Go to Nexusmods [www.nexusmods.com] and find the mod(s) youd like to install.

Once on the mod page, click Files.

Click on Manual Download.

Click on Slow Download.

IMPORTANT:
Head over to your mods folder
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Larian Studios\Baldur's Gate 3\Mods
If there is no 'Mods' Folder inside your Baldur's Gate 3 Folder, simply Create a folder named "Mods".

Click and drag the .pak file into your C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Larian Studios\Baldur's Gate 3\Mods Mods Folder
||||| Applying Mods: |||||
Inactive mods are on the RIGHT, active mods are on the LEFT.
Mods you WANT to use, move them to the LEFT by click and dragging.

Click the Save icon once you have moved your mods into the ACTIVE area.

Click the RUN button to launch the game.

Good job, you now know how to install mods.
||||| Important Notes: |||||
Some Mods DONT work with Old Saves, the game will either bug out, or crash. this can also be the case of removing mods from and active modded playthrough.

This mod installing method is the most popular currently, as you only need to drop the .pak file into the mod manager, very user friendly compared to the other methods which require you to go into files and paste text.

You can ONLY use .pak files. those 99% of bg3 mods are this file.

Read the mod page on where to install / important notes.
for example, some Dice Skin Mods are NOT .pak files, instead theyre saved in a completely different folder.

There is no mod manager thatll 'find mods' for you per-se.
unfortunately is this is easiest way of installing mods currently. it is very involved, but easy.

as the guide shows:
get the mod manager > go to nexusmods 'baldurs gate' > "sort by" 'Endorsements' (this will show you the most popular mods) > click the mod you want > click manual download > extra the download somewhere > import the mod (.pak file) into the mod manage > enable the mod in the mod manage > save in the mod manager > run game in the mod manager.

Very involved, but once youve done it, youve done it

This sounds incredibly involved and difficult to do as someone who has never modded the game before. It looks difficult to mod is it? is there a way to download a mod manager and have the manager look for mods and automatically install those I want? I don't want to balk my game up. thanks

How would I go about turning non-pak mods into .pak files manually? I've got a couple I want to use, but they're just data folders, and I'd really prefer the modularity of .paks.

@KiyoTecGaming your friends would need to have the same mods as you. youll more than likely get a 'mod mismatch' error message on attempting to join your friend.

with that said, some mods are client sided (such as the Achievement Enabler mod).

@Drizzt_Fan Those 4 files, should be in a folder together (can be a folder on the desktop).
KiyoTecGaming 14 Aug, 2023 @ 6:26am
would my friend have to have the same mods in order to play with me or no?

Question, I now have the 4 files from the manager on my desktop. Lib, Resource, the MM exe and config. Did I mis a step, or do you just leave all these on desktop? Feels like they should go somewhere, lol.
