9 - Vision Of The Absolute (Uncommon Spear)
  • Components: Shaft Of A Broken Spear (Edowin, Druid Grove) + Head Of A Broken Spear (Owlbear Mother, Owlbear Cave)
  • Stats: 1d6 Piercing (1H), 1d8 Piercing (2H), Versatile, Thrown
  • Extra: Rush Attack (Action), Absolute Night
The elusive Absolute established themselves as quite a threat in the early parts of Baldur’s Gate 3, with the Vision of the Absolute seemingly able to reflect this theme. However, this Spear’s components also demonstrate the game’s crafting system early in the playthrough. The relative distance of the “Of A Broken Spear” components makes it easy for players to acquire this weapon.
On top of incentivizing charged melee attacks via Rush Attack, dealing extra 2d6 Piercing against enemies with multiple sets of eyes (Absolute Night) makes this weapon rather useful only in specific situations. However, considering how players can fight at least two Spectators (Beholder assistants) in Act One, perhaps a multi-attacking Monk or Rogue sporting this weapon could make quick work of the miniboss.
8 - Adamantine Mace (Rare Mace)
  • Components: Mace Mould + Mithral Ore + Adamantine Forge (Grymforge, Underdark)
  • Stats: 1d6+1 Bludgeoning
  • Extra: Weapon Enhancement +1, Concussive Smash (Action), Diamondsbane, Lethal Weapon
In a player’s Baldur’s Gate 3 playthrough, completing the Adamantine Forge with a Mace Mould can give players access to the Adamantine Mace, a weapon with a fearsome bluish hue. This take on Mithril is reminiscent of its first popularized appearance in fiction via The Lord of the Rings.
The weapon lands auto-crits on objects (Diamondsbane) while ignoring Bludgeoning Resistance (Lethal Weapon), making it effective against tougher foes. However, the lack of other advantages such as extra Actions make this rather impractical as a long-term weapon, especially when the weaker Sussur weapons can Silence on hit.
7 - Sussur Sickle (Rare Sickle)
  • Components: Highcliff’s Journal (Blighted Village) + Any Sickle + Sussur Bark (Underdark) + Blacksmith’s Forge (Blighted Village)
  • Stats: 1d4 +1 Slashing, Light
  • Extra: Weapon Enhancement +1, Lacerate (Action), Silence on Hit
Becoming an emissary of death can be quite the power fantasy in Baldur’s Gate 3 gameplay, especially considering the existence of evil-aligned abilities and gear for characters to use. Such a thematic weapon befitting this flavor is the Sussur Sickle, the closest thing players have to a scythe with a visually dreadful aesthetic.
However, acquiring this item throughout the “Finish the Masterwork Weapon” comes with a helpful main effect: Silencing enemies on hit. When used as an Off-Hand weapon, players have an almost surefire way of Silencing an irritating spellcaster with a Bonus Action Attack.
6 - Sussur Dagger (Rare Dagger)
  • Components: Highcliff’s Journal (Blighted Village) + Any Dagger+ Sussur Bark (Underdark) + Blacksmith’s Forge (Blighted Village)
  • Stats: 1d4 Piercing, Light, Finesse, Dippable
  • Extra: Weapon Enhancement +1, Piercing Strike (Action), Silence on Hit
Considering how magic can transform a weak opponent into a powerhouse, eliminating them quickly should be the priority of a Rogue in Baldur’s Gate 3 with their nifty Sneak Attack. However, in situations when an attack can’t bring down a spellcaster, the Sussur Dagger can still provide combat benefits by Silencing a target on hit.
The Sussur Dagger makes for a decent lower-level addition to any character who needs an almost guaranteed way to Silence a threat without wasting Spell Slots on the spell of the same name. Although the weapon only deals a minuscule 1d4 Piercing damage, a nifty Silence as a Bonus Action Attack can make its wielder a threat to foes.
5 - Adamantine Scimitar (Rare Scimitar)
  • Components: Scimitar Mould + Mithral Ore + Adamantine Forge (Grymforge, Underdark)
  • Stats: 1d6+1 Slashing, Light, Finesse
  • Extra: Weapon Enhancement +1, Flourish (Action), Lacerate (Action), Diamondsbane, Lethal Weapon
The Scimitar is one of the more unique-looking weapons in the Forgotten Realms, especially when D&D lore states it was heavily used by the Drow before being popularized aboveground. This origin story makes the Adamantine Scimitar a worthwhile acquisition during a player’s stay in the Underdark in Act 1.
Getting this weapon gives players access to Flourish and Lacerate, Actions already associated with traditional Scimitars. However, the weapon also boasts other benefits of its Adamantine brethren, such as auto-crits on objects (Diamondsbane) and ignoring Slashing Resistance (Lethal Weapon). Despite its origins, however, the weapon is perhaps best used as an offhand weapon instead of a Main Hand.
4 - Adamantine Longsword (Rare Longsword)
  • Components: Longsword Mould + Mithral Ore + Adamantine Forge (Grymforge, Underdark)
  • Stats: 1d8+1 Slashing (1H), 1d10+1 Slashing (2H), Versatile
  • Extra: Weapon Enhancement +1, Pommel Strike (Action), Lacerate (Action), Rush Attack (Action), Diamondsbane, Lethal Weapon
Among the most practical creations that players can craft in the Adamantine Forge in Baldur’s Gate 3 would be the Adamantine Longsword. Its base stats make it quite a decent melee weapon. Being able to auto-crit objects (Diamondsbane) and bypass Slashing Resistance (Lethal Weapon) can make the Adamantine Longsword a dangerous armament against tougher foes.
However, compared to the Sussur weapons that grant Silence on hit, the aforementioned properties of the Adamantine Longsword don’t make it a feasible Main Hand weapon. A specialist in Two-Handed Combat could potentially make use of the Adamantine Longsword as an Off-Hander due to its Resistance bypass.
3 - Sussur Greatsword (Rare Greatsword)
  • Components: Highcliff’s Journal (Blighted Village) + Any Greatsword+ Sussur Bark (Underdark) + Blacksmith’s Forge (Blighted Village)
  • Stats: 2d6+1 Slashing, Two-Handed
  • Extra: Weapon Enhancement +1, Pommel Strike (Action), Lacerate (Action), Cleave (Action), Silence on Hit
Following the trends of other Sussur-based weapons in Baldur’s Gate 3, the Sussur Greatsword also has an innate Silence on hit ability that makes this quite the threat against powerful spellcasters. While an anti-mage weapon is usually compatible with speedy Rogues and Monks, the Sussur Greatsword can make for a decent armament when held by a tank.
Although other D&D Greatswords have more dynamic effects, players who prefer disabling magic users over fancy attacks wouldn’t go wrong with the Sussur Greatsword. The sheer practicality of this Rare Greatsword can make this an all-around option for both tanks and heavy melee attackers, especially when fighting spellswords who can also cast spells while attacking in the frontlines.
2 - Mourning Frost (Very Rare Staff)
  • Components: Icy Crystal (Filro the Forgotten, Sussur Tree, Underdark) + Icy Metal (Drow Body, Myconid Colony, Underdark) + Icy Helve (Dhourn, Underdark Fort)
  • Stats: 1d6+1 Bludgeoning (1H), 1d8+1 Bludgeoning (2H), Versatile
  • Extra: Weapon Enhancement +1, Topple (Action), Ray of Frost (Cantrip), Heart of Ice, Insidious Cold
In tactical RPGs such as Baldur’s Gate 3 that facilitate heavy environmental interaction, a Staff like Mourning Frost emphasizes the potential of Cold Damage to debilitate opponents. When wielded, the Staff acts as a +1 Magic Weapon on top of giving free access to the Ray of Frost Cantrip.
Getting Ray of Frost is one of the unique instances of a Cantrip other than Fire Bolt being accessible via a weapon, adding variety to a character’s arsenal. The Staff also deals +1 Cold Damage whenever the wielder attacks with Cold Damage (Heart of Ice). Moreover, dealing Cold Damage with the staff has a chance to make enemies Chilled (Insidious Cold), granting them Resistance to Fire Damage but also causing double the punishment due to Vulnerability to Cold Damage.
1 - Hellfire Engine Crossbow (Very Rare Heavy Crossbow)
  • Components: Targeting Module (Steelwatch Foundry) + Steel Watcher Arm (Steelwatch Foundry) + Watcher Crossbow Blueprint (Steelwatch Foundry)
  • Stats: 1d10+2 Piercing, Two-Handed
  • Extra: Weapon Ehcnamtnet +2, Lightning Arrow (Spell), Piercing Shot (Action), Brace (Action), Reposition Malefactor (Action)
Compared to other Crossbows in Baldur’s Gate 3, the Hellfire Engine Crossbow has a marvelous design based on a sculpted eagle and the flames of Avernus. When equipped, the weapon gives players access to traditional Heavy Crossbow moves such as Piercing Shot and Brace.
The Heavy Crossbow grants players access to Lightning Arrow, a 3rd-Level Transmutation Spell that can deal 4d8 + 2d8 Lightning Damage to a single opponent. Moreover, it possesses Reposition Malefactor, an Action that forces a DEX Save on an opponent to resist moving 9 meters closer to the player.

...It never dawned on me to try double clicking the owlbear spear shards to see if they did anything. It makes sense in retrospect. Maybe I missed a tutorial prompt somewhere. :zagsnooze:

Doesn't Vision of The Absolute also have a chance to blind on a hit?
