Intro
Currently out on the BETA branch, there is a new level editor for Turbo Overkill. This guide will give you a crash course on how to use it.

To access the Beta, right click on Turbo Overkill, go to Properties > Betas and set Beta Participation to [beta].

Then open Turbo Overkill. Once you hit the main menu. You should be playing on version 1.1 or higher (seen on the bottom left corner of the main menu).

Go to Custom Maps > Level Editor to launch the level editor.

From here, you will be presented with a load screen. You can also make new maps from this screen.
Basically, give your map a file name (this is the name of the folder where your map will be stored) and then a nicer name to be displayed on Steam Workshop. You can give a short description of the map too, but all of this can be changed later if you desire.

Click Proceed
Carving your first room
Once you have created your map, click on the 2nd button on the toolbar (Geo-Painter). This will open the Geo Painter options.

Click Enter Geo-Paint mode to create your geometry.

This will create a cube in the center of the level.
From here, hold Right Click to rotate the camera and fly around with WASD.

You can fly up with Space Bar and down with Left+Control.

While holding right click, hover over a wall on your newly created cube, you will see a yellow square appear.

By clicking, you will carve a piece of geometry, moving the wall back. You can click on any surface to carve it out. Pressing X while hovering over a piece of geometry will undo the carve.

You can hold down Left+Shift to select multiple walls to carve at a time! This is useful for creating larger rooms.

You can also rotate a piece by pressing the R key.

Understanding the toolbar
You will notice at the top of the screen is a toolbar.
There are 3 main editors here. Carve, Brush Set and Texture Paint. There is also a toggle for turning sound effects on and off for the tool.
Using the Brush Set Tool
The Brush Set tool allows you to paint more complex geometry on a wall, floor or ceiling piece. Click the Brush Set tool on the top of the toolbar to be presented with the Voxel Brushes menu.

There are 3 categories here. Floor, Wall and Ceiling. Each category will set the brush type depending on the piece of geometry you are clicking. Lets start by selecting the Wall category and picking the BRACE piece.

Click on a wall to set the geometry to the BRACE piece. You can also Left+Shift select to paint multiple pieces.

Don't forget, you can press R while hovering over a piece to rotate it. This is useful for when placing stairs and ramps, you can rotate it to go the direction you would like.

Using the Texture Paint tool
The Texture Paint tool allows you to give your levels a bit more flavor (there are only so many maps with brown bricks people can handle).

Click the Texture Paint button on the top toolbar.
After this, take note of the Material Browser at the bottom of the screen. This lets you set a floor, wall and ceiling texture. Setting these textures works outside of the Texture Painter tool, for when you want to carve a new area, the materials will be maintained while carving new geometry.

Click on the SET button on the Wall Material. This will open the Texture Browser.
From here, select any texture you desire from one of the categories on the left. For the purpose of this tutorial, I will pick a marble texture from the LAVISH category.

Click on a wall to paint it the marble texture.

NOTE: Any new geometry you carve will use the marble texture on the walls. If you wish to reset this, click the X on the Wall material button in the Material Browser to go back to the default behavior.

Select the Floor and Ceiling SET buttons and select a new texture for those. Any surface you click on now should have a new material set on it.

TIP: If you want to copy a material from any surface, press one of the shortcuts to set it to your brush:
1 - Floor
2- Wall
3 - Ceiling

Next Steps
Thanks for reading this guide!

From here, I recommend you read the other mapping guide for Turbo Overkill found here:
https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2847454665

You can start this from the "Working inside TurboEd" to get a grasp on how Trigger placements work. There is also a section here on publishing your map to Steam Workshop.

Please note, since this tool is currently in beta, you can only publish maps and play maps from other beta users.
