Savegame Gone...?
... unlikely.

What throws people off after a crash is when they try to restart the game just to find that their savegame from before the crash is missing. While it is scary, it is often harmless.
What is going on?
In most cases whether the Larian Launcher or some leftover traces of your crashed game are still somehow running in the background. Trying to restart the game in such situation leads to a debug profile instance which is initially blank.

It is like when you start Windows in safe mode, not having access to all features.
How to fix?
In most cases a simple PC restart helps.

In difficult cases you need to purge the Levelcache of the game, and then restart your PC.

The LevelCache can be found here:

%LocalAppData%\Larian Studios\Baldur's Gate 3\LevelCache

For your convenience, you can copy & paste the link into the address bar of your Windows Explorer, as shown in this screenshot:

Delete everything in LevelCache and restart your PC and you should be good to go again.

If you did not prepare the Early Access version before the game's release, this information might be of interest for you.
