Linux - How to get FOV Changer to run with Proton
By Crimetavious CrimeR III.
This is a guide intended to show how to run multiple "programs", in this case the game and simultaneously the FOV changer, in steam under the Proton environment.

It being a bit of a beach in the rear to figure out, I thought I'd leave this in form of a guide for future reference and your, Fren, and my convenience.

Download HomefrontFOV.exe from here: https://community.pcgamingwiki.com/files/file/487-homefront-fov-changer/

Put this in your game's <root folder>/Binaries (optionally put it wherever the heck you want, just adjust the path in the .bat)

Create a Batch file (extension .bat) in that folder, call it FJB.BAT or whatever:

@echo off start Z:\games\hdd\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\HOMEFRONT\Binaries\HOMEFRONT.exe -nostartupmovies start Z:\games\hdd\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\HOMEFRONT\Binaries\HomefrontFOV.exe exit

Adjust your paths accordingly.

Put this into your Launch Options under Preferences:

'/home/<username>/.local/share/Steam/compatibilitytools.d/proton-ge-custom/proton' waitforexitandrun '/games/hdd/SteamLibrary/steamapps/common/HOMEFRONT/Binaries/<yourbatch>.BAT' ; echo %command%

With quotation marks.

I am using Proton-GE with this game so again you need to change it to whatever Proton version you are using. Meaning this part:

'/home/<username>/.local/share/Steam/compatibilitytools.d/proton-ge-custom/proton'

Replace it with for example this:

'/<path to where you store Proton>/SteamLibrary/steamapps/common/Proton <version>/proton'

Same goes for the path to the Batch file.

What this does is start your game and subsequently HomefrontFOV.exe. So you're going to have to TAB out to your desktop and adjust your settings in that program, then TAB back into the game. I've found 90 degrees is around the equivalent of FOV 69 Vert or 101.4 Hor (actually 89.3 but whatever, looks alright to me on a 16:9 monitor). Check out this website for more info:

https://www.mouse-sensitivity.com/

They have FOV info, as well.

Hope this helped. Enjoy wasting commies without puking all over your fancy 120 bucks "gamer" keyboard.
