Surviving the journey by making specific choices in the final scene.

Note: Spoiler

I tried to get the achievements 'Move on', 'You are home' & 'Nothing ever really ends' by surviving the final scene. In one play through I was mean to Josh the entire game & in the other I was nice to him the entire game. I ran into an issue where I selected all the top options in the final drowning scene as I believed this was how to survive. There may have been a game update where this is no longer the case. I did die a couple times before figuring out how to survive.

There is a top response & a bottom one during the scene. I found that selecting the top response 3 times in a row, then the bottom 3 and then the top continuously until no more options are provided. Josh should become aware and surprised that you are actually drowning and not just seeing the experience so he removes you from the situation.

Layout of responses in final drowning scene for survival:
1) Top
2) Top
3) Top
4) Bottom
5) Bottom
6) Bottom
7) Top (Continue until scene finished)

While I'm not totally sure I do believe that there may be a requirement for collecting the tape in the tree trunk while leaving the lodge in Little Rouge before meeting with Beatrice on the beach (after seeing her light go there). It's directly on the left as leaving the property. After listening to this, Riley has an agreement with Josh about how if things work out how they'll be set free.

I also believe that using the boat to get to Dark Rouge instead of exploring the boathouse above may be required for 'Move on' so your boat can be used to sail away but again I'm not totally sure there isn't a lot of guides or anything in this game for me to be sure.

Hopefully this works in general as it worked for me.

I played through all four endings today. Selecting all top responses during the fight consistently made Riley survive. But other players report different results, so apparently there is more to it.

To speed things up I did not pick up any tapes or the father's letters in my third and fourth playthrough. The tape below the lodge does not seem to be a requirement for "Move On".

Also I don't think it makes a difference whether you walk to Dark Rouge or take the boat. The final goodbye scene is always by the tree on Little Rogue, so Riley will somehow make it back there in any case.

I got the "Move on" ending and achievement in my single playthrough, so maybe the following information is of help.

- I did find and read the tape in the tree trunk.

- I did explore the boathouse, which means that I had to go to the last island on foot. I still got the "Move on" ending, so having the boat is not required.

- During the drowning scene, I do not remember exactly what I picked, but since I was generally dismissive of Josh throughout the game I chose response that were geared towards my player character staying alive and being very direct in telling Josh that he is killing her.
