"mat_specular" and why you should set it to 0.

"mat_specular" adds specular mapping to textures, but certain textures don't look good. This guide is a series of images with mat_specular on and off to demonstrate the odd shininess of textures.

the default cubemap should be the map's skybox, but usually it doesn't work and the cubemap defaults to that orange/shiny thing, but this isn't the only culprit. hl2 assets are done in a hasty stupid way and most of them reflect too much, and given that there is no "roughness" option for materials, which should blur the reflection, the reflections look like ass even if you build them properly

the default cubemap is really orange and shiny maybe thats why it looks so weird
