JGR/JNR Series Oha 60 Coaches

After WW2, there was a large number of wooden carriages that were exhausted by heavy use.
Due to the fact that the production of new passenger coaches could not keep up with the replacement and the demands of the situation at the time,
The Oha 60 series carriages were produced by the parts dismantling wooden carriages, and combining them with newly made steel car bodies.
The box-shaped, easy-to-build, modern car body could be said to have been the achievement of the old-type carriages, but they were exclusively used for local operations, they were cramped with many seats, the interiors were still old-fashioned because of the use of old parts.
Even so, they were built in large numbers and played an important role in one period of Japan.
Because of its origins, there are only a few preserved cars, but miraculously there are two cars that have been preserved dynamically.
