This is a short tribute to a short and beautiful game. It's mainly a compilation of information from my own multiple play-throughs since there aren't any guides at the time of writing. It's my first guide, feel free to let me know how to improve this. Hope this helps!

For a chronological guide to the game, inclusive of choices and when achievements popped (for me), go to the Walkthrough section.

For specific achievement requirements, go to the List of Achievements section.

IMPORTANT!
The "Perfect Search" achievement is currently confirmed to be bugged.
It's been fixed! Much love to the devs.
Controls, Tips & Tricks


Scavenging
When scavenging, you will be using 2 mechanics, depending on the icon beside it:


Click the randomly generated arrow buttons (WASD)

Spam "E" to smash.
Clicking on "Accessible bruises" under the controls menu allows you to hold "E" during scavenging instead of mashing it, if you prefer.

Depending on how accurate/fast you are, you will get 0 (minimum) to 2 (maximum) food from each source.



Feeding
The feeding phase is triggered automatically after scavenging, with the exception being the third and final scavenging phase (see Walkthrough section)

Del and Barrett both have 3 hunger states, as indicated by their expressions:



  • If either of them are hungry, certain future choices won't be able to be selected.
  • Overfeeding/filling the bar does nothing, so stop when they're full.
  • The good news is that there is sufficient food to feed them well!
  • All types of food fill around the same amount of hunger.



Choices
Choices affect stats. Stats will determine which options are available and which are greyed out in later choices.

From top to bottom,
  • First choices contribute to Del's Bruises stat (fist symbol).
    Example: choosing rock music in the car.
  • Second choices contribute to her Faith stat (palm symbol).
    Example: choosing soothing music in the car.
  • Third choices are always available.
    Example: the "What can I do?" options.




Walkthrough
*<B> and <F> after choice options represent whichever stat increases.

City (reload point)
Achievement: Ghost City
    Walk to the right to scavenge:
  • trash bin, car, trash pile, locker, vending machine, backpack (6)
    Feeding phase.
  • feed both to satisfaction (third hunger level).
    CHOICE (during a sudden encounter with old friends)
  1. Take them on. (unavailable if hungry) <B>
    Achievement: Fights between Old Friends
  2. Use your words. (unavailable if hungry) <F>
    Achievement: Trust

Suburbs (reload point)
Achievement: Silent Suburbia
    Walk to the right to scavenge:
  • duffel, postbox, mailbox, scraps pile, fridge, car (6)
    Feeding phase.
  • feed both to satisfaction (third hunger level).
    CHOICE
  1. Let’s pump it up. <B>
    Achievement: Headbanger
  2. Something soothing. <F>
    Achievement: Chill Beats to End the World to
    CHOICE
  1. It’s for your own good. <B>
  2. It's not for long. <F>

Hideout (reload point)
Achievement: Zealot Swamp
    Walk to the right to scavenge:
  • box stack, crate, wheelbarrow, canvases, cardboard boxes (5)
    Achievement: Perfect Punch
    Feeding phase.
  • YOU WILL BE INTERRUPTED. But you'll be able to get maybe 3 pieces of food in if you're a fast clicker.
    Achievement: Hoarder (See List of Achievements for details)
    CHOICE
  1. I’d rather die. <B>
  2. She deserves better. <F>
    CHOICE (the final choice!)
  1. Ruin them. (unavailable if hungry or Bruises stat not high enough)
    Achievement: Fist Over Fervor
    Achievement: Quiet Waves
  2. Ask Barrett (unavailable if hungry or Faith stat not high enough)
    Achievement: The Promised One's Promise

    Achievement: Alone
List of Achievements
There are 15 achievements in total.

Although the two "Ending" achievements are technically obtained from making specific choices, I have grouped them as such for clarity.

~~Unmissable/ Story Achievements~~
These achievements are unmissable as long as you play the game to it's end.
Ghost City
This achievement is automatically obtained when they reach the city ruins after the introduction, right before the first scavenging.

Silent Suburbia
This achievement is automatically obtained when they reach the suburbs after the encounter with Del's old friends, right before the second scavenging.
Zealot Swamp
This achievement is automatically obtained when they reach the swamp hideout, right before the third scavenging.
~~Choice Achievements~~
These achievements will pop when you make a specific choice.
Fights Between Old Friends
After scavenging in the city, when you are given this choice:
  • Take them on.
  • Use your words.
  • What can you do?
Choose "Take them on".
Del will fight her friends, win and the achievement should pop.

If the option is greyed out, try starting a new game and play through to this point while choosing the first (top) option in the two previous choices, making sure Del and Barrett are well fed.
Trust
After scavenging in the city, when you are given this choice:
  • Take them on.
  • Use your words.
  • What can you do?
Choose "Use your words".
After Del knocks that truck dude out, the achievement should pop.

If the option is greyed out, try starting a new game and play through to this point while choosing the second (botttom) option in the two previous choices, making sure Del and Barrett are well fed.
A Hint of Power
After scavenging in the city, when you are given this choice:
  • Take them on.
  • Use your words.
  • What can you do?
Choose "What can you do?".
Barrett will cause an earthquake, allowing them to escape, and the achievement should pop.

Your previous choices and hunger level does not matter, this option will be available regardless.
Headbanger
When you are given this choice in the car:
  • Let's pump it up.
  • Something soothing.
Choose "Let's pump it up".
Rock music will play, Barrett will hate it, and the achievement should pop.
Chill Beats to End the World to
When you are given this choice in the car:
  • Let's pump it up.
  • Something soothing.
Choose "Something soothing".
Barrett will start to snooze and the achievement should pop.
Fist Over Fervor
When you are given this choice in the swamp hideout:
  • Ruin them.
  • Ask Barrett.
  • What is there to do?
Choose "Ruin them".
Del will absolutely wreck the cultists, and the achievement should pop.

If the option is greyed out, try starting a new game and play through to this point while choosing the first (top) option in the six previous choices (not necessarily all six, but make sure Del's Bruises stats are decently high and higher than her Faith. Also make sure that both Del and Barrett are well fed before this scene.

It might also be mandatory to fight Del's friends in the city ("Take them on.") in order for this option to be available, but I haven't tested that out.
The Promised One's Promise
When you are given this choice in the swamp hideout:
  • Ruin them.
  • Ask Barrett.
  • What is there to do?
Choose "Ask Barrett".
Barrett will CHOOSE DEL *sobbing*, and the achievement should pop.

If the option is greyed out, try starting a new game and play through to this point while choosing the second-from-the-top option in the six previous choices (not necessarily all six, but make sure Del's Faith stats are decently high and higher than her Bruises. Also make sure that both Del and Barrett are well fed before this scene.

It might also be mandatory to peacefully resolve the situation with Del's friends in the city ("Use your words.") in order for this option to be available, but I haven't tested that out.
~~Ending Achievements~~
Good and bad endings!
Quiet Waves
When you are given this choice in the swamp hideout:
  • Ruin them.
  • Ask Barrett.
  • What is there to do?
Choose either "Ruin them" or "Ask Barrett".
After a short cutscene, they will both basically ride off into the sunset beach at long last and the achievement should pop.

Congrats, you've found the good ending :")
Alone
When you are given this choice in the swamp hideout:
  • Ruin them.
  • Ask Barrett.
  • What is there to do?
Choose "What is there to do?".
Barrett will leave Del to join the cultists, and the achievement should pop.
Stats and hunger are irrelevant, this option will always be available.

Bad ending. Try again >:-(

~~Miscellaneous Achievements~~
These achievements can be achieved at any time and are not related to the story.
Hoarding
This one is a bit confusing.
From the description, I assumed it would pop when I had 20 or more unused food items in my inventory, but it didn't.
The steam tally got to 12/20 before stopping, so I tried accumulating food and feeding it all at one go (I had 24), at which point it popped. Needs more info!
Perfect Punch
When scavenging, spam "E" really fast or hold "E" if you've toggled the settings and you'll get it before the end of your first play through.
Perfect Search
When scavenging, just press the correct direction keys!
Keep in mind that they are randomized each time.





This achievement used to be bugged, but as of 25/9/23 it's been patched.
I reinstalled the game, started it, and it popped for me!

For the people who missed out: (from patch notes)
- If you have the "Hoarder" achievement, you'll be granted the "Perfect Search" achievement!
- Your save file should contain information about the achievement, so if it detects that you've received enough "Perfect" QTEs to give you both achievements, you'll get em!
- Lastly, the counter will actually count correctly now, so if you replay, your "Perfect Search" count should work properly now.
