Prometheus
By Krzeminsky
In Greek mythology, Prometheus is a Titan, a group of divine beings who predate the Olympian gods. Prometheus is best known for his cunning and for his role in the creation of humanity.

Prometheus is most famous for two major deeds:

Creation of Humans: According to one myth, Prometheus and his brother Epimetheus were tasked with populating the Earth with animals and humans. However, Epimetheus had already distributed all the positive traits and abilities to the animals. To rectify this, Prometheus stole fire from the gods, symbolizing knowledge and enlightenment, and gave it to humanity. This act enabled humans to progress, learn, and develop civilization.

Stealing Fire: Prometheus's theft of fire from the gods was a significant act of defiance, and as punishment, Zeus, the king of the gods, had him bound to a rock on Mount Caucasus, where an eagle (or vulture) would daily eat his liver, which regenerated each day due to his immortality. This punishment was meant to be eternal, but Prometheus was eventually freed by the hero Heracles (Hercules).

Prometheus is often seen as a symbol of rebellion against oppressive authority and a champion of human progress and knowledge. His story has been the subject of numerous works of art, literature, and philosophy and has influenced the way we think about the relationship between humans and the gods, as well as the importance of knowledge and enlightenment in human history.
