General Overview
Hey! Welcome to my guide for The Eternal Castle. I absolutely love this game, it's animation, it's art style, and etc. But much to my dismay, not a lot about it exists online. Just bits and pieces scattered about. So this guide is my attempt to get "everything" in one place coherently and (hopefully) helpfully. So if I miss anything, make any spelling mistakes, or you just have any questions, feel free to leave a comment.

IMPORTANT : The Ancient Ruins are randomly generated after the arena fight. So if something is slightly out of order don't worry. I just don't mention it enough.

The Crash Site
Amount of Glider Fragments: 2
Amount of items: 1

The intro starts with a wall of lore (which you may need to read somewhere more clear, so let me help you out).

YEAR 2XXX - BEFORE THE FALL OF THE CYBER-NET SOCIETY EXTRA TERRESTRIAL HUMAN COLONIZATION UNITS WERE ABLE TO CONSTRUCT PARALLEL SURVIVAL FACILITIES AROUND THEIR ROOT PLANET IN ORDER TO REESTABLISH A SELF SUFFICIENT ECOSYSTEM IN SPACE THE PROCEDURE WAS DISCONTINUED BY NUMEROUS TERRORIST ATTACKS TO THE MAIN CORE SERVERS AFTER COUNTLESS GLOBAL WARS ALL SYSTEMS GOT SHUT DOWN AND THE PROCEDURE WAS NEVER AGAIN RESUMED POLLUTED WATERS CLIMATE CHANGE RADIOACTIVE WARFARE AND ABSENCE OF RESOURCES CAUSED THE MAJORITY OF THE REMAINING HUMANS TO DECEASE THE LAST COLONIZATION UNITS IN SPACE WERE ABLE TO SURVIVE FOR SEVERAL YEARS BEFORE EXTINGUISHING MOST OF THE REMAINING RESOURCES NEEDED FOR SURVIVAL SCAVENGER UNITS WERE SENT BACK TO EARTH TO GATHER MATERIALS IN ORDER TO RESTORE THE SELF-SUFFICIENT ECOSYSTEM FACILITIES AND CONTINUE THE EXTRATERRESTRIAL COLONIZATION PROCEDURE ONE OF THE UNITS WAS SENT BACK TO EARTH BUT THE UNIT NEVER RETURNED IT'S BEEN TOO LONG SINCE THE LAST TIME I WAS IN TOUCH WITH HER I KNOW SHE IS IN DANGER AND I KNOW SHE NEEDS MY HELP GOING BACK THERE BY MY OWN IS A SUICIDE MISSION BUT I HAVE NO CHOICE LEFT EITHER I GO, OR SHE DIES.

We then get to our character selection. Adam has more strength and resistance, while Eve has better stamina and aim. You get an achievement for playing as both Adam and Eve.

Adam: Use Adam

Eve: Use Eve

After a fancy cutscene, you shall land into the tutorial for basic controls and such. Which will pop up in the very bottom middle of the screen. Some advice before we start the game fully though, since it was something I struggled with, and the game itself didn't say. But to swap between your two weapons on controller (Xbox at least) is the view button, you know? the left mini button with the three lines?

But more importantly, to your immediate left you will find a Glider Fragment 1/30. Right next to the fragment will be a flower. It is useless outside of one achievement in The Unholy Church, so grab it if you are going for that but keep in mind it takes up a weapon slot.

After going right a few screens, you'll come across your first pistol. There's many like it, but this one is yours. The pistol while sometimes weak, has the most ammo to find out in the world. Making it a good pickup while empty on other guns. Picking it up is basically an unmissable achievement.

Gun: Find the gun

After a brisk walk by the lake, some jumping, and talking with the lovely locals, you will come across a crashed ship. In here you'll have to quickly get passed an automated turret before it tears you a new one. In the very next room you'll come across a computer with Glider Fragment 2/30 right next to it. This fragment is unmissable. After this fragment will be your first boss and first mandatory glider piece. Since they are unmissable I won't ruin the surprise

Baby Glider: Grab the Cyclop's GLIDER
The Unholy Church

Amount of Glider Fragments: 1
Amount of items: 3

The first piece of non teleporter equipment you find will be less than short brisk walk away from the start. That being the AR ETA, which helps by showing the distance until next major event. It will be right below the no coming back graffiti (On the left in the pic. Realized it turned to a bad angle in this picture). And to the right of the item (and hard to miss) will be the double barrel shotgun. While cool, the double barrel is easily forgotten about due to ammo for it being the 2nd rarest type in the game. So it's a use and lose item. Still good to pick up if you have no pistol ammo from the crash site. I also recommend not using it on any weaker enemies due to ghastly surprises later in the level.

Double Barrel: Find the double barrel shotgun

After a safe and lovely stroll through the graveyard, you'll arrive to the lone church on the hill. Upon entering, the first door you see before a drop will lead you into a room with the lone Glider Fragment 3/30 this zone has. But to the far right of the room, is the AR AIM. Which as the name says, helps your guns be more accurate.

Upon dropping down from the entrance, you'll come across our first "mini-boss" the Kranker. The Kranker can rip the player in half if they stay too close to him for too long. This is where that trusty double barrel comes in. OR if you still have that flower from the opening crash site. You can hold it out like you're aiming a gun. Where it'll befriend the Kranker, making him leave. Killing and befriending both have achievements, if you want both in one playthrough it is possible by using the "wake up at last checkpoint option" which undoes everything after that meditation shrine.

Doesn't scare me!: Kill the Kranker

Friends: Make the Kranker happy

The puzzle and it's symbols are random every playthrough. So while I can't help with the answer to it, I can explain how to do it. The symbols you see on the machine can all be scene in the area you dropped down into and met the Kranker in. So look at the dark walls for the symbols and do them in order from left to right. May take a second if you're struggling to see them, but easy otherwise. If you get the puzzle wrong the first time it will lead to a side area that has no items.

In this optional area, you'll play as a goober. You just wanna keep running to the right, avoiding the turrets from killing you. Whenever your vision goes "orange" your controls will be inverted. Once you reach the end and destroy the console, you'll repeat your journey and run all the way to the left again. Until you get dumped off into the area had you gotten it right the first time.

This pit is where you'll drop to if you get the puzzle right the first time, or finish the goober section. On the left, glowing cyan blue. Is the PACEMAKER, which just increases your health regen over time. That being the last item found in the Unholy Church.

The room before the boss will always have an axe for you to pick up and have fun with. If you miss the axe don't worry, the axe pops up commonly on raiders in the other zones.

Blood Rage: Find the axe

After you open the secret door in the meditation and axe room. You'll enter the boss arena, where both the Husband and Wife will attack you. The Husband acts more like the Kranker and charges you, while the wife uses some range to hit you. Killing the Wife drops the mandatory glider piece, which lets you pick it up to immediately escape the arena and finish the zone. BUT if you want to get the achievement for killing both of them, I'd recommend going for the Husband first which shouldn't be too hard with the axe we picked up. If you missed anything prior to the boss you'll have to return to ship, since picking up the boss glider fragment locks off the zone for good.

Lab Glider: Grab the Scientist's GLIDER

True Love: Kill the Scientist and his Wife
The Ancient Ruins

Amount of Glider Fragments: 15
Amount of items: 3

After fighting 3 raiders on your walk from the start. you'll come across a bridge that drops down into a fighting arena. To get the HELMET you'll have to run and jump to grab the other side of the gap. If you fail and fall, use return to last checkpoint to undo the bridge being destroyed. Can be kinda finicky with the movement controls. After picking up the helmet jump back down into the pit and finish the fight. After the fight go left through a hole and punch it open. For the first fragment of the zone.

Upon crawling down the hole you'll see a group of raiders. One's carrying a double barrel so best be careful. Once they're dealt with, if you keep going right you'll find a Glider Fragment next to the man in the chair.

Once you climb back up from the last fragment, you'll go right and come to this jump that may take you a few tries. Then you can say hi to the friendly goober and drop down for Glider Fragment.

After that frustrating jumping section (took me 10+ tries sadly) and a fight, the first door you see going upstairs will lead you to Glider Fragment. As well as the fragment, there will be friendly raiders with hammers. Which are faster and use less stamina than the axe, but way less damage.

Hammer: Find the hammer

Once you go back down the stairs where you got the previous fragment, you'll have to climb to the second floor and use the 2nd door. It'll lead to a room where the Glider Fragment is by the ledge you can scale down. Once down there will be another raider with a hammer if you missed grabbing one in a previous room. Careful for the eye hurting disco party.

Once you come to a stop due to a certain gate blocking your way, the first door should lead you to an area to climb up and drop down. The door in the drop down leading you to where the Glider Fragment is being worshiped on a table. Continue through this path until you unlock the gate and prepare your eyes for flashing neon.

After the panic at the disco you caused, you'll want to take a leap of faith from the balcony. Once you land, there will be a guy running away from you immediately. If you somehow catch and kill him, you'll get a katana (no achievement tied to it though). Climb the tower to the meditation shrine and to your immediate left will be a Glider Fragment. This point through the map will be randomly generated from tile sets. So I got pictures of the locations but their order may vary for you. Some may not spawn at all. You should be at 18/30 fragments by the end due to there being 10 fragments in the last zone and 2 in the castle itself.

As you fight across the roof you will come across a raider wielding a mace. The mace is the strongest midgame melee weapon, but also uses a lot of stamina at a slow speed.

Mace: Find the mace

For the Glider Fragment you'll have to make the jump to the checkpoint. If you miss you'll have to load an old checkpoint.

The Glider Fragment will be in the center archway.

At the bottom of the garden, between both platforms, will be the Glider Fragment.

As you can see, sometimes a Glider Fragment can spawn by this campfire guarded by two raiders. This was screenshoted on a new character.

Keep climbing up the building until you find the Tea Master. On his table will by a Glider Fragment. You can also get the katana from him, but he's also one of the strongest characters in the game. And below the Tea master is another Glider Fragment. You can get to it by walking story below the tea Master via hidden entrance.

Once you come across two gentlemen chilling at a table, below them will be a secret staircase leading to a Glider Fragment and the SHOES.

On the table you will fine your nice new pair of shoes. Which grant better stamina regeneration (Almost needed). and if you go further right from the shoes, you'll come across another Glider Fragment

After all the rooftop action you'll come to a spot where you have to jump across. Instead climb down the ladder at the ledge and at the bottom will be multiple instant death traps waiting for you. Take it slow and at the end will by another Glider Fragment

After solving the first gate puzzle. There will be a second one that leads you to a room with blue lights and spikes all over it. To the left of the switch will be a Glider Fragment. But in the middle of the room past the blade trap will be the BACKPACK. Which lets you carry one extra magazine for any gun you're using.

Climb down for a Glider Fragment. You will come across it before the rock and roll concert. Do avoid the spikes though.

After all the traps and deaths you've suffered at this guy's men. You should kick his ass. His second phase will begin to spawn in an army of raiders, best you take him out in one go as quick as possible. Honestly his zone is tougher. Defeating him will get you your 3rd mandatory Glider Fragment. Defeating him barehanded will get you an achievement.

Temple Glider: Grab the God's GLIDER

Aztlan Warrior: Kill the God with your fists
The Lost City

Amount of Glider Fragments: 10
Amount of Items: 3

After a quick walk, few gun fights, and freeing some people. You'll come across an abandon Gas Station. If you climb to it's roof via the building to the left. Upon getting on the roof you'll find a stack of grenades and a Glider Fragment to the right of them. Grenades rarely show up. Mainly only appearing in this spot sadly.

Boomer: Find the Grenades

Almost immedialty after the Gas Station. There will be a house with a man hiding in the basement. Next to him will be a Glider Fragment and the standard shotgun.

Shotgun: Find the shotgun

The floor boards in the picture above are weak and cracking. Standing on top of them will drop you down to someone hiding with another Glider Fragment, and multiple weapons (that can be hard to pick up due to stacking). But a great find down here is the machine gun. Which eats up a ton of ammo but is accurate and hits hard.

HO-HO-HO: Find the machine gun

Right above our well armed friend is another beautiful Glider Fragment.

The next building you enter with raiders armed with machine guns will have a Glider Fragment on the floor above them. Climb up but be careful since the floor below the fragment will fall apart. Needing a checkpoint restart if missed.

After all the fighting you'll enter the peaceful settlement at war. There is 2 Glider Fragments within the town. The first one will be the building right next to the checkpoint, where it'll be beside the table where two people talking. The next will be in the last house before exiting town, upstairs on the third floor with the gun collector.

When you go down the pit in front of the tower and climb back up, you will be able to turn around and climb up to the 2nd floor for the HEADBAND. Which increases your strength. But on the first floor where the machine gunners were, you'll find a Glider Fragment, and machine guns if you somehow missed it earlier. After this going right leads to a bridge you must cross.

After the bridge sniper section, you'll see a gate with a man on the other side. Jump down on your side and you'll find yourself falling into a dark and dank sewer. After slowly climbing down a tall ladder you'll see the first circular pipe in the middle of the zone. Jump / climb across to the high ground and next screen (ignoring the ladder to the exit for now). You will now see another circular pipe, make a jump across the game to above where the lever is at you will be able to crawl into the tiny space for a Glider Fragment.

Another hard to see jump but as you get to the ladder that exits the sewer, you wanna carefully jump across to get to the CAPE. Remember NOT THE LADDER IN THE TOP IMAGE, JUMP THE GAP to the very right of the image.

Climbing out of the sewer on the otherside you saw earlier will give the last item. In the fenced area to your left will be the VEST. Giving you better bullet protection.

Geared Up: Find all available items

The last Glider Fragment is in the fence area to the far right after the Rambo scene.
After this you must climb the tower fighting through enemies until you finally arrive at the boss. The 2nd achievement for this boss is to outrun him on the rooftop. Which is hard on a first attempt. But if you use wake from last checkpoint it'll put you right where the boss encounter starts, so don't be afraid to try multiple times. No pictures cause it's a cool interaction. After the sniper you will get your last mandatory Glider Fragment.

City Glider: Grab the Sniper's GLIDER

Speedwork: Outrun the sniper
The Castle

Amount of Glider Fragments: 2

After a long journey of meeting the lovely locals and gathering all four major Glider Fragments. You will come to the final showdown at the titular Eternal Castle. While riding your glider you will need to hold jump to go up and crouch to go down (duh). The lines that appear show where the full blast is going to hit. Depending on your success there is two achievements. My advice for getting the maverick achievement is just to be quick moving up and down. Once your glider starts to go down holding jump will keep it momentarily in the air, maybe giving enough time to land successfully. If you fail your first time you can Alt + F4 to take you back to the last checkpoint to try again. BUT to get all Glider Fragments you will need to crash the glider.

Maverick: Reach the Castle with the ship

Kamikaze: Crash the ship before reaching the Castle

After crashing your glider onto the beaches of the castle, you'll wanna head far left until you come across a meditation point. The Glider Fragment being to the left of it (careful for the acid water). After grabbing it you'll want to just head back to where you came.

In this stone you will find the mother of all swords, the blade of the One, and the best new game plus item. By holding down aim with it and shooting, instead of throwing it, you'll shoot off a blast that pierces enemies for no ammo cost.

Clashing Thunder: Find the Sword

If you successfully fly the glider you'll skip the boss and not get the achievement. Here you will fight the mini-boss of The Castle (maybe the real boss). Standing where I am in the picture is a sure fire way of easily killing the boss. Where he'll slam his head down for you to hit and not kill you with his fist.

Metal Crusher: Destroy the Guardian

After going through the opening area of The Castle. You'll come across a bright room of people in cryo? I'm not sure what's goin on here. Keep going right and ignore the console that starts the final fight. At the very end of the room will be the last Glider Fragment. Good job, tedious work.

Collector: Find all GLIDER fragments

The final fight, the ultimate showdown, hunt down the ai, and the big boss. The AI isn't too hard if you know what to do, but just wait until she can be striked and then crouch next to her display to hack it. Her hack is a bit like Mass Effect 1 LE hacking, but just lock in the open part of the circles on the line to the center. Once you've hacked her 3 times you are winner. Congrats on winning wahoo! The worst achievements have yet to come.

Mission Complete: Save the AI
The 2nd Time Around (New Game Plus / Permadeath)
Once you've beaten the game on a save, you will be put into new game plus. Where you'll start with all items, all Glider Fragments, and whatever weapons you were carrying (hopefully the sword). But in this, it's one death and your save is over and done. You can immediately enter NG+ (without any of the items or Glider Fragments) by either holding shift / the view button on Xbox, then pressing the save. This will start you on permadeath (this feature isn't available until beating the game once). So if you do die but have the skills not to need your previous items, you'll be fine.
But take your time in this mode, go slow and play it safe. I have died to just running in and stuff. One big tip for health is that, when you afk in a safe area with no enemies around. Your character will sit down. While they sit down they'll regen health quickly.

I won't spoil any of the changes in new game plus since it mainly follows the original run. BUT you must beat new game plus with all fragments to get the completionist achievement.

When you die this will pop up. But it's an example of completion showing. You MUST finish permadeath (stopping the AI) to get the Completionist, Die hard, and Hardcore Gamer achievements. For hardcore gamer it has to be in a row, so you must use the same save as the one you got Die Hard on. Getting these shows you got the stuff.

Completionist: End the game at 100%

Die Hard: Finish the second run

Hardcore Gamer: Finish the third run
Misc. Achievements
An easy way to get this achievement without needing an in person friend is to do. First start the game using keyboard controls only, make sure your controller you need for Player 2 is off until you get to a meditation checkpoint. Once there, turn on your controller until the P2 ACTIVE pops up from the checkpoint. Once it does open up the menu with both the PC and controller. Then Player 2 will spawn in, next all you have to do is unplug the controller or take out it's batteries.

Not like this: Unplug your friend

Once you finish the crash site you'll get the TELEPORTER. The teleporter will let you go back to your ship anywhere in the game (except the end), resetting the entire zone you just left.

Vaporize: Teleport to ship

This achievement is a given for permadeath. But you are able to get it in the start of a save before entering NG+/Permadeath. So I thought I might as well put it down here to show that. Also go watch Highlander, great 80s movie.

Highlander: Finish without ever dying

The hardest 2 achievements in the game have to be the speedrun achievements. They require many wall clips and foreknowledge of the zones and their areas. Pressing T on your keyboard turns on the moment timer so you can keep track of your time better. Wall clipping can be done doing the inputs the gif above shows. But in words, to do the clip you must crouch with an empty hand, start aiming while still crouched, stand up, stop aiming, and move (roll) into the wall. This has to be done in quick succession. You keep clipping through walls until you either jump, attack, or fall.

1987 just takes trial and error with constant clipping when you can. Mainly at the first jump shown in the gif and the right door of the boss room.

1987: end the intro within 19.87 moments

Speed run is the hardest one to get. Requiring you to beat the game in 30 minutes or less (or 300 moments the game calls it). I wish I could give good walkthrough or tips, but I'm still working on getting it (LOL). My advice is to watch the official 35 minute speedrun from lead developer Leonard Menchiari. Or more importantly the sub 30 speedruns from youtuber Tenka. Who has multiple videos doing it in under 30 minutes.

Speed run: end game within 300.00 moments

After everything we finally come to the last achievement. The mother of them all. Simply get every prior achievement and boom you did it. Congrats if you get this, you have to be a real trooper to get this one.

Achiever: Unlock all achievements
Closing Thoughts
Welcome to the end of my (hopefully) lovely guide! I hope it helps whoever's reading this. Cause for me trying to get achievements was a bit of trial and error due to no guides for certain achievements (such as Completionist and not knowing you had to beat it in NG+).

I spent some good amount of time working on this guide, getting all the pictures, trying things out, and general gameplay things. So if it even helps you a bit, it did it's job. Like I said in the intro, if I misspelled something, forgot something, or you have a question feel free to leave a comment.

Thanks for dropping by, and have a wonderful day.

If you notice a different background on the entrance to the shoes gif, it's because of the randomly generated level layout.

Heh, the view ('left mini') button is the one with the two squares on it. The 'three lines' is the menu button.

Great guide,otherwise.

You get it once you get all the glider parts on new game plus (aka permadeath).

The Ancient Ruins are somewhat randomly generated, but the images above the shoe pic should always be where they're located. Once you're under a hidden staircase will be down there

Unless you're going for the 100% achievement, just starting a new save in NG+ works extremely well. My ultimate advice is just taking everything at a snail's pace in NG+. I have sadly died to recklessness. Another big tip (unsure if I said in the guide). But when you afk for a bit in a safe area, your character will sit down and regen health

Fantastic guide, seriously. I just finished up and immediately died to a hanging car. Might utilize the infinite clairvoyance manip, might not.
