Uninstall any physx version from your system
The game works only with an specific physx version, using the newer versions causes the game to instantly crash before the test lap.
Install the physx version 9.16.0318
This is the only one i've found to work with this game.

FWIW I'm running 9.21.0713 which I installed back in April and the game has been fine. The only crashes I have had is when I tried to use another program whilst the game was still running but that's pretty common for games from that era.

You need to press Windows + R, and type appwiz.cpl. then you'll see it listed.

how do you even find out what version you have installed (yes, I did a web search and could not find an answer)
