About the design: This one came to me as i was thinking about doing a Celtic/Old English warrior themed skin, most likely a result of reading Beowulf, etc. I experimented with doing more "freehand" styles of Celtic knotwork, but this was proved to be quite difficult to get right when doing large and complicated patterns. I then recalled the kind of patterns associated with the dwarves of the Warhammer universe, taking particular inspiration from the 2009 miniature of Grobrindal, the white dwarf. [lh6.googleusercontent.com] The pattern itself was done on grid paper, as is shown in the first photo, this was then thresholded, the gaps were filled with black and then I used the program inkscape turn it into lovely smooth vectors. The rest, as they say, is photoshop.
