Guide to Completing the Hardest Class-Specific Achievements

While most achievements may seen trivial at first glance, they can be very deceiving at times.
Whether it be doing one task dozens of times, or completing one obscure combination of events, many will struggle on particular achievements.
With this guide, I attempt to offer my advice on how to eliminate the hardest achievements in the game.

Scout Achievements
Back 2 Back
While using the Back Scatter, kill a Heavy/Medic pair within 20 seconds of each other.

Strategy
Due to the bulkiness of Heavy, you will not be able to finish him off at maximum overheal with most Mediguns. As a result, you will want to focus on killing the Medic (with optimally one or two shots) first to reduce negated damage. After killing the Medic, if you're running the Fan o' War - if possible - mark the Heavy for Minicrits, and quickly shoot him for one "meatshot" (point blank hit).

Optimally, after retreating, the Heavy will attempt to eat his lunchbox item to recover his health. However, if that does not occur, you may need to rush him down within the next 20 seconds. Jump around erratically, shoot him down with your Front Scatter, and if needed, finish him off with your Pistol of choice.

Additional Notes
* While the damage can be increased by hitting people in the back - you often will only get one shot before the enemy turns around. As a result, you may just want to focus on shooting instead of going for precise Back Scatters.
* If you see the Medic using the Vaccinator - don't bother going for the achievement. Unless you're ballsy enough to attempt relying on Random Crit Bat Swings to kill the Medic, you will certainly die - as your bullets will deal close to zero damage. If you still wish to try, however, the Flying Guillotine is one of the few Typeless weapons that Scout can utilize.

Beanball
Stun a Scout with their own (Sandman) ball.

Optimal Set
* Force-a-Nature / Soda Popper
* Flying Guillotine (not important)
* Sandman (required)

Recommended Map
* Degroot Keep

Strategy
With the Sandman being heavily nerfed since Jungle Inferno, finding a Sandman Scout in Casual is rare. As you cannot complete this achievement in Mann vs. Machine against bots, you will have to find another Scout in the wild using what is often considered the Worst Scout Melee.

While you won't find many in regular matches, Degroot Keep is one of the few places where the weapon has a niche. However, Scout still is an relatively uncommon pick in the gamemode, and you still may struggle to find Sandman users. But once you do, it shouldn't take more than a few attempts before one of the Scouts give you a ball to return.

Additional Notes
* If you can cooperate with an enemy (or just have a spare friend), this achievement can be trivialized (and while you're at it, be nice and let them also get the achievement).

Brushback
Stun 50 enemies (with the Sandman) while they are capturing a point or pushing the cart.

Strategy
Once again, you will have to use The Worst Scout Melee. The strategy itself is pretty self-explanatory - throw your Ball into the wild, and slowdown 50 people while they capture the objective.

Additional Notes
* Technically speaking, Bonk! actually can work to complete the achievement in another way. If you take any damage while under the effects, you will be slowed down. Interestingly, if you're attempting to capture a point while slowed, you will gain a point for the achievement. While I would not recommend using this for completing the achievement as a whole, it can help out when getting the last few points.

First Blood / First Blood, Part II
Get the first kill in an Arena match. / Kill 5 enemies with the First Blood crit buff in an Arena match.

Required Gamemode
* Arena

Optimal Set
* Soda Popper / Stock Scattergun
* Flying Guillotine / PBPP
* Bat

Strategy
If you aren't already aware - Arena Mode has been abandoned for a long time. With the exception of Halloween Map Graveyard, the gamemode has been unavailable in Casual for a long time. If you want this achievement, you'll most certainly need to find the endangered Arena Community Servers.

Once you do, getting the first kill shouldn't take more than a few rounds. After getting the kill, however, you will need to react quickly - and kill as many enemies as you can. If needed, you'll may have to get First Blood multiple times before getting Part II completed.
Soldier Achievements
Ain't Got Time to Bleed
Kill 3 players with the Equalizer in a single life without being healed.

Recommended Set
* Rocket Jumper (highly beneficial)
* Shotgun / Reserve Shooter [Any Backpack Item in Degroot Keep]
* Equalizer (required)

Recommended Gamemodes
* Payload Race (Hightower)
* Medieval Mode

Strategy
As the Rocket Jumper does not require any damage to blast jump, you're best off using it to make up for the damage you'll likely take. Optimally, the enemy should be chipped with your Shotgun before rushing in to finish off with your melee.

Upper Hand / Bombs Away! / Death from Above
Kill 3 players during the same parachute deploy. / Kill 3 people with the Air Strike during a single rocket jump. / Rocket jump and kill 2 enemies before you land.

Recommended Set
* Air Strike (required for Bombs Away)
* B.A.S.E. Jumper (required for Upper Hand)
* Market Gardener [N/A]

Recommended Gamemodes
* Payload
* Payload Race (Hightower)

Strategy
When a horde of enemies focused on the cart - try to bomb them to the best of your ability. Keep in mind that the Air Strike has much less splash damage while airborne.

Additional Notes
While completing these achievements, you might as well also get Maximum Potential (getting four kills in a single life on the Air Strike) before attempting them.

Project Excelsior
Parachute 19.47 miles.

Recommended Set
* Air Strike [but any works]
* B.A.S.E. Jumper (required)
* Market Gardener

Recommended Map
* Highertower (tall Hightower)

Strategy
Frankly doing this achievement naturally will take a very, very long time. As most people don't use the B.A.S.E. Jumper for long, doing this one is generally not advised. If you don't care for the full legitimacy of achievements - find an Highertower Community Server, get to a very high point, and let yourself slowly fall down. You may have to do this multiple times, but this is your best bet to do this achievement without grinding hundreds, if not thousands on one weapon.
Pyro Achievements
Clearcutter / Lumberjack
Kill 6 / 3 people with your *melee* in one life.

Recommended Set
* Degreaser
* Scorch Shot / Flare Gun
* Back Scratcher / Axtinguisher

Recommended Gamemodes
* Control Points
* King of the Hill
* Medieval Mode / Degroot Keep

Strategy
You will want to play more conservative than your typical Pyro. Don't rush yourself to complete the achievement - take your time and be selective on your picks.

If you choose to run the Axtinguisher, you may want to pair it with the Flare Gun to maximize afterburn. Keep in mind, however, you will not be able to safely kill bulkier classes (such as Soldier and Heavy) due to the Axtinguisher's max damage being around 166 damage - closer to 150 with quick combos with the Flare Gun.

If you choose to run the Back Scratcher, an random crit can one shot everything minus Heavy and odd thresholds. However, don't rely on them too often, as it may result in yourself getting in bad positions.

Your best targets will likely be Spies, and maybe Snipers or Medics if you can ambush them safely.

Flip-Kabob
Ignite a player that is being flipped by someone using the Flippin' Awesome taunt.

Recommended Set
* Degreaser
* Detonator
* [N/A]

Recommended Gamemodes
* Capture the Flag
* Payload Race
* (Other situations where friendlies are relatively common)

Strategy A - The Intended Method
If you've ever tried to do this achievement naturally, you'll quickly realize this situation is very rare. Not many people will publicly do partner taunts in the middle of a game - let alone be at risk of being ignited.

If you cannot find someone who is doing this, you may end up just giving up, and relying on an friend to complete the achievement. Alternatively though...

Strategy B - Abusing Heavy's Slowness
This strategy will require owning the taunt. Some community servers may offer the ability to use taunts at any time via chat commands. Funnily enough, Heavy is special, in that he has by far the slowest animation when being flipped. His animation is so slow in fact that you can just ignite him before the animation concludes on his end. Just flip a Heavy with your flamethrower already active, and burn him the moment you can escape the animation.

Full Spectrum Warrior
Ignite (not kill) 3 enemy players using the Rainblower taunt.

Recommended Set
* Rainblower (required)
* Thermal Thruster
* Powerjack

Recommended Maps
* 2Fort
* Hightower
* (Any server with friendlies, because you're never going to do this intended)

Strategy
To be completely honest, you're never going to get this achievement without relying on friendly manipulation. Outside of being extremely lucky and getting behind a trio of clueless Snipers, there is no realistic situation where an enemy should not hear or see your taunt kill, let alone three.

Your best bet is starting a friendly circle near the enemy's spawn - get them all clumped together trying to do a partner taunt, and hope they'll just casually ignore what is about to happen.

To be fair, not many people are familiar with the taunt (as it's stuck on an Pyroland Reskin), but once they realize what's going on, you are probably going to be killed on subsequent attempts - requiring a new server.

Got A Light?
Ignite an enemy Spy while he's flicking a cigarette. (taunting with the Disguise Kit)

Recommended Maps
* (Any server with cooperative/friendly Spies)

Strategy
Similar to Full Spectrum, you'll probably want to rely on more casual players. After sparing the life of a Spy - just taunt a couple of times, as hope they eventually use the Disguise Kit. Once they taunt with it, you can set them on fire, and the achievement will count.

Additional Notes
* While probably inconsistent - I managed to do so by repetitively taunting with the Disguise Kit near spawn - eventually getting an enemy Spy to join me in the same act.
Demoman Achievements
Air Raid / Double Mauled Scotch
Kill 3 players during the same parachute deploy. / Kill 2 people in a single sticky jump.

Recommended Set
* B.A.S.E. Jumper (required)
* Stickybomb Launcher
* N/A

Recommended Maps
* Upward
* Badwater
* (Other maps with high skies or single objectives)

Strategy
Very similar to the Soldier achievements, but this time with Demoman. Comparably, he lacks any unlocks that benefit from long-term airtime, but at least gets more airtime. Get high up the skybox, rain Stickies on the cart or Control Point, and blow up everyone in sight.

Chain Reaction
Get 3 kills within 6 seconds using the Demoman charge.

Recommended Set
* Bootlegger
* Splendid Screen / Tide Turner
* Persian Persuader / Claidheamh Mòr / Ullapool Caber

Recommended Map
* Degroot Keep / Medieval Mode

Strategy A - Chains of Murder
The most straightforward idea is killing one target with two sword slashes, getting your charge back, and repeating the process. Of Demoknight's Swords, your best bet for Crit Kills is the Persian Persuader - as the ammo kits they drop on death will give you effectively a full charge. Alternatively, you can use the Claidheamh Mòr and Tide Turner for more control of your turns, at the cost of minicrit sword swings.

Strategy B - Single Explosive Finisher
While the intended method of the achievement expects the player to go for chains, you can also get multiple kills at once with the Ullapool Caber. Combine it with a Crit Shield, and given you can locate a group (or just play on Defense and explode them the moment the gate opens) - you'll get the achievement relatively quickly.

Operation High Dive
Parachute 19.47 miles.

Recommended Set
* B.A.S.E. Jumper (required)
* Stickybomb Launcher
* N/A

Recommended Map
* Highertower (tall Hightower modification)

Strategy
Same advice as the Soldier equivalent - high recommendation to just climb the top of the tower - jump off with the parachute - and repeat until you get the achievement. Feel free to grind it out, but you will not have fun when doing so.
Heavy Achievements
Permanent Revolution
Kill 5 enemies without spinning down your gun.

Recommended Set
* Tomislav
* Dalokohs Bar
* N/A

Recommended Maps
* (Any gamemode while playing on Defense)

Strategy
Relatively straightforward - rev your gun up, and play quite until someone shows up. If possible, try to stick near Medics or Dispensers to minimize risk of running out of ammo. The Dalokohs Bar will give 50 extra health on consumption for 30 seconds after the first bite.
Engineer Achievements
Building Block / Built to Last
Have a sentry shielded by the Wrangler absorb 500 damage without being destroyed. / Help a single building tank over 2000 damage without being destroyed.

Recommended Set
* Rescue Ranger
* Wrangler (required for Building Block)
* Jag / Eureka Effect

Recommended Maps
* (Any gamemode while playing on Defense)

Strategy
Keep your Sentry alive to the best of your abilities - and consider hauling it away from danger if it gets low on health. Keep in mind that an Level Three Sentry can tank about 648 damage before dying at full health.

(Not So) Lonely Are the Brave
Keep a Heavy healed with your dispenser while he gains five kills.

Recommended Set
* Rescue Ranger
* N/A
* Jag

Recommended Maps
* (Any gamemode while playing on Defense)

Strategy
Put your Dispenser in an aggressive position for your Heavy to rack up kills. If needed, convince your Heavy to stay with you for achievement sake.

Medic Achievements
First Do No Harm
Play a full round without killing any enemies, and score the highest on a team of 6 or more players.

Recommended Set
* Crusader's Crossbow / Overdose
* [Dependent on the Situation and Game State]
* Amputator

Recommended Maps
* Attack/Defense
* King of the Hill
* Payload

Strategy
While this sounds intimidating at first glance, the task isn't that bad if you know how to keep yourself alive, and know when to chase and hide. Given you don't attack the enemy team on accident, and keep up on your Medigun more than anything else, you should be able to be your team's MVP.

Sawbones
Hit enemies with your bonesaw 5 times in a row without dying or missing.

Recommended Melee
* Bonesaw / Solemn Vow

Recommended Map
* Degroot Keep / Medieval

Strategy
As Medic is tied for second fastest class in the game - you can generally escape most matchups in the primarily melee oriented gamemode. Keep in mind that swapping off your melee to your Crossbow will reset the progress.

Specialist / Intern
Accumulate 10000 / 7000 heal points in a single life.

Recommended Set
* Crusader's Crossbow
* Vaccinator
* Ubersaw

Recommended Maps
* Capture the Flag
* Payload (Defense)

Strategy
Due to the amount of time you'll need to heal for, you'll want to play with the most defensive Medigun, and play gamemodes that tend to last much longer than usual. Don't rush in too much, know when to swap resistances, and prioritize your survival over anything else.
Sniper Achievements
Prime Cuts
While using The Classic, gib all 9 classes during a single round.

Recommended Set
* Classic (required)
* Jarate
* Bushwacka

Recommended Maps
* Capture the Flag

Strategy
Finding a game with all nine classes may take awhile, and the only ways to get Gib Kills are through Critical Headshots or dealing excess-health damage through bodyshots. With how it will take, you'll want to play on gamemodes that stall out - such as Capture the Flag.
Spy Achievements
The Man from P.U.N.C.T.U.R.E.
Stab an enemy while fencing.

Recommended Set
* L'etranger
* Knife
* Cloak & Dagger
* N/A

Recommended Gamemodes and Positions
* Capture the Flag (Turbine Vents)
* (Any maps with close quarters sections with little movement variety)
* (Against clueless enemies)

Strategy
Find a position in which you predict an enemy to come from, and activate your knife taunt. Keep in mind that only the last swing will deal fatal damage, with the rest dealing 40 damage a piece.

You'll need to have the Sandman with the ball on cooldown -> Have another Scout throw the Sandman ball -> Pickup their Sandman ball -> Hit the Scout with the Ball for Slowdown
