🌐 Abbreviated Collection of Walkthroughs and Tips for MGS2 🗽(WIP)

The purpose of this guide is to address some of the aspects specific to this port and to point the reader in the direction of existing high quality walkthroughs for MGS2.
Having to follow a bunch of external external links is annoying so I tried summarize the info and use the links as proof. This guide started as just compiling an ordered list of resources to be able to quickly find them again, and it remains such. If it helps anyone else all the better. Spoilers are kept to a minimum, but some slight giveaways are inevitable to make the guide intelligible and easy to navigate.
This is a work in progress, and it will be edited as I capture gameplay to contribute some of the old clips that have been deleted over the years.

🔰 Interface, Controls, and General Tips
I want to include any information regarding the controls of this port. The new Stance Menu is accessed after pausing the game.

  • Tutorial on controls is accessed from the Main Menu > special > basic actions.
  • Difficulty can now be changed on New Game+.
  • Make Codec calls at every turn for narrative reasons and guidance. SAVE OFTEN. Unlike mgs1 there are save prompts between long cutscene sequences, but aside from the obvious reason there are many interesting conversations that can be missed.
  • Running while shooting is now LB+X (L1+Square) and Guns can now be fired in FIRST PERSON VIEW.
  • Hiding unconscious bodies in lockers keeps them knocked out INDEFINITELY.
  • Crouch to stop bleeding and heal faster.
  • The magazine is an empty ammo clip thrown to create a noise to distract enemies. Received after a standard reload (press X/Square after exhausting ammo.) Used to make guards to leave their patrol routes or even forget they noticed you. Empty a few clips when you're spotted or in an area with no guards. Receiving this all important stealth tool discourages the "tactical reload."
  • 💤 Non-lethal strategies make things easier in the long run. Guards found unconscious will not cause a caution phase, and dragging their bodies drops two items instead of a corpse's single item.

Escort E.E.
Memorize the two flooded areas. Explore and keep an eye on the radar path. Sea mines don't respawn so purposely hitting them has the advantage of not dealing with them when you're more vulnerable on your way back.
💊 Using Pentazemin makes EE's O2 gauge drain slower since she's concentrating on Raiden's heartbeat which is slowed down by the drug, but make sure you save some for the sniping section ahead. Use first person view to adjust direction when surfacing for air.

you have to press 1/2/3 (i forget which) to open the menu and A and D to scroll through. i think 9/0 also work

@Tzeentch I tried hitting every key with no luck. Maybe it's two keys at the same time? I'm hoping there is a manual somewhere on the main menu I can point out in the guide if I find it. I would strongly recommend using a controller for metal gear though since there are pressure sensitive inputs.

Nice, I gotta try this Vamp exploit since it's the boss fight I enjoy the least.
