with counter-strike 2 releasing around the corner i'd like to remake of the original "every barrel in counter-strike: global offensive" but in CS2 and also including a in depth analysis on the barrel database compared to CS:GO.

you may ask me, why? honestly, i dont know.

de_anubis has 0 barrels in total.

it's quite shocking that no barrels could be found anywhere on this map. the only thing that was close to a barrel were water jugs but unfortunately they aren't classified as barrels.

de_ancient has 0 barrels in total.

no barrels can be found anywhere on this map like in cs:go. it's quite upsetting that valve couldn't sneak in a little barrel for me.



this is the successor to de_aztec and it makes me so upset with the lack of barrels that i had to boot up counter-strike:source just to get my fix of barrels...

de_dust2 has 12 barrels in total.

barrel 1 and 2 can be found near T spawn, close to upper tunnels.


barrel 3, 4 and 5 can be found in B site, located on the B platform.


barrel 6 and 7 can be found in B site, located next to B doors.


barrel 8 and 9 can be found in top middle.


barrel 10 can be found near top middle, close to long A doors.


barrel 11 can be found near T spawn, close to long A doors.

barrel 9 can be found in the wine cellar behind the gated door, located in a hostage room.

when i was watching the "counter-strike 2: leveling up the world" trailer i noticed something quite strange.

at timestamp 1:22 you can notice in the right alley there is a barrel in the corner of a blue house. when i saw this i thought to myself "huh i must've missed a barrel"...

well to my shock, the barrel isn't there.



is valve being serious? they took away a potential barrel from the map, what are they up to...

who would have guessed, that even in CS2 vertigo has no barrels. it truly baffles me how a construction site doesn't have a single barrel anywhere on the map, and what confuses me is people that actively enjoy this map, without any barrels present.

so that is all of the barrels currently in the counter-strike 2 limited test build, and with that being said here are some fascinating graphs and findings.



with the recent maps that were added into counter-strike: global offensive (anubis, ancient and vertigo remake) i was expecting for CS2 that the barrel numbers would go down with every new map.

but i was pleasantly surprised that in fact barrel numbers have gone up! on de_inferno the barrel count went up 3.7x and cs_italy 2.1x.

even some maps that only got an upgrade instead of a overhaul received a couple of extra barrels, de_nuke being one of them, it gained 5 more extra barrels!

its quite the exciting time to be a barrel fan like myself, with CS2 it gives me hope that barrels are here to stay.

okay valve, you brought back func_vehicle with the inferno remake but... now remaster or bring back de_aztec.
