Imagine that you have both hands. Now you want to play the game with keyboard and mouse, but default controls are messy and your friends play with a controller and say "just get good".

There are some tricks to the control scheme to actually play the game. I will show you.

But even with this layout you will never beat cheaters. So if you don't want to ruin your save file and repeatedly fight 10x run speed 800 level cheater with +10 poison+blood weapon, navigate to the "Blue Acolyte" section.

Press ESC, navigate to the 5th button, press Enter.

To remove the effect of the bug you must turn off and then turn on the option in the menu EVERY time you launch the game. The option is called "Disable double clicking".

"Blue Acolyte" is the name of the mod that is created with the aim of fighting hacking and to block and kick hackers.
It can be downloaded on the Nexus Mods. To use it just put the files in the game folder.

With it you can see the information about the multiplayer session in the top-left corner of the game screen: steam profile username, in-game username without censorship, player level.

The mod will automatically kick malicious invader that, for example, try to heal themself through the usage of items.
But the mod might not kick the player with the maximum level while you being in the low soul memory tier, so you should check who is connected. So if you see a hacker that obvious, you can jump off the cliff, die to monsters or press Alt+F4, then block the player and restore your save file.

Yes, you can also block the hacker in Steam and he will never be able to connect.
To watch recent players open the Steam Overlay using Shift+Tab, choose "Game overview" option and navigate to the "Recent players" button.

The mod will make a back-up copy of your save every time you join the multiplayer session, so if a malicious player broke your game you can just copy the back-up and rename it as if it was the original save file. Don't forget to close the game first.

With the F4 button you can open the Logs, it can show you if the player is playing from the Family Sharing Account, it also shows his original account. So if he is an 800 level invader, this information speaks for itself.
