If you have an RTX3070 or better, the Lighting & Graphic Enhancement mod has a nice selection of INI configuration mods for different cards, including:

• Ultra (24GB VRAM Cards)
  
• Ultra (12GB VRAM Cards)
  
• High (8GB VRAM Cards)
  
• Medium (8GB VRAM Cards)
  
• Low (8GB VRAM Cards)

First of all, you'll need to enable DirectX 12 support. Here's how to do that:

• Open your Steam Library
  
• Right click the TSW4 game's title and select Properties.
  
• On the General tab you'll find Launch Options section.
  
• Enter the launch option -DX12
  
• Close the game's Properties window and launch the game.

If the game crashes, stop here. Unfortunately, this method will not work. It is possible to use this mod with the older DirectX, but you are likely to experience problems.

If the DirectX 12 change worked, proceed.

Go to the Train Sim Community[www.trainsimcommunity.com] website, specifically the Lighting & Graphic Enhancement Version[www.trainsimcommunity.com] page.

Download the TOD4 Manual and read it - it includes important information about how to change the INI configuration file and fix the shaders. It'll instruct you to install the GodMode[www.trainsimcommunity.com] - a mod that allows you to change the time, weather and other settings on the fly. This mod is required for this enhancement to work.

Make sure to make a backup of your current INI file before you replace it.

Download Medium (8GB VRAM Cards).zip, install it (replace your INI file) and start the game. Monitor the FPS - if you're getting 80-100 FPS or more, you're ready to try Ultra (12GB VRAM Cards).zip - this is the setting I use on my mid-range RTX4070.
