Once part of a security company, BoomTec Co., Shade went AWOL after he heard that Kal joined the enemy. Before he left, he managed to swipe a few classified documents, hoping to please and convince the rival company, Toni Kensa Ind., to join them. After successfully doing so, he became a freelance member, doing whatever he can to make the company thrive, even if illegal acts are involved.

Shade is a dangerous Inkling to mess with. He has access and skills in cyber security, close and armed combat, and a trained expert in stealth and logical tactics. He always sticks with the shadows and rarely leaves a trace, he can combat drones with his pocket signal jammer which makes him virtually invisible to automated cameras. He always carries his snub nosed revolver and gold plated knife with him, he is never unarmed.
