THE THORNTON FAMILY
SARAH EMMA WAKEMAN (1842-1887) & JEB THORNTON (1839-1901)
[NOTES]I have concluded that Sarah Emma Wakeman and the Gray Lady are the same person, so I will be writing this section with that assumption in mind. Also, HerInteractive has provided clarification that the workers at the cotton factory were not slaves, addressing a topic that has sparked debate among fans.

Sarah Emma Wakeman, also known as the "Gray Lady," was born in 1842. During the American Civil War, from the ages of 19 to 21, Sarah served as a spy for the North. Her espionage activities were pivotal, providing crucial information and intelligence to Union forces. She employed a unique locket for transmitting secret codes, which was designed to destroy the message if opened incorrectly. Sarah's efforts significantly influenced the outcomes of battles.

Although she received generous compensation as well as the gift of Blackrock Island in recognition of her service, some saw her actions as traitorous to the Southern cause because she actively aided the North.

Sarah married Jeb Thornton and had three children:
  • Harriet Thornton (1863-1871) - died at the age of 7
  • Joseph Thornton (1865-1866) - died before reaching the age of 2
  • Hiriam Thornton (1867-1937)

Upon his arrival at Blackrock Island, Jeb Thornton oversaw the construction of Thornton Hall and established a modest cotton production factory on the island's shores. Within this industrial setting, Sarah assumed a pivotal role as a compassionate caregiver to the factory workers, who affectionately referred to her as "Nana." Her daily visits were marked by freshly baked bread and treats, and she generously opened the doors of Thornton Hall, providing a warm haven for any worker who fell ill and required a place to recover.

While the factory proved to be a lucrative enterprise, the workers were deprived of basic accommodations, forcing them to sleep on the factory's processing floor in inclement weather. To combat the biting cold during an especially harsh spell, they resorted to igniting indoor fires. Tragically, this desperate measure led to a catastrophic incident, resulting in the loss of all 54 workers due to the deadly accumulation of toxic fumes. The morning following the accident, Sarah was profoundly shaken by the horrifying sight of lifeless bodies within the factory.

In the wake of this devastating event, Sarah adamantly opposed the idea of re-staffing the factory, feeling an uneasy responsibility for the way the business was run and holding it accountable for the tragedy. Conversely, Jeb remained resolute in his determination to sustain and expand the family business, undeterred by the calamity. He took proactive steps to construct proper housing for employees, ensuring their shelter during adverse weather conditions, and promptly replaced the lost workforce to keep the business operational. Jeb viewed the deaths as a tragic accident that needed to be consigned to the past and remained steadfast in his commitment to the family legacy.

As a result of these divergent paths, Sarah distanced herself from both her family and the business. She sought refuge in the confines of her room, where she remained until her passing, which occurred several years later. An unsettling rumor persists regarding a handwritten note discovered in Sarah's pocket after her demise. The note contained an eerie message: "We have sown the black seeds of death, and forevermore will harvest only blood."

Sarah's epitaph reads: "May she find her voice once more."
HIRIAM THORNTON (1867-1937) & LEVENIA STRICKLAND (1869-1924)
Hiriam Thornton married Levenia Strickland and had three children.
  • Franklin Thornton (1895-1917) - died fighting in World War I at the age of 22
  • Beauregard Thornton (1896-1935)
  • Cornelia Thornton (1898-1971) - married Benjamin Newton (1898-1956) and had four children: Ruby, Levi, Ethel May, and Hughie. She died at the age of 73.

BEAUREGARD THORNTON (1896-1935) & EMELINE WRIGHT (1898-1925)
Beauregard Thornton married Emeline Wright and had two children.
  • Lee Thornton (1915-1975) - married Polly Emmons (1921-1992). He died at the age of 60.
  • Jackson Thornton (1917-1988)
JACKSON THORNTON (1917-1988) & WHITNEY RAINEY (1921-1952)
Jackson Thornton married Whitney Rainey and the couple had three daughters.
  • Virginia Thornton (1941-2011)
  • Rosalie Thornton (1943-1973)
  • Marianna Thornton (1945-1984)

In my opinion, Jackson was sexually abusing at least one of his daughters. I also believe that Jackson is Clara's father. This helps explain why Clara's mother was hesitant to reveal the identity of Clara's father as well as why Charlotte was digging up information about Jackson (from the notes found in the cellar).
VIRGINIA THORNTON (1941-2011) & LUTHER ATCHISON (1939-2006)
Virginia Thornton married Luther Atchison and the couple had one son: Wade Thornton.

No information is provided about Virginia, but her epitaph reads: "Gone never forgotten."

Luther Atchison had a short temper that often manifested through door-slamming when he was upset. Despite his occasional bursts of anger, Luther also had a gentle and kind side, displaying emotional sensitivity. However, when it came to handling business matters, Luther wasn't particularly skilled; his focus leaned more towards personal concerns and other interests. He heavily relied on his instincts and intuition rather than analytical or logical thinking.

Luther had a strong interest in communicating with spirits and would frequently take Wade to the cemetery at night. During these outings, Luther imparted a valuable lesson to Wade about the importance of being observant and attentive, emphasizing the importance of listening.

Luther's epitaph reads: "So it goes." This is a recurring phrase in Kurt Vonnegut's novel "Slaughterhouse-Five."
ROSALIE THORNTON (1943-1973)
Rosalie Thornton, Clara's mother, was a very secretive person. She didn't share much about her personal life with others, even her own daughter. One of the significant secrets that Rosalie kept was the identity of Clara's father. Rosalie never revealed who Clara's father was to her daughter or likely to anyone else.

During Rosalie's lifetime, she battled an illness. Clara distinctly remembers that her mother was unwell, and there is a suggestion that her illness may have contributed to her eventual passing.

Rosalie often shared a haunting belief with Clara during her childhood. She told Clara that after the Thornton family members passed away, their spirits would persist in the family estate, engaging in nightly balls with music and dancing. In Rosalie's view, these Thornton ghosts had a limited window of time to find peace. If they failed to do so, they would turn bitter and lose their humanity, eventually becoming part of the "hungry shadows," which were lost souls from a tragic incident in the estate's past. Rosalie's stories about these supernatural events regularly filled Clara with fear.

Rosalie's epitaph reads: "May she rest always at peace."
MARIANNA THORNTON (1945-1984) & ROGER DRUMMONDS (1943-1984)
Roger "Dodge" Thornton's life was defined by his ability to overcome adversity and discover his true voice in the most unexpected circumstances. From an early age, he grappled with a persistent stutter that threatened to limit his expression, rendering him a reserved child. However, beneath this struggle, he nurtured a profound love for language and learning.

As he matured into a bookish young man, his intelligence became evident, but he still struggled to find his place in the world. Everything changed during the spring of his freshman year when fate intervened in the form of a remarkable woman named Marianna. Their meeting marked a pivotal moment in Roger's life.

Marianna, a spirited and slightly rebellious member of the Thornton family, was renowned for her sharp wit and her role as the family's go-to problem solver during difficult times. She played a pivotal role in maintaining the family's stability.

In a heartfelt letter to a lifelong friend, Roger shared his transformation: "As a boy, I felt sorry for myself because I couldn't speak. Now I only feel sorry for those who cannot listen. Marianna knows how to listen, and she's taught me how to be heard." Marianna was equally captivated by Roger from the very beginning. In a playful gesture, Roger pledged to love her until he could pronounce her name without hesitation. In response, Marianna humorously dubbed herself "Marianna Karenina." This endearing nickname became a cherished symbol of their love, even in the face of disapproval from certain conservative members of the Thornton Clan.

The couple eventually married and had two daughters: Charlotte and Harper. Their lives took a tragic turn on a stormy winter night when Marianna embarked on a mission to secure a business deal for the Thornton family involving the acquisition of Madrigal Stock and Grain, a small agricultural company. Roger, as always, stood by her side. Tragically, during this fateful flight, disaster struck when the small prop plane they were in encountered an unexpectedly fierce storm, resulting in a crash that claimed the lives of everyone on board, including the two-person flight crew.
CHARLOTTE ANN THORNTON (1968-1989)
Charlotte Ann Thornton, born on October 30, 1968, was renowned for her captivating charisma and a natural talent for singing. Her voice was often likened to a guiding light in a sometimes confusing world. Charlotte held a deep affection for her family and a profound connection to their history. She often spent time in the family crypt to ensure that no one would be forgotten.

When Charlotte was 16 years old, a devastating plane crash claimed the lives of both her mother and father. In the aftermath of this tragic event, Charlotte not only inherited control of the Thornton family company but also assumed the role of caring for her 13-year-old sister, Harper.

As Charlotte approached her 21st birthday, she organized a masquerade ball to celebrate. However, on the day before the ball, she made a significant update to her will. Her original will had stated that her cousin Clara would inherit everything, but in this revised will, she excluded Clara from any inheritance. Instead, she designated Harper as the sole beneficiary of her estate.

Clara was fully aware of this change and reacted with intense anger. Before Charlotte could officially finalize and make her updated will public, Clara, driven by jealousy and the fear of losing her position in the family, deliberately started a fire by striking a match inside the building where Charlotte was getting ready. The fire quickly spread, ultimately resulting in Charlotte's death.

The untimely demise of Charlotte left a profound void in the lives of those who knew her, and her memory continued to shape the lives of her family members. It was rumored that her presence lingered in the form of a ghost, inspiring local legends and attracting curious individuals to Thornton Hall in the hopes of connecting with her spirit.

People in the area, particularly children, often speak of the ghostly presence of Charlotte and share stories about her haunting Thornton Hall. Some individuals claim to have had supernatural encounters with Charlotte's ghost. These encounters are often described as eerie and unsettling, with witnesses reporting seeing or feeling her presence around Thornton Hall, especially near the ruins. Charlotte's ghost has had a profound emotional impact on those who believe in her existence. Her presence, whether real or perceived, has instilled fear, fascination, and a sense of loss among those who have encountered her or heard her stories. The exact nature of her presence and whether she is a restless spirit seeking something is open to interpretation.

There is a recurring rhyme associated with Charlotte's ghost: "Fire so red, night so black, dear sweet Charlotte, please come back." It's often recited as part of a ritual to invoke her presence or to communicate with her spirit.
MODERN-DAY CHARACTERS
CLARA THORNTON
Clara Olivia Thornton was born in 1968 to Rosalie Thornton.

Tragically, Clara lost her mother when she was only 5 years old, and her mother never revealed the identity of her father. After her mother's passing, Clara moved in with her aunt Marianna, uncle Roger, and her two cousins, Charlotte and Harper.

In 1989, Clara became a mother when she gave birth to her daughter Jessalyn with Austin Neely.

On October 29, 1989, Charlotte made a significant change to her will. Her original will had stated that Clara would inherit everything. However, in this revised will, Charlotte removed Clara from any inheritance and designated Harper as the sole beneficiary of her estate.

Clara was fully aware of this change and reacted with intense anger. Before Charlotte could officially make her updated will public, Clara, motivated by jealousy and the fear of losing her position in the family, deliberately started a fire by striking a match inside the building where Charlotte was getting ready. The fire quickly spread, ultimately resulting in Charlotte's death. Because the revised will was never made public, Clara inherited the Thornton family company.

On the night of the fire, Harper was present and witnessed Clara lighting the match. Harper squarely held Clara responsible for Charlotte's death. Clara, a skilled manipulator and adept at gaslighting, successfully convinced the entire family that Harper was mentally unstable. She arranged for Harper to be sent to an asylum, effectively discrediting her and ensuring that nobody would give credence to her accusations. After her release from the asylum, Harper retaliated by pushing Clara from a widow's walk, causing an injury that required hospitalization.

Under Clara's leadership, the Thornton family processing plant engaged in unethical practices. These included hiring vulnerable workers and subjecting them to mistreatment, even to the extent of locking them in to meet production quotas. When confronted about these allegations, Clara vehemently denied them and became defensive. To confirm the rumors, Wade visited the plant at night and discovered the distressing truth. The exit was indeed padlocked, confirming the mistreatment of workers. Fueled by anger, Wade broke in and damaged one of the machines in protest against these unethical practices. Subsequently, Clara pressed charges against Wade, leading to his imprisonment.

Prior to dating Jessalyn, Colton had been in a relationship with a woman named Lexie. However, Lexie abruptly ended their relationship and disappeared from his life completely. Colton's parents and Clara played a role in Lexie's sudden departure and manipulated Colton's engagement to Jessalyn for their own selfish motives. Specifically, his parents were after a portion of the Thornton family wealth, while Clara aimed to capitalize on the Birchfield family's influence.

[NOTE] The final outcome for Wade depends on who you rescue at the end of the game.

If you successfully save everyone, Clara finally opens up to Jessalyn and admits the truth about what happened to Charlotte. According to Clara, her intention was never to kill Charlotte; instead, she meant to frighten her.
HARPER THORNTON
Harper Shelby Thornton, born in 1971, is the daughter of Roger Drummonds and Marianna Thornton and the younger sister of Charlotte Thornton.

At the age of 13, Harper tragically lost both her parents in a plane crash. This devastating event created a strong connection between Harper and her older sister, Charlotte. Harper looked up to Charlotte and saw her as the embodiment of perfection in the eyes of their family. She aspired to emulate her sister and be just like her.

However, the bond between the siblings was shattered on the night of Charlotte's 21st birthday. On that fateful night, a mysterious fire took Charlotte's life, leaving many unanswered questions about what had happened. This incident left a deep emotional scar on the Thornton family, and in the aftermath of the fire, Harper appeared to lose her sense of self.

During Charlotte's funeral, Harper erupted in a violent outburst. She was removed from the service by local police after causing damage and minor injuries. Witnesses remained tight-lipped about the incident. Daphne was eventually released without charges, with authorities acknowledging her frustration over her sister's death. However, despite Harper's claims, there was no substantial evidence to suggest foul play in Charlotte's demise, and the authorities had no plans for further investigation at that time.

Shortly thereafter, Harper ran away from home and remained missing for an extended period. When she finally returned, she appeared disheveled, emaciated, and offered no explanation for her absence. Her sudden reappearance had a profound impact on her family, especially her grandfather, who, as a constant reminder of the pain she had caused, erected a tombstone in her name.

The family's perception of Harper's mental state grew worse, and they had her committed to the Millicent P. Krauthammer Sanitarium for Criminally Insane Girls and Women of Good Social Standing. Harper was eventually discharged with a diploma stating that she was "no longer a danger to herself or others." Nevertheless, her experiences at the sanitarium left lasting emotional scars, and her relationship with her family remained strained.

Harper firmly believed that Clara played a role in Charlotte's death. Harper's conviction led to a disturbing incident where she pushed Clara off a widow's walk, causing Clara to be hospitalized due to her injuries. Harper took sadistic delight in tormenting Clara and found satisfaction in causing her emotional distress. At times, Harper's actions went beyond mere taunting, as she indulged in dramatic and darkly humorous behavior that bordered on cruelty.

Alongside Jessalyn, Harper posed as Charlotte, attempting to uncover whatever secrets Clara was keeping.

[NOTE] The final outcome for Harper depends on who you rescue at the end of the game.

If you successfully save everyone, Harper vanishes soon after the fire at Thornton Hall. After an extensive search, Wade and Jessalyn manage to locate her. They have to work hard to persuade Harper to rejoin the family. Because of years of manipulation by Clara, Harper is initially wary of the offer. However, she eventually agrees under the condition that she can completely demolish Thornton Hall. In its place, she wants to create a public park dedicated to honoring the memory of those who lost their lives on Blackrock Island. Jessalyn embraces this idea wholeheartedly, seeing it as the first meaningful step toward building a company and a family that will make Charlotte proud.
WADE THORNTON
Wade Thornton, born in 1973, is the son of Virginia Thornton and Luther Atchison. He is Jessalyn's older cousin and has come to Blackrock Island to assist in searching for her.

Wade is a man of intellectual depth and a profound interest in the supernatural. He conducts electronic voice phenomenon (EVP) recordings to capture supernatural occurrences, showcasing his dedication to proving the existence of ghosts. However, his fear of entering Thornton Hall, despite his fascination with the supernatural, underscores the eerie and unsettling atmosphere surrounding the house and its alleged hauntings. Wade is both mysterious and troubled, a man who carries emotional baggage and unresolved conflicts.

The death of Charlotte, Wade's cousin, had a profound impact on him. Charlotte held a special place in Wade's heart, and he is convinced that her spirit still haunts Thornton Hall. His unwavering belief in Charlotte's continued presence fuels his fascination with the supernatural.

Wade was once in a romantic relationship with the ghosthunter Savannah Woodham. They first met in a dusty, old bookstore, and their initial connection was founded on a shared interest in reading and research. However, their romance was fraught with unresolved issues and ultimately ended on sour terms, leading to a prolonged period of estrangement between them. Wade's mention of a desire to reconnect with Savannah and his request for her phone number hint at lingering feelings and a longing for closure in this complex chapter of his life.

Wade discovered that the Thornton family's processing plant was involved in unethical and exploitative practices. The plant employed workers who were financially unable to leave their jobs, and because of their economic vulnerability, they were subjected to exploitation. To meet production quotas, these workers were forcibly confined. Wade expressed both anger and worry regarding the mistreatment of these workers, indicating that it wasn't an isolated incident but rather a longstanding problem linked to the Thornton family's processing plant. Breaking into the plant to investigate, he vandalized one of the machines. Though Wade insists that he never harmed anyone, his actions were deemed unlawful. Wade ended up serving some time in jail but was eventually released.

Wade's relationship with his own family, particularly his cousin Clara, is marked by conflict. He accuses Clara of denying wrongdoing regarding the processing plant incident and firmly believes that the Thornton family bears the burden of a dark past.

[NOTE] The final outcome for Wade depends on who you rescue at the end of the game.

If you successfully save everyone, Savannah invites Wade to come and visit. Additionally, Jessalyn invites Wade to join the board of the family company and entrusts him with the responsibility of supervising the daily operations of the company's workforce.
JESSALYN THORNTON
In 1989, Jessalyn Thornton was born to Clara Thornton and Austin Neely.

Jessalyn was preparing to marry Colton Birchfield and had planned a bachelorette party at Thornton Hall to celebrate her upcoming wedding.

On the night Jessalyn arrived at Thornton Hall, Harper approached her secretly. Harper disclosed a shocking truth to Jessalyn: Clara was the one responsible for Charlotte's death. This revelation left Jessalyn both shocked and torn. Throughout Jessalyn's life, her mother Clara had consistently portrayed Harper as mentally unstable. However, in this critical moment, she chose to stay and listen to Harper's revelations because she had long believed her mother to be cold-hearted. Jessalyn began to suspect that Clara had exerted strict control over their family to prevent them from discovering the truth.

Together, Jessalyn and Harper devised a plan to fake Jessalyn's disappearance, with the aim of luring Clara to Thornton Hall. Charlotte had a locket and instructed Harper to open it if anything happened to her. When Charlotte died, Clara took the locket and always kept it with her, preventing anyone else from opening it. Harper and Jessalyn disguised themselves as Charlotte in an attempt to scare Clara and obtain the locket. Unfortunately, their plan did not succeed.

Thankfully, with Nancy's assistance, they eventually acquired the locket. They discovered that the day before her death, Charlotte had altered her will to exclude Clara from her inheritance. This revelation left Clara so furious that she took the drastic step of starting the fire that ultimately led to Charlotte's death.

[NOTE] The final outcome for Jessalyn depends on who you rescue at the end of the game.

If you successfully save everyone, Jessalyn takes charge of the family business and invites Wade to become a board member. Colton and Jessalyn are working on rebuilding their friendship, relieved that their engagement has ended. Harper agrees to rejoin the family, but with one condition: she wants Thornton Hall to be demolished and replaced with a public park dedicated to honoring the memory of those who died on Blackrock Island. Jessalyn fully embraces this idea, seeing it as a significant first step in creating a company and a family that would make Charlotte proud.
COLTON BIRCHFIELD
Colton Birchfield is engaged to Jessalyn Thornton. He is currently overwhelmed with anxiety and desperation because Jessalyn has disappeared. He is searching for her and is deeply concerned about her safety.

Colton's upbringing was marked by feelings of isolation and a constant struggle to find happiness. He reveals that happiness has always been elusive for him, and he even sought help from a childhood psychiatrist due to emotional and psychological challenges. As an adult, he acknowledges that his mind tends to veer into a "dark place" during challenging or stressful times, making it difficult for him to maintain his mental well-being.

Colton and Jessalyn first crossed paths in an unusual way during their childhood. He humorously recounts that he first saw her and thought, "This is the girl I'm going to marry," but then threw a rock at her face, which left a small scar. They eventually became best friends and later entered into a romantic relationship.

Before Jessalyn, Colton had a significant relationship with a woman named Lexie, and he openly confesses his love for her, even though he is engaged to Jessalyn. His relationship with Jessalyn seems to have been heavily influenced by external factors, particularly the desires of his family. Colton hints at a strained relationship with his family, particularly his parents and Clara, who seemed to push him and Jessalyn together, likely due to the Thornton family's wealth and influence. Colton wishes his parents would prioritize his approval instead of manipulating him based on their expectations and desires.

Colton also shares that he was at Thornton Hall when the fire claimed Charlotte Thornton's life, albeit as a young child. He expresses regret that he couldn't do more to help Charlotte that night and strongly suggests that he believes the fire was not an accident. Furthermore, Colton received a code from Charlotte on the night of the fire, indicating that she trusted him with important information before her untimely death.

[NOTE] The final outcome for Colton depends on who you rescue at the end of the game.

If you successfully save everyone, Colton and Jessalyn call off their engagement. They are in the process of repairing their friendship. Colton now confronts the challenge of addressing his issues with his parents and his relationship with Lexie, but he appears resolute in pursuing things according to his own terms.
SAVANNAH WOODHAM
[NOTE] This is Savannah's second appearance in a Nancy Drew game. Her first appearance was in Shadow at the Water's Edge.

Savannah Woodham was born and raised in the historic city of Savannah, Georgia. She had a close relationship with her father and spent her childhood assisting him in the renovation and exploration of spooky old houses. What began as fear gradually transformed into a fascination with the supernatural.

Savannah recounts a childhood memory that marked her first encounter with the spirit world. In her room, she uncovered a hidden area behind the wallpaper, revealing a stunning old wooden panel. The ethereal presence of a young girl led Savannah to repeatedly trace a willow tree on the wooden surface, gradually causing faint indentations to appear. Strangely enough, several months later, Savannah stumbled upon the very same willow tree in reality. It was during a powerful storm that the remains of a young girl were unearthed beneath the tree. This eerie discovery compelled Savannah to recognize the importance of embracing her unique abilities, despite the considerable personal toll it would exact.

One of the most defining moments in Savannah's life revolved around her deep connection with Thornton Hall. Her fascination with the place was akin to a moth being irresistibly drawn to a flame. This intense interest drove her to immerse herself in extensive research on the Thornton family's past, ultimately leading to her meeting Wade Thornton and the start of their romantic relationship.

Savannah's decision to visit the ruins at Thornton Hall on the anniversary of Charlotte's death was a bold choice, driven by her insatiable curiosity about the paranormal and her strong desire to connect with spirits. Armed with knowledge and determination, she entered the ruins and patiently waited in the hopes of contacting the restless spirit of Charlotte Thornton. During her vigil, Savannah felt an unsettling atmosphere, as if the very air around her was charged with supernatural energy. After what seemed like an endless wait, Charlotte's spirit finally revealed itself to her, standing beside her. This encounter was an intense and unsettling experience, as Savannah and Charlotte briefly locked eyes, bridging the gap between the living and the dead.

Charlotte reached out and grasped Savannah's wrist, leading her on a surreal and disconcerting journey through time. Savannah found herself transported back to the night of Charlotte's death, experiencing it as if she had been pulled into the past. She couldn't see the events, but she could intensely feel them – the heat, the profound sadness, and the seething anger that permeated the air. It was a deeply emotional and distressing experience for Savannah, forcing her to relive the trauma of Charlotte's final moments.

Following this intense encounter, Savannah was left emotionally shaken and haunted by the experience. She carried the weight of Charlotte's story with her, a burden that would profoundly influence her future investigations and her understanding of the supernatural. Savannah authored a book titled "The Ghost of Thornton Hall: True Encounters Retold," which is a compilation of firsthand accounts featuring encounters with the ghost of Charlotte.

Ultimately, Nancy Drew discovers the truth behind Charlotte's death. This discovery prompts Savannah to extend an invitation to Wade, potentially paving the way for a renewed beginning in their romantic relationship.
ADDISON HAMMOND
Addison Hammond is not only Jessalyn's best friend but also her maid of honor for the upcoming wedding. Jessalyn organized a bachelorette party at Thornton Hall, featuring a unique paranormal-themed scavenger hunt. Despite her initial hesitation, Addison eventually decided to join in the festivities. However, as the night unfolded, an unsettling turn of events occurred—Jessalyn mysteriously disappeared.

Addison is known for her witty humor and playful banter with Jessalyn, often using sarcasm and clever comebacks. Her humor serves as a coping mechanism, especially in tense or scary situations.

Despite her confident and humorous exterior, Addison reveals moments of vulnerability and fear. She admits to being afraid of spiders and feeling uncomfortable when alone in Thornton Hall. These moments of vulnerability become more pronounced as she recounts her experiences during the night, including a feeling of paralysis and hearing an eerie voice. These encounters suggest that Addison may be more susceptible to paranormal phenomena than she initially thought.

Addison also appears protective of Jessalyn, expressing concern for her well-being during the bachelorette party. Her worry intensifies when Jessalyn goes missing, and she becomes emotionally distraught when Jessalyn refuses to communicate with her.

Addison initially presents herself as a skeptic regarding the paranormal. However, her experiences at Thornton Hall challenge her beliefs, making her more open to the possibility of supernatural occurrences. She becomes a witness to unexplained phenomena, such as hearing Charlotte's voice, which shakes her skepticism.

Despite her fear, Addison maintains her curiosity and determination to find Jessalyn and unravel the mystery surrounding her disappearance. She collaborates with Nancy Drew and provides valuable information to aid in the search for her missing friend.

Addison and Jessalyn's friendship is depicted as close and enduring, characterized by playful teasing and occasional disagreements. However, their bond is solidified through shared experiences and the challenges they face together.
