MAIN OVERVIEW
Overall, Gunbrella is pretty simple in terms of it's achievements but there are some things to note.

Expect to do multiple playthroughs.
This game requires at minimum, 1 full playthrough, and 2 playthoughs to around the half-way point in order to bag all the achievements, this may sound daunting, but at most this will probably take the average player 12-15 hours to 100%

Difficulty DOES NOT Matter (for achievements)
There are no achievements or endings associated with difficulty so there's no need to worry about that. For those curious what I've found is that the difficulty you choose does NOT change how much damage is dealt to you, but how much damage the player does to enemies.

Game Progression and Saving
As you go through the game, it will save automatically at multiple points especially after large story beats, keep this in mind since if you miss something, your more often than not, gonna have to start another play-through.

The Achievement List
Each Achievement will have it's steps listed below it. Please go to each achievement to find the info your looking for.

SPOILER WARNING
This should probably go without saying but I will be spoiling major plot moments in order to explain certain achievements... You have been warned!

With all that being said please enjoy my guide!
STORY RELATED (UNMISSABLE ACHIEVEMENTS)
This Section is dedicated to achievements that you simply cannot miss if you beat the game and are pretty self explanatory. (Written in order that is awarded)

This achievement is awarded once you kill the "Baby" Boss at the end of the Cult-45 Hideout section.
Aim for the eye! it does the most damage and stuns the boss often!

This achievement is awarded a bit further down the line, once you speak to the fisherman about the gunbrella at the fishing hole, you'll be attacked by Cult-45 and have to fight off the "Nephew" once beaten you'll be awarded the achievement.

This achievement is awarded at the end of the Junkyard section once you kill the giant rat, whether or not you fight, kill, or save Dreg you'll have to fight and defeat the giant rat either-way.

This achievement is awarded once you kill the tentacle monster at the end of the Crude Mines.
The crude mines I would consider the half-way point of the game.

This is achievement is awarded once you defeat the Hole Puncher at the end of the processing plant.

This achievement is awarded at the very end of the game once you defeat the Monster version of Max, this is awarded whether or not you survive the fight or not (this is detailed in another section) all you need to know here is that it's the de-facto "beat the game" achievement.

This concludes all the achievements that you will acquire no matter what you do in the game.

STORY AND SIDE STORY ACHIEVEMENTS (MISSABLE)
This section will cover achievements that you can easily miss if you don't do certain things in the game that relate to the story and certain story beats, (think NPC dialog options and side-quests). There are more than what I cover in this section, these are just the easy ones to explain.

This achievement involves Adelaide, the author that you first meet in Orwell at the roadblock.
Make sure you exhaust her dialog in the Three places you can meet her:
The roadblock at Orwell,
Her home in Allendale, and
On the second floor of the Speakeasy.

Once you speak with her at the speakeasy she'll ask if your spoken for to which Murray (that's you) will reply automatically, probably telling her about his wife's murder. After completing this dialog the achievement should pop. I should note that I'm not sure whether or not you have to exhaust her dialog in all of these places, but I would do it just to be safe.

This achievement involves Dreg, the rough and tumble Club wielding scrapper that you meet among the scrappers when first entering the Junkyard.

In order to get this achievement you MUST tell Dreg that you "snuck in..." when he asks you how you got into the Junkyard. If you tell him Brad let you in he won't fight you and you won't be able to get this achievement. Once you defeat him in battle he will yell at you to finish him off, DON'T DO IT, instead wait a couple seconds and the door will open allowing you to progress. Once you defeat the boss of this area the achievement should pop as Dreg will jump in and help you fight it
PLEASE NOTE: Doing this Achievement will lock you out of doing the "Snitch" achievement, and, since the game saves automatically, you will have to start another play-through in order to do the snitch achievement.

This achievement involves Dreg once again. When he asks you how you got into the Junkyard you MUST reply "Brad let me in..." this will make Dreg angry at Brad and he'll run past you to beat up Brad, this will skip the fight with him and earn you the achievement.
PLEASE NOTE: Doing this Achievement will lock you out of doing the "Mercy" achievement, and, since the game saves automatically, you will have to start another play-through in order to do the Mercy achievement.

This achievement involves a quest-line in the second half of the game with the character Scarlett
Scarlett is the lady at the Fruitstand at the beginning of the game that asks you to find Goldenrod. In the second half of the game she becomes a jaded demon hunter, which is where this questline takes place.

FIRST:
When you first escape the Crude Mines, you'll find Father Wormwood who beckons you to take refuge in his church. Once you enter the church, and exhaust all dialog options with him, he will then give you a quest and the "Holy Rounds" which you will NEED in order to do this quest.

SECOND:
Once given the Holy Rounds, head to the Cemetery (to the right of the church) and shoot the bell next to the obelisk, (on the left side of the cemetery). Doing this will activate a mini boss encounter with a demon, once you defeat the demon, you can find Scarlett on the other side of the cemetery, where she will ask you to meet her at the Cult-45 Hideout in Orwell. (you might need to reload the cemetery once beating the demon)

THIRD:
Once you travel to Orwell and meet Scarlett at the Cult-45 Hideout, she will ask you to defeat 16 Demons, at this point the game will start tracking how many demons you've defeated with a little counter in the corner. The only way to defeat demons is with the aforementioned Holy Rounds. What you want to do at this point is go through the game like normal, but make a point to kill EVERY demon you encounter. Make sure you scour all the side areas and the entrance of Orwell as well and you should reach the 16 number easily. DO NOT GO TO AVALON! this will lock you out of completing the quest as you can't return to the main area once you do this, don't worry there are more than enough demons in the main areas.

FOURTH (FINAL):
Once you've defeated 16 demons, return to the Cult-45 Hideout. Once there you'll find that Scarlett has travelled deeper into the hideout, follow her and you'll eventually catch up with her and fight a gauntlet of demons. After completing this encounter and completing the quest you should get the achievement.

PLEASE NOTE: From what I have found you could actually completely skip the Goldenrod Questline from the first half of the game and this quest will still be available. If I am wrong about this please let me know and I'll correct the guide.

This Completes this section. For those looking for the achievements involving the GEM, I have made a separate section for them.

ACHIEVEMENTS INVOLVING THE GEM!
There are three achievements that involve the Gem that you initially find in the Cult-45 Hideout.
Each of these achievements have to be separately done on different playthroughs. I know, it's a bit a grind but because of the way the game auto-saves, there's no real way around it at the time of writing. So with that out of the way let's get into the details.

This achievement will involve Sewert, the guy who cooks rats in the sewer underneath Orwell.

STEP ONE:
Once the Merchant gives you the key to access the sewer underneath the Cult-45 Hideout, go back and talk to Sewert, he will immediately recognize the key as his own and ask you to return the gem to him as it's been taken by the Cult into the Hideout.

STEP TWO
You'll then have to acquire the gem itself, here's a pic to help you out with the location.

In order to acquire the gem you'll have to grab the cell keys to unlock the door, which means defeating the baby.

Once defeating the Baby, you'll have to dodge the Demons and backtrack to the locked door where the Gem is.

STEP THREE
Once you've acquired the Gem, return to Sewert and give it to him, this will "activate" his little questline and you'll see him pop up again in the Junkyard, outside the Church at Basecamp, and in Allendale.

STEP FOUR (FINAL)
After escaping the Crude Mines and returning to Allendale, you'll find him in the same spot that Bill once was, speaking to him here and exhausting his dialog will finally net you the achievement.
PLEASE NOTE: Once you give Sewert the Gem, you will be locked out of progressing with the Merchant and Ultimately be locked out of getting the "A tiger!" Achievement

This Achievement involves the exact same steps as outlined above, and it involves the Merchant, the eccentric shady guy in the Wagon.

Instead of giving Sewert the Gem, you give the Merchant the gem. Once you visit him in Allendale after escaping the Crude Mines, he will. indeed. Have a Tiger!
PLEASE NOTE: Once you give the Merchant the Gem, you will be locked out of progressing with Sewert and Ultimately be locked out of getting the "Risky Business" Achievement

This Achievement is the simplest and my personal favorite of the game. Instead of giving the gem to either Sewert or the Merchant, you just keep it and hold onto it, for the entire game. Once you've beaten Max and Max does the Final attack to Murray, instead of killing Murray like usual, the Gem will shatter, taking the bulk of the final blow, causing Murray to survive and giving you the Achievement.

That covers all the achievements that involves the Gem and are about as complex as the games achievements get.
MISC ACHIEVEMENTS (BULLETS, UPGRADES, AND APPLES)
This section is for all those smaller and miscellaneous achievements that don't fall into any odd categories.

This achievement requires you to buy the Golden Apple from Scarlett at the beginning of the game and eat it.
The apple costs 500 coins, so save up, break crates, sell all your possessions and eventually you'll get there.
IMPORTANT: You MUST purchase the apple BEFORE killing the Baby in the Cult-45 Hideout, after doing this, Goldenrod will die and you won't be able to purchase the golden apple anymore!

This achievement requires you to consume both the pills available in the game at the same time, the two pills being, the "Lucky Stars" pill, and "Bills Pill". You can find Lucky Star pills throughout the game or you can buy them from most of the merchants, besides (Scarlett and Pre-Crude Mine Sewert).
Bills Pill can only be purchased from either of the Bill merchants in the first half of the game, and only from either Allendale Bill, Merchant, or Sewert in the second half. Just acquire both pills and consume them one after the other and the achievement will pop.

This achievement requires you to use flamethrower ammo on a "critter" in the game. The critters they are referring too are either the rats that roam the sewers or the birds that litter the rooftops of the basecamp.
Flamethrower ammo is only obtainable after you escape the Crude Mines.
You can either acquire ammo naturally from the flamethrower dudes or in the world, or it can be purchased from the merchant.
if your having trouble finding birds or rats I highly recommend travelling to the Basecamp train station, there are tons of birds sitting on the rooftops in that area.

This achievement requires you to carry every type of ammo at the same time in the game.
There are 7 total types of ammo in the game.
These ammo types are:
Regular Shotgun Shells
Holy Rounds
Rifle Rounds
Sticky Mines
Grenades
Flamethrower Rounds
Sawblades
If you play through the game naturally, you'll eventually have this pop for you, the only one that is out of the way are the Holy Rounds which are acquired from Father Wormwood, after escaping the Crude Mines.

This requires you to upgrade the Gunbrella to the max.
There are 3 ATTACK UPGRADES and 3 RELOAD UPGRADES
Each upgrade costs a certain amount of COGS.
COGS are obtained through different stockpiles in the world, turret enemies, and purchased from the Allendale Merchant (Either Sewert, Merchant, or Bill after escaping Crude Mines).
The First Upgrade costs 10 COGS
The Second Upgrade Costs 25 COGS
The Third and Final Upgrade will cost 50 COGS

In total it will cost 170 COGS to fully upgrade everything.
I found that the game doesn't give you enough COGS without having you to purchase them. So the strategy is to save up as much money and sell as much stuff as you can and dump it all into COGS before going to Avalon.
You should also be giving Honeycomb to the Bartender and she'll give you Cogs in return for them.
Once you unlock all the upgrades you'll pop the Achievement.
PLEASE NOTE: DO NOT GO TO AVALON Before finishing your upgrades, you won't be able to once you leave so do whatever it takes to get those upgrades before then.

That covers all the misc achievements.

END
I hope I was able to answer any questions you have with this brief guide. It's my first one so please give me any feedback that you have to make my next one better.

Cheers-
James Olsen

Boop Master, There are certain story beats in the game that will lock you out of completing different side quests and there is no new game plus in the game. 100% achievements requires at least 3 playthroughs without save state manipulation, hope this helps.

can you go back and complete side quests after finishing the game/certain story points if you missed them the first time through? like playing after the ending,

GregTheEpicGamer, thanks for that catch, the guide has been updated to accurately reflect when the achievement will pop.

Nevermind I got it. To TRULY unlock the Mercy achievement: You have to defeat Dregs, don't kill finish him off, leave the room, and then keep playing until you make it to the boss level.

Thanks for the guide. Very detailed on how to get each missable achievement.
Blitzdildo 19 Sep, 2023 @ 1:24pm
The achievements with the gem are not THAT missable. After getting the gem and standing in front of the merchant: save the game.
Quit game and deactivate cloud save for the game. Then cooy the save. Play thorugh the game normal and unlock an achievemnt regarding the game and then reload with the old save via cooy and paste and so skip the flrst part of the game:)

verg4469 and Biribiri,
The code has not been found in the game at time of writing. The COP code has been found through brute forcing the lock.
