extra damage will still reduce the monster's fear (how much damage is transferred depends on the individual part). This can get in the way of a few achievements, and to avoid it, try to match your charge damage to the part's total health, to break it in one or a few charge shots.
  • Regular damage gifts also increase charge damage, which can help to match any parts' total health more precisely.
  • To help with measuring each breakable part's health, consider using Fear Sense.
  • It's also possible to use the feather shot type for these kinds of achievements, but it's usually not recommended because the shot type is harder to finely control.
  • (Advanced) It's possible to cancel a charge shot by switching Charge Modes using the Charge Toggle (even if both charge modes are identical).

4. Use the Link Synapse and Radiated Quick Gifts~
  • Don't feel ashamed of using these mechanics!
  • The Link Synapse will stop Abyss from appearing in Altered Story, but other than that, using the Link Synapse won't stop achievements from being unlocked.
  • Radiated quick gifts will persist into the next run of the same character in the same gamemode (Story or Endless, AS counts as Story), if left unused at the end of a run.
  • Be careful of quick gifts that give the monsters debuffs such as Green, Red, Blue, and Dark Photo, as these might reduce a monster's level, making certain achievements unable to be completed. Aside from that, quick gifts won't ruin a run for you.
Regular Dreams
Indestructible Master of Love - Defeat any monster after taking damage at least 10 times in a single level 7 battle or higher
  • Equip as many defensive and health-related gifts as possible.
  • Another way to complete this achievement is by getting hit 10 times in a level 7+ Shiny Battle found in Story Mode.

It's Almost Easy - Have 30 karma or less after clearing 2 full sized chapters in a Story run
  • Pick Defect, Mist Rain, fight the lowest levels available, make sure to get hit twice in every battle, try to not get a combo over 50%, and avoid using panic attacks.

Self Confidence - Love the very first monster of a Story run with three (3-star) Wonderful Power Gifts already equipped
  • It's not directly mentioned, but Scrambla and Boiler are your best friends here.
  • Choose a character that starts with a Wonderful Power Gift (e.g. Defect). Then, only two more 3-star gifts are required to complete the achievement.

Love is Overpowered! - Defeat a monster without getting any medals in a Quickplay battle
  • Get your score reduction really high (up to 99%). Any gifts will do, but panic gifts will get it higher with less power gift slots.
  • You can also get hit twice at the start, lose combo often, and avoid breaking parts.

Dream On - Love Anomaly in Endless Nightmare
  • Pick only the lowest level monsters, and Anomaly should appear.

Dream Den - Love Anomaly in Taller Tower or Torrential Tower by keeping the level low
  • Bring Snooze/Nap and get a low score as Defect (Get hit twice at the start, lose combo often, and avoid breaking parts). It doesn't matter when the base level reducing cards are used.
  • Anomaly will appear in the first thorned chapter at the level range of 2-4.
  • Candle and Rest can be brought along as well, in case you're unlucky in the thorned chapter.
Monster Dreams
Finely Scrambled - Break at least 50 of Shy Scrambla's spawn in a single level 8 battle
  • Avoid damaging anything except the smallest spawn, being careful not to overkill them. After adding the right choice of charge gifts, choose defensive gifts to make the fight easier. Keep at it until the achievement is unlocked.

The Most Spiciest Game - In a single battle with Rage Boiler, spend 15 seconds total time outside of bubbles without taking damage or using a panic
  • Move in and out of the safety bubbles until the achievement pops up.
  • The Buildup Bar can be enabled in the Game section of the options menu to help with the timing for this achievement.

Total Eclipse of the Heart - Stay on the wrong side of Moss for 5 consecutive seconds (Story Mode)
  • Stand behind Moss. Not very cozy in there.

This is The Art of Ruin - Defeat Lavalin with a 100% full combo without breaking any of her orbs
  • Equip a ton of damage gifts, and you should be able to defeat Lavalin before an orb leaves the screen. Be careful to avoid any orbs that show up.

Simple Geometry - During a battle with Prisma, Do not move, take damage, or panic for 15 consecutive seconds (Story Mode)
  • There's a complicated way to do this achievement that Unabsolutely wrote on his guide;
  • But the simple solution is to find/synapse Umbrella or Fallen Angel and stay inside of it.

You Should Not Be Here - Make Sentinel 4X jump by trying to hide

Don't Make Me Come Back There! - Make Sentinel 0X jump backwards 4 times in a single battle (Story Mode)
  • Going behind both versions of Sentinel will make her jump toward you.

Glamomorous - Defeat Momo without breaking any of her orange petals in a level 5 battle or higher
  • Focus on breaking the Murder Blossoms (i.e. the red flowers spinning around her) behind you. This can be done with auras, inverted helpers, and several shot type modifying gifts.
  • By breaking all of Momo's Murder Blossoms, her fear can practically be reduced by 100%, so it's not required to damage Momo's petals at all (although her individual petals will not receive any damage and start breaking before Momo loses 10% of her fear).

Petals in the Golden Wind - Break at least 100 of Shy Momo's golden bloom petals in a single level 7 battle or higher
  • The core of the golden blooms doesn't count as a petal. Breaking the core first will destroy all of its petals, which do not count as broken for this achievement. They must be broken individually.

Half Empty - Have exactly 2 of the largest Split Veyerals exist at once and nothing more (Story Mode)
  • After the first (eyeless) veyeral splits into 4, defeat 2 of those veyerals and all of the veyerals that they split into. You'll be left with 2 of the largest size of eyed veyeral.

Love You in Particular - Defeat Veyeral Rain while only breaking blood bullet veyerals in a level 4 battle or higher
  • In this fight, "blood bullet veyeral" refers to any veyeral that shoots red bullets. If they aren't shooting red bullets, leave them alone. The large veyeral that appears in the second phase of the fight isn't breakable, so there's no harm in damaging her.

Are You Even Trying? - Defeat Anomaly without even moving
  • The star shot type works very well for this achievement, so consider using The Devil. Choose panic gifts, as well as damage and defensive gifts.

All For One - Defeat Unity with a 100% full combo while breaking all of her rocks
  • Unity's rocks spawn at certain fear thresholds, and there are 15 of them. Most other monsters work this way as well, such as Heliola, Astrayo, Scrambla, Boiler, and all of the different Simulacra.
  • Using an aura makes this dream much easier to complete, as you can use its full-screen damage to hold the combo and its hitbox to deal damage to the rocks without shooting. Alter Devil to the rescue!
  • The wings don't count as rocks.

Attack The Light - Break Chroma's rainbow barrier 9 times in a single battle
  • Chroma will regenerate her barrier whenever she touches the top or bottom of the screen, not the right side of it.
  • It's easier to push her around with the use of split hearts and auras (Auras aren't 100% recommended though, be careful not to deal too much damage with them!).
  • Beating Chroma in Ultra Quickplay at her max level may be easier due to her increased health.
Speedrun Dreams
These three achievements are very different from the rest gameplay-wise, so they'll all be addressed at once in this chapter.

Her Heart: Quick Void - Defeat The Void as Her Heart in story mode with less than 8 minutes spent in battles

Her Heart: Quick Nightmares - Clear 2 cycles in Endless Nightmare as Her Heart with less than 12 minutes spent in battles

Twin Heart: Heavy Void - Defeat The Void as Twin Heart in story mode with less than 6 minutes spent in battles on at least Heavy Rain difficulty
  • Time is way more important than karma and score. Even though karma can cause the run to speed up, it depends too much on random chance. This means that lower level monsters are preferred, and that taking damage or losing combo will impact you very little.
  • Try to avoid extra chapters if possible, such as Anomaly, Polyps, the Radiant Garden, Abyss, and Shiny Battles.
  • Not all parts take an equal amount of damage. For example, both versions of Sentinel will take more damage if their head is targeted. Focus on these weakspots as much as possible.
  • Pay close attention to type matches. Avoid fighting monsters resistant to your shot type element, and favor monsters that are weak to your type.
  • Avoid any monsters that can't be damaged at all times, like Lila, Knot Knott, and Veyeral Rain, unless you can skip their phases or damage them regardless.
  • It may be worthwhile to fight an unoptimal monster, if a really good gift shows up.
  • In the Game section of the options menu there's an option for Battle Time, which is a timer that can help to measure your progress with these achievements.

thank you, I was struggling to understand the 100 petals and 50 scrambla spawn cheevos

Split does not generally help with overkill if you hit both splits on a single target in the same frame. Overall, most relevant overkill for dreams is the one you get from charge shots, which isn't affected by splits in any way.

If you can afford to use Energy Zest on Art Of Ruin, there are a lot of different better gifts (like Heartbeat) to be used in the situation (as well as many ways to just generally make a high-DPS build). A lot of people have done this dream with feather-based or even aura-based builds which don't need Energy Zest, and a good enough heart build can pull it off without Zest.

Sorry, I didn't notice these comments before.

It's funny you consider quick gifts good for speedrun dreams yet you suggest doing Quick Nightmares in the mode where you can't abuse your Quick Gift stock. It, along with the ability to scale if you manage your Solara visits properly (as well as having some of the extremely powerful blessings there), pulls Endless Stress ahead for that specific dream.

Also, for "Her Heart: Quick Nightmares", consider playing in the Endless Terror variant as while you don't have access to Solara, the enemy fear do not scale as much. Keep the level low to face Anomaly on the first cycle, try to get as many Overlove as you can and probably try to face The Void on the second cycle for a quick time.

For "This is The Art of Ruin", burst damage is what the achievement ask for.
I highly recommend using Energy Zest to double your starting energy but not actually using any charged shot until the second phase start AND THEN go all out.
Theoretically, you could achieve a similar effect with a panic attack build but you'll have to be very careful avoiding any glyph while using them.

In general, if you have trouble with overkilling stuff, consider trying split shots as they individually don't hit as hard as regular shots.

For speedruns, once again Boiler and Scrambla are your friends but radiated Quick Gifts from previous runs will help as well. Ok, technically the guide do mention this but it's especially true here.

donezo, i feel like the auras weren't helping as much as i hoped they would, so i added a warning on them as well
Pepper Orchid  [author] 24 Mar, 2024 @ 3:11pm
interesting, i might write down about Attack The Light being easier on higher levels after a bit of testing

Thanks, I didn't consider the starting gifts for Self Confidence, saved me some time.

For Attack The Light, I couldn't get the barrier to regenerate enough times due to her low HP and pushing her around only seemed to work in one of her two attack phases.
I eventually got it without trying in the highest level of her fight in UQP, where she has 60% more HP.

i'm really glad to hear that! :radiantheart:
