I: Overview
Continuing on after some weird errors, we have Purna, the Leader, and the main gunner of the group. Focusing on guns and providing for her team, Purna can be a bit of a hassle to handle on her own. And this is because:

+ Over-reliance on guns. All of the characters in Dead Island prefer a certain type of a weapon, and Purna focuses on guns. Guns are decent, but they do really fall behind to blade and blunt. You cannot headshot zombies in this game (They do take more damage, but not really enough, and good luck trying to land headshots with the shotgun against the swaying zombies) but guns have quite a few issues, namely...

+ Serious resource management issues. You need Bleach and Scrap Metal (2 of them) to make ammo, plus you need to find the blueprints for them. The Pistol and Shotgun Ammo Blueprint is located in the Police Station, but the Assault Rifle is located in an optional area in the Jungle. You get to the Police Station a little over the halfway point of the story, so it is a bit. You need to put a lot of money into that and hopefully have a workbench nearby to craft it, which leads to...

+ Money management issues. Purna has exactly one skill when it comes down to money; discounting repairs. Really handy, except guns never need repairs. Sam B can find more money and increase how much he finds, Xian gets a discount on dying and vendors, and Logan has one like Purna, specifically discounts on upgrading weapons, but seeing how upgrades are hella expensive and repairing is very cheap, Purna needs to spend a lot of money on upgrades, ammo, and crafting.

+ Skill issue. Had to go for the obvious joke. Because Purna has plenty of skills relating to guns, she realistically cannot pick them up until she hits the City. (There are two guns you can get in the Resort; one hidden somewhere, check out Lambert's guide, and one for completing a sidequest...but no ammo unless you hit up the arena) So if you focus on using and improving her secondary weapon of blades, you might be stuck with them a lot longer.

+ Wonky Fury. Her Fury produces a revolver (Behold, the one GOOD revolver in the game) but she cannot attack unless there's a zombie within range. This means that if they're too far away, she will refuse to fire. She does have aim-bot, but I have had a few issues of her trying to target enemies through solid object and outright missing. (Suiciders seem to not take any damage if you fire at them for some reason) It is practically impossible for her to get a x4 outside of a weird thing that I will bring up in the Required section.

+ Raw prawn. Not really a downside, but you might get real tired of her being Australian. And she will remind you a lot.

She is designed to work around teammates, so if you got some buddies (Unlike me!) Purna can work her real magic. You can play solo, but once you get to the City, you're going to enjoy dying a lot.
II: Required Skills
Time for a reminder! If you want to move down to the latter tiers, you have to put 3 points into the tier you're currently on (Or 1 if there's only one skill). For example: In the Combat Skill Tree, the Tier 3 are Gender Wars, Maintenance, and Kick of Strength. To go down to get Firearms Training, you need to put 3 points into Gender Wars, Maintenance, and/or Kick of Strength. Any mix will do. Putting points into the Tier 2 skills (Vampire, Hard Knocks, and/or Randori) will not unlock Firearms Training for purchase.

So let's talk about the Required Skills, the Tiers that have one skill to them.

Guardian/Guardian Spirit/Guardian Angel
Your Fury! As mentioned above, this one gives you Aimbot but will only fire if there's a target within range. It does grant all of your allies some benefits, most importantly restoring HP and stamina. That applies to you too. If playing solo, use this to keep you alive!

I need to bring up a weird glitch that can occur when using Fury. Sometimes, seemingly without reason, Purna can become locked into her Fury. I don't know what exactly can cause it, but it's amazing when it does. Sadly, when you're in Fury, you cannot pick up money/items/weapons, but might as well go on a tear and kill everything in sight! It ends if you transition to a different map or go to some safe spot, like the Church. You'll get all the Experience, and with that x4 mutipler...I once got 4 levels out of it!

Blade Fighter/Firearms Training/Gun Kata
The first of these guides to have a character that can use two weapons: blades and guns. This doesn't give the biggest damage upgrades around, but she can do more than Sam B. Just keep in mind that the gun skills don't improve damage with guns. Just reload speed, critical hit chance, accuracy and recoil reduction.

Boost Mood/Ambience/Aura
This affects you too. Damage and durability are good, even if you're maining guns. And even if your're maining guns, you still want to have some melee weapons on you.

III: Don't Bother Skills
These are best ignored and left to die on the island. Their names are all synonymous with 'Dead Meat'.

Attack Formation

Why? You already 1-2 shot most zombies, and using Fury to take care of ONE special monster ain't worth it. Skip!

Fiery Spirit
Cool effect! But I would rather just shoot the zombies.

Kick of Strength
Chances are that unless you're really close to killing it, you'll end up spending more stamina to kill it with kicks than what you get back. Besides, you have a skill that gives you more Fury when you kill with Modified Weapons, so this isn't worth it. (Even if you are focusing on guns, you're going to be using kicks to knock down zombies rather than killing)

Elemental Affinity
Duration, not damage. Most zombies die if the elemental effects kick in, or, if you're in flight mode, you can easily escape the zombie frying or vomiting. The special monsters tend to die pretty quickly too if the effect kicks in.

Recovery
Thought about it, and I realized...you don't get interrupted that often. And they cannot stop you from using guns to shoot them...

Second Chance
Dying just makes me moist...over the much better skills in the tier.
IV: Situational And/Or Semi-Useful Skills
Buyer beware!

Inspiring Kick
Unlike the other one, this one does have some use. It does give a huge amount of Rage, and it could be worth it to keep on kicking. As long as you got a good supply of stamina on you at the moment though.

Hard Knocks
Little Orphan Purna! It's just a melee damage thing, next to Vampire.

Executor
Yes, it's still 1%. But it's 1% for each shot. Assault Rifles and Pistols fire a lot of bullets...but it's still a teeny-tiny chance.

Rapid Fire
Only if you get a good shotgun. Otherwise skip; pistols and assault rifles reload quickly enough.

Piercing Shots
Alright you maggot-infested maggots, form a single line! Come on. Please? Pretty please?

Deeper Pockets
Yup, yup, same as always...wait, was there something that goes with this?

Glory Hound
This is a decent skill to get, but only if you rush to it as soon as possible. (Level 6 is the earliest) Keep in mind that the level cap is 60 here, 70 in Riptide. It can help you level faster, but once you reach the end, this becomes useless. Only reason I got this is to make this guide.

Providence
Good, but not as good as the other one in your tier.
V: The Best Skills
Git gud, or get git gud by getting these!

Grim Inspiration/Righteous Fire
Modified Firearms will give you 60% rage. Why aren't you getting this?

Volatile
Oh yeah, it's all coming together.

Vampire
It outright has 'nice' in the description.

Randori
I can get more stamina than I started with? Sweet deal!

Gender Wars
Not a big damage boost, but most enemies are male. Ergo, you do more damage to most enemies. And no, aiming for the crotch does nothing. Sorry Purna.

Maintenance/Optimal Maintenance/Custom Maintenance
As much as Purna wants to shoot things, you don't have the ammo to really keep fighting forever. You need to go melee at some point. Might as well keep your weapons maintained. And seeing how as Bladed weapons have low durability, this does help her out a big deal.

Cold Rage
Get one kill, turn it into two. Kill two, then it becomes four. Better option than the other two in the same tier.

Wunderwaffe
There are many things that I would like to say to you...guys. This does actually boost gun damage, so how come the major ones don't? Weird.

Picklock/Jackpot
Oh, there's Picklock! And the reason as to why it's here and not in its usual place of Semi-useful is because you want better weapons and Purna can give herself a better chance of finding the higher rarities with Jackpot...even if it ends up being mostly whites.

Conditioning
You can run longer. Fight longer. You can f@#% longer, but that's not in the game.

Recycler/Rain of Bullets
More bullets, less problems! You will still need to hunt down vendors for Bleach and Scrap Metal (Oh, and the workbenches) but carrying and earning more bullets allows for easier gunplay.
VI: General Tips
+ Loot EVERYTHING. You need all money and materials you can get.

+ Use Fury whenever you see multiple enemies. Purna isn't really the best at fighting groups, so clear them out and get that multiplier as high as possible. Otherwise, Deo-Bombs/Moltov groups.

+ Because guns are massively rare (And human enemies only drop whites), you can go through the entire game with the greens you get some certain quests. (Pistol: Second Head of Cerberus) (Shotgun: Wet Job) (Assault Rifle: Chasing Shadows). They are expensive to upgrade, but worth it. Good luck on finding higher rarity guns!

+ You need some melee weapons. Focus on getting blues and higher. Modified blades can be thrown to deal massive damage to Thugs and Rams. Don't waste ammo trying to kill them!

+ Stock up on Scrap Metal and Bleach. Make all of the ammo you will ever need, and more.

+ Keep a good supply of Med-kits on you.

In my SEVERAL playthroughs I've learnt that Purna is basically OP if you don't let yourself get surrounded by mobs, be cautious and you'll be fine.
"Inspiring Kick" is a HUGE advantage, as it triggers with stomps and they give you a massive boost. But NEVER EVER just kick. My combo for most cases is: jump kick, stomp. If you're fighting a group, kick the ones standing up or hit them with blunt, then stomp one, and so on...
Nevertheless, good guide and thanks!

Personally, I've come to quickly learn that Purna is basically summarized in one familiar phrase:

Rip and tear, UNTIL IT IS DONE!

Early into the game, Bladed weapons are your BFFs, so you basically want to pretend like as if Purna is a wannabe Doom Slayer; especially considering her Fury ability is basically "Aimbot Instakill" against anything that's not a certain Act II undead that charges you like a mad bull while wearing nothing but a padded straightjacket.

I wish I was kidding, though. Only time I've had trouble so far in my ongoing playthrough is the Quarantine with those seemingly infinite supply of sprinters.
