Being on summer vacation at the time, and bored on a Sunday; I decided to fire up the Forest again and entertain myself.

I created a new hard mode save, loaded in; skipped the intro cut scene; got out of the plane, broke open luggage, crafted the basics and set off towards my usual spot; the sacred tree on that one hill; surrounded by a very short beach and ocean; no safe way down apart from the rising hill.

I got there; cut down trees; built a defensive wall and gate along the rising section, cutting off access for the natives and began work on my actual base.

4 in game days later; I had a nice sized rabbit farm; a log cabin, drying rack, rain collector and various storage containers for logs, sticks and rocks.

But while I was building, I noticed something odd; a distinct lack of enemies; but thought nothing of it, thinking it was just a weird bug with enemy spawning.

Day 5, I decided to build a simple rope based access at the back; a standing platform with a rope so I could climb up and down; giving me an emergency escape and way in if necessary.

So, I made my way down to the treeline, and began chopping; half an hour later, I heard a noise in the distance; straight into the woods from my base, it was a strange; almost deer like call, but it was off; like a human imitating a deer.

Thinking I had simply misheard an Armsy; I pulled out my bow and ran towards the sound.

A moment later; deeper into the woods, I hear it again, this time like its all around me.

Looking around, I see nothing; just empty woods; not even animals, no birds; no deer; nothing.

Suddenly; out of nowhere, I hear crunching, branches snapping; I look around and again see nothing; but notice a tree wobble a slight bit.

I look at it; it bends again as the sound of sticks crunching fills the air; clearly due to something above.

I look up; and for a moment, I see a long, pale pink; red splotchy arm like limb with ridiculously long fingers emerging from behind another tree top; let go of the tree, and swiftly retract out of sight; followed by the sounds of something moving among the tree tops and branches snapping as the trees bend due to whatever it was moving among them.

I look around, trying to see what it is; following it as it moves, but it quickly escapes.

Baffled, I decide to leave the woods and come back the next day.

Making my way back to the base, and getting inside; I see its just about night time, and my hunger was getting quite low; so I open my inventory, eat a dried rabbit, and go into the cabin to sleep.

I approach the sleep icon, hold x, and the screen goes black as normal.

a moment later, unexpectedly; the screen returns to normal, and its still dark outside.
Then I notice, the sleep button is now crossed out.

Seconds later; I hear a loud howling from outside the base; again like a human trying to mimic a deer.

I turn to face the door; and for a brief second i see something looking at me through the cabin window.

It was a cluster of several human eyes; stuck into the left pectoral section of a pale pink and red splotchy headless torso; the left shoulder massive, and the left arm twisted upwards in an un-natural way.

The strange mass of flesh swiftly darts out of sight, and I briefly glimpse what appears to be an antler; made form various intertwined human limbs; attached to the large shoulder.

Confused and terrified; I ready my bow as I hear large footsteps outside.

Taking a cautious peak out the window; I see only the long, deer like, pale pink and red splotched legs and skeletal hip of this thing as it takes a singular step over the defensive wall and leaves; each step loud and powerful.

Waiting a moment for it to leave, I carefully exit the cabin and for a moment, see its antlers as it runs off into the darkness; their made of human limbs, fused together, stretched and mangled; many fingers and hands visible among the mass of extremities.

Completely unsure of what the ♥♥♥♥ I had just witnessed; I make my way back into the cabin in a focused panic, open my inventory, swiftly turn all of my arrows into fire tipped ones, crouch down in the corner, and take a moment to calm down.

A moment later; calming my nerves, I notice the sleep option is available again, and hold Z.

The screen goes black, and the next day loads; I'm half hungry and dehydrated.
I stand up, open my inventory, eat a dried rabbit; and drink some water from the water skin.

Refreshed and fed; I step outside the cabin; bow still in hand, and look around; nothing is out of order and all is in place.

So, I decided to continue my building project; I went to the tree line, cut down trees; took the logs back to base, and managed to get the tower and rope done, giving me an emergency escape.

And I also decided to start another building project, a watch tower and catapult system; which could be useful in fighting the strange creature if it came back.

I set up the floor plans, went out, cut down wood, brought it back; and got the tower done; but not the catapult; I still had to put the blueprint down; yet first I had to eat, drink and set up a rope to get up the tower.

So I opened my inventory; ate my last dried rabbit; finished the water in my water skin, made my way over to the tower, and installed the rope.

Just about to climb the finished tower; i decided to save first, just case that creature came back.
Went back to cabin, saved; went back to the tower; climbed up; and noticed that it was actually night time, i had spent all day building; the beautiful full moon and stars decorating the night sky.

Being up the tower and admiring the view, I took the opportunity to place down the catapult.
Opening the book and going to select the catapult; I again hear the noise, that human-deer call.

Startled, clicking the catapult option by accident, I lower the book, blueprint ready to place; and swiftly notice a large shape in the distance at the tree line, just barely visible in the corner of my vision.

I cancel the blueprint placement and look directly at it, its as tall as the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ trees, standing like a man but with antlers like a deer; and has 2 clusters of eyes, all shining like a deer's eyes when you shine a flashlight at them; but i had my lighter out; which confused me.

The thing looks at me before slowly backing off into the woods.

Again, scared and confused; I quickly open my book, place down the blueprint for the catapult, ready my bow, climb down and make my way towards the log cabin.

I run inside, save, and hold Z to sleep.
Again, the screen goes black; and it returns to normal, still being night; followed immediately by the same human-deer noise and loud footsteps.

This time, I decided not to run; I wanted to see what the ♥♥♥♥ this thing actually was.

So I loaded up my bow; lit my arrow on fire; equipped my flashlight, and stepped outside, only to see this towering, tree sized, man-deer abomination as it steps directly over my ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ defensive wall and looks at me.

Its head was made of a human torso; the antlers an amalgamation of countless arms; its body human like; its legs almost like a deer; the hoofed feet being a disgusting amalgamation of toes and fingers; and its whole figure gaunt and emaciated.

Its face being the worst part; a collection of hands and arms were fused to the underside of the torso; a set of hands and fingers in the front acting as the upper teeth and gums, and a amalgamation of arms, tipped with hands and fingers; acting as the jaw and bottom teeth.

The Wendigo like abomination roared at me as it stepped closer.

I fire an arrow up it, only for the beast to slap the arrow out of the air.

I try to load another arrow; but the beast swiftly steps forward, grabs me; lifts me into the air; opens its mangled; amalgamated jaw and bites me; killing me instantly; an instant game over and black screen.

A moment later; the game loads up the main menu.

Absolutely baffled, I head to my saves, and see my hard save is there; but the picture had changed to the picture below; the save worked fine, but I haven't seen the creature since; or any other enemies for that matter, but sometimes I still hear that man-deer howling in the distance and catch glimpses of it in the night.

Not sure what it is, perhaps, I discovered a new mutant.
