Caralan Cruiser

"Among the most heavily armed of the APFs pre-militarization ships the Caralan class cruiser was intended to serve as the APFs front line capital ship in case of the outbreak of war. This is reflected in its unusually heavy armament for an APF ship with a total of 6 Artillery turrets, 8 assault turrets, 4 gatlings, and 12 interior turrets. This well rounded armament allows the Caralan to serve as both a ship to ship brawler and provide point defense for itself and a fleet. However the Caralan lacks the same level of armor as its counterparts in other navies meaning it can take far fewer hits before going down. This issue is only further exaggerated by its lack of CIC, relying entirely on its exposed bridge for operation. Despite its flaws and low production run the Caralan would be successful in the early days of the RBNs invasion being able to go toe to toe with most RBN vessels below the Kulanata class cruisers and come out on top. Sadly being a pre militarization act ship only a handful of Caralans were ever produced and most would eventually be destroyed as they fell victim to the superior Kulanata class cruisers. Alongside their above average armament the Caralans also boasted rather luxurious crew quarters for their time as well as a forward ramp to allow exiting and boarding within planets while not at a dedicated dock. The Caralan was also one of the first APF ships to be equipped with its own standard jump drive and would later inspire new larger and more powerful cruisers to bolster the APFs defensive fleet during the war."
